its the same as A&H vs Pioneer though. Serato is still industry standard and it doesnt matter, it all comes down to preference. All the turntabilists ive met use serato. But Richie Hawtin and Pete tong use traktor. It just depends what you prefer and sometimes who you're sponsored by...

well, you need two cd players, a 2 channel mixers and probably a pair of middle range sennheisers, but you can get decent headphones from JB for about $50 that will be fine for your room. Mixer: xone 22 or DJM400 CD players: there's heaps, cdj 100, 200, 400 etc depends on money. Speakers: i wouldnt recommend pc speakers, do you have a stereo hi fi or something?

beginners should be the last ppl to have beatlock. thats pretty crazy that they do, some serious technology is needed there. and tbh, it makes me ill. i know so many fuckheads that are DJing, that do the bare minimum cus they have no skill. now they can beatmatch without having to try

yeah the only thing about traktor is the beat lock. I love traktor tho, opens up doors for crazy mixing via the beatlock... which i hate, but when using for or more decks... its necessary.

Chev, yeah i use routing. But not bus channels very often. Im an insert man. Im going to change when i get a new pc, because stragely enough, my pc cant handle the bus channels. When i was talking about Logic, in magizines its always: "in logic route your drums to bus one, compress, then route to another bus and eq and then another bus and compress again etc etc" lol

Make it a capital L for tidyness. and dont feel dumb jonny, Logic is boss. 75% of producers i read tips from... and there are hundreds, use logic. I'm happy with Live though. Logic are so into their bus channel and routing n what not. Does my head in. Plus i need a mac to run it

ok, we need to confirm that serato is VERY different to Virtual DJ. serato is just used to mount audio with the pc, its designed for hip hop djs that dont want to carry around big vinyl crates. everything else can be done with ur decks. Traktor is more like Virtual DJ however. Turntables are harder. bigger and sometimes more expensive. BUT you learn to mix on them and you're set. CDJs are smaller, easier, WAY MORE features etc etc. Personally if you were DJing 4four dnace music, go CDJs... hip hop, breaks, dubstep go turntables. Or you could try a hybrid
