Just get the cheapest DAW you can get (aka free), if all you want to do is record something in you won't need anything fancy. I would recommend reaper or audacity, both free downloads.

Stack em up. You can make some really cool kicks by using certain frequencies from different samples, like low end from 1st sample, mid from 2nd sample, etc.
