A tweet from Zedd questioning the quality of “Mo Bamba” by Sheck Wes has creating some serious debate among producers like Alison Wonderland and A-Trak, the latter of whom called it the “best song of the year” in no uncertain terms. Even if you’re not sure what song we’re talking about, we can almost guarantee you’ve heard it at a show (unless you attend exclusively techno/tech house events). Zedd began it all by tweeting, “I just heard the song ‘Mo Bamba’ by Sheck Wes for the first time …and I have so many questions…” The tweet has since been deleted. It’s mostly the vocals which give the song its lasting identity, but A-Trak maintains that the quality of the song isn’t even up to subjective interpretation. “You can’t. Objectively, you can’t disagree, sorry,” he tweeted. “It’s the most important song of the year.” Zedd’s response to both Alison and A-Trak was simply, “You guys have absolutely lost your mind.” The arguments boil down to Zedd saying “I don’t like this song” which is a personal feeling, and A-Trak responding with, “No, your feelings are wrong.” It’s clear to see who the more rational person in this debate is. Producers on the track Take A Daytrip chimed in with their own explanation of the production behind the track, just to drive A-Trak’s point home. The 1st two chords are Emaj & Fmaj acting as the 5th & 6th chord in A harm min, the 3rd chord Bmaj is not present in A harm min so it is borrowed from E harm min. This interval of F-B is a tritone, which is common in classical music to build tension. Love, Mo Bamba producers — Take A Daytrip (@take_a_daytrip) October 2, 2018 For the most part, support between “Mo Bamba” and Zedd seems to be fairly split. And the hyperbole coming from “Mo Bamba” supporters makes it hard to discern whether the support in itself is a meme or not. Name YOUR song of the year, you intellectual caveman. “Mo Bamba” is an absolute masterpiece and a contribution to human race, collectively. This is not a matter of opinion, it can be proven with empirical data that it is song of the year — Sam Atha (@satha1123) October 2, 2018 Let us know what you think – is “Mo Bamba” all it’s cracked up to be, or are we living in some sort of weird simulation? Rezz never ceases to amaze, and consistently intrigues with her otherworldly productions. Although she just recently put out her sophomore album Certain Kind of Magic, she’s keeping ’em coming with some fresh new unreleased fire. Her latest show in Seattle saw a particular ID that had the crowd awestruck. Packed with heavy, glitchy goodness — it’s definitely one to go hard to, as heard and visualized in the video below. Shoutout J_clouch for capturing such a killer moment, because it almost feels like we were there. According to an attendee, Rezz played 2 or 3 total unreleased tracks within the last 30 minutes of her set. This is just one of the upcoming productions we have to look forward to. Hopefully this ID gets a release sooner than later. Speaking of IDs, that Rezzmau5 collab has us high key drooling — and we’ve only heard the intro. In a tweet, Rezz revealed deadmau5’s song “Superliminal” changed her perspective on music and “how intensely you can feel rhythms and noises.” Together, there’s no telling how crazy their collab will sound. Listen to the work in progress here. Rezz – ID Rezz in Seattle at WaMu from aves Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. I’ve lost track of how many times in 2018 I’ve written about new Skrillex material never to be released, or Swedish House Mafia announcing their return in so many different ways… but the thing is, Swedish House Mafia did return, and Skrillex does have new music on the way. It’s just a matter of when we get it. Yesterday at Listen In Adelaide, Skrillex dropped a new demo on the crowd as the penultimate track to his set. The track sports some massive tribal vibes along with lyrics in Spanish meaning “You know the devil.” /u/Tuckersaurus, who captured the video and posted on reddit, confirmed that Skrillex announced the song was a new demo before playing it. “Made me whip out my phone as fast as possible so I could get it all,” he said. You can add this new demo to his purported remix of Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” his Kingdom Hearts III opening theme with Utada Hikaru and Poo Bear (which has a confirmed release date), and even the possible releases of “WTFIWWY” and “Ping Pong.” Check out the video below. The first ever Posty Fest takes place in Dallas later this month — and finally we have a look at the full lineup. Texas native Post Malone is set to headline his own festival, and there’s no shortage of talent on the roster with him. Previously announced acts Travis Scott and Tyler, The Creator are joined by Lil Skies, Ski Mask The Slump God, Tierra Whack, Saint JHN and Tyla Yaweh in today’s announce to play Posty Fest 2018. For just a one-day event, the lineup is pretty stacked. The poster doesn’t give everything away, though. The surprise guests will remain just that — a surprise — until showtime. Post Malone is a true hip hop phenomenon and already a household name. Now, having a festival named after and curated by him solidifies his spot as a tastemaker. Posty Fest 2018 goes down October 28 at Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas. Get tickets here. Anyone who has been wishing that the musical paths of Odesza and Kaskade would cross — your dreams have just come true. Both names are associated with some of the most gorgeous productions of all time, and together they make for one stunner of a track. Kaskade remixes Odesza’s “Falls” featuring Sasha Sloan subtly, but just enough to make it count. Some might say he played it safe, but in this case there’s nothing wrong with that. The original is amazing as is, but in his own way, Kaskade is able to soften the edges and sweeten the powerful ballad up a bit more. Any dance floor would completely melt to the magical vibes of this new remix. Listen to Kaskade’s take on “Falls” right here and let us know what you think! ODESZA – Falls (feat. Black Eyed Peas Called Out for Ripping Off Yet Another Artist
Cupe posted a topic in DJ Headquarters
R&S Records and Lone have accused the Black Eyed Peas of sampling their music without permission from both the label and artist. Both have pointed out the similarities between Black Eyed Peas’ track “Constant” released in August, and Lone’s track “Airglow Fires” from 2013 on Twitter. R&R Records tweeted “Sound Familiar?” with a clip starting at the 2:41 mark of Black Eyed Peas video “Constant.” Following with another tweet calling the group, “total rip off merchants.” Sound familiar?https://t.co/1DqW6uRYoV — R&S Records (@randsrecords) October 2, 2018 Lone followed the record labels direction by retweeting the original post and commenting “Black Eyed Me’s,” addressing the striking comparison to his own track. black eyed me's https://t.co/BJxDscplxe — Lone (@Lone) October 2, 2018 “I was actually made aware of the tune a few weeks back when my manager sent me a link to the video,” Lone told Resident Advisor. “Needless to say it put me off my breakfast… I mean, you’ve gotta laugh really, but that’s a total rip- off, no question.” But this isn’t the first time the group has been accused of plagiarizing other artists tracks. The Black Eyed Peas have faced a handful of copyright infringement lawsuits dating back to the early 2000’s. Multiple artists have reported the illegal sampling of their original material and group member, will.i.am, admitted to one incident calling it an “accident,” according to Forbes. The Black Eyed Peas have not responded to the accusations but the newest similarities are undeniable. Take a listen to both “Constant” and “Airglow Fires” by Lone below & let us know what you think! This summer, a Das Energi attendee died after falling off a highway nearby the festival grounds. Now, people are petitioning to put up a fence on the stretch of highway in Magna, Utah — at the same spot where tragedy struck. The change.org petition backed by UDOT is forward and to the point about why it’s necessary to have fencing installed on this stretch of highway: The purpose of this letter is to request that protective fencing be installed on the UT-202 overpass bridging I-80 in Magna, Utah. Approximately 200 feet on the west side and east side of this stretch of road should be fenced. This past August, a man died after falling from the UT-202 overpass and being struck by multiple vehicles on I-80. This tragedy would have been avoided if there had been a fence in place. We can and should prevent other, similar tragedies in the future. So far, the petition has garnered 1,806 signatures of its 2,500 goal. All it needs is a little push to help ensure this doesn’t happen again. Sign the petition at change.org. This article was first published on Your EDM. Indie R&B artist Jareth seems to be on the radar of drum and bass heavy hitters and vice versa with her most recent album Moonchild. Having already scored remixes by Chris Lake, Hybrid Minds and now Rene LaVice, once one listens to Jareth’s work and especially Moonchild, it’s easy to see why it’s highly remixable. LaVice’s remix is for the track “Rings of Saturn” off Moonchild, and with its half-tempo, trip hop-inspired beat and cool, drawn out vocal composition it seems like an obvious choice. Where he goes with it, however, it not at all obvious. LaVice takes the relatively drawn out and emotive structure of “Rings of Saturn” and turns it on its head, creating a danceable melody and tempo but with some very hard-edged beats. If you know Jareth, this remix seems completely unexpected and if you know LaVice, it still seems quite different from his usual style. To highlight “Rings of Saturn” and the art of the remix, Your EDM asked Rene LaVice for a playlist that highlights some of his favorite remixes, both that he’s done and by other artists. He also threw some fun wildcards in there because he is, after all, DnB’s current and future fun ambassador. The Prodigy – Voodoo People This track with set the club on fire every single time it’s dropped without fail. Use with caution. DJ Fresh & Diplo – Bang Bang (René LaVice Remix) Every time I drop into this tune I see everyone on the dance floor start to smile! I don’t know what it is about it that does that, but it’s big and uplifting, it’s a badass sounding song about love with big energy. Just the sort of vibe I want to bring. Respect to Fresh & Diplo for allowing me to put my spin on their genre defying masterpiece! Mampi Swift – The One (Insideinfo Remix) WHAT. A. TUNE. Bad boys and rude gyals salute, this tune always goes off. Few people could take such an iconic and genre defining classic and make it EVEN SICKER! Bassline woah! Black Sun Empire – Caterpillar (Drumsound and Bassline Smith Remix) Goosebumps and hairs standing on end every time this intro comes in. I swear I get even more amped up than the crowd does for this one (laughs)! That lyric is so raw and visceral, it completely consumes the audience and in that moment they’re in the palm of your hand. Little to they know the drop peeking just around the corner of the build up is about to blast off like a rocket ship. Fire away! Usher – Climax (René LaVice Remix) I mean… it’s Usher. Bring spare panties. Nuff said. Rene LaVice’s remix of Jareth’s “Rings of Saturn” is out now and can be purchased or streamed on multiple platforms by clicking here. Ah, the life of a DJ. If you’re a fan of Martin Garrix, The Chainsmokers, Zedd, Tiesto, any number of top tier talents in the industry, you might follow their socials and be in awe of their lifestyle. Private jets, five star accommodations, travelling to all ends of the globe and playing in front of massive crowds… it all seems pretty amazing, right? However, the story of those DJs is not the story of every DJ. Every major city has tons of up and coming DJ and producer talent. If you’re a regular club-goer here in Los Angeles, you’re probably familiar with any number of resident DJs at Exchange, Academy and Sound. We got the chance to sit down and chat with Exchange and Academy resident Nick Ledesma. Nick has opened and closed for such legendary acts as W&W, R3hab, Nicky Romero and Sander van Doorn among others here at local clubs. Nick talked to us about his life as a resident DJ here in Los Angeles, what got him into music, how he makes new music for sets, and some of his goals in the industry. Tell me a little bit about your story, how did you wind up where you are here today as a resident DJ at Exchange? “I started in the industry when I was around 13, working in a rock band, back in the day. So I had some success doing that, in that genre of music, pop-punk, so I was very influenced by Blink-182, Good Charlotte, Sum 41. When I was 18 I wanted to make a transition to a different genre of music, so that became electronic dance music. I started off producing off FL Studio, which I still do today. My first couple of productions were not the best, when I became a DJ, I started playing in the bar scene, I was playing in downtown Fullerton, around that area. And I realized if I just stay here and play music I’m not going to go anywhere. So I started taking my production a little more serious, I started playing at Avalon around that time, and when I turned 21, I started playing at the gallery downstairs here at Exchange. From then on, I just kept working on my production, finally got my first mainstage appearance three years ago. I think it was for Jay Hardaway and Elephante. That was probably my first opening stage gig, and my first closing gig was for R3hab back in January of 2017. Now I’m here today and I’m a resident DJ both here and at Academy. From this point on, I’m still working on a lot of music, basically future bass/progressive, a little mixture of it. You could say my music is a little bit between Seven Lions and Illenium and Marshmello and Slushii, it’s in the same boat.” What’s your day-to-day work life here being a resident DJ? “I do have a day job, I work Monday through Thursday doing human resources for the City of West Covina, I live in Azusa. So during the week I work from 7am-6pm, and then when I get home I work on music, sometimes until the morning, so I don’t get that much sleep. Luckily I have Fridays off, so I work on music all weekend long. That’s basically my weekly routine, so there’s no sleep when it comes to being in this industry. I’m not to the point that I can quit my day job yet, but it’s been a great couple of months that I’ve been getting more recognition in the industry.” Did you always want to be in the music industry when you were growing up? “So, I never saw myself in music, when I was in 7th grade, I literally had a crush on this girl who was in the 8th grade, and I heard she loved guitar players. So the next thing I did was buy this cheap-ass $80 guitar off eBay, an electric that came with a little tiny amp, the thing barely fucking worked. So once I got the guitar, I was like, so now what? So I literally learned two chords, G & C, wrote her the cheesiest song in the world, and I sang it to her, in 7th grade. She thought it was cute, sadly I didn’t get the girl. But, from that point on, it gave me a little push to learn more about playing guitar, and from there I got really good and wanted to learn piano. It’s such a beautiful instrument and you hear it in almost every song. Learning both those instruments helps me with my productions today. It’s so easy for me to just put out a melody on guitar or piano and plug it into my program. With my music I’m very melodic, so that’s important.” Is that kind of song composition works for you, a melody and then you add electronic elements? “Yeah, with my process, I’ll get the chords and put the melody out and from there I’ll layer it with some drums. And then I’ll kind of see how everything is and I’ll add more elements, a verse, a buildup, anything that consists of making a dance track, basically any song, it’s almost the same structure, just in a way where you’re using a lot of synths or other different elements that are used in dance music…when I do my melodies I make sure I have drop that grabs the people’s attention right away. We need to have that drop that hits you, where people are like oh my god!” What have been some of the highlights you’ve experienced here at Exchange in your career as a resident DJ? “There’s been a lot of moments where I can say wow, that show was amazing. But there’s also times where I’m like I could’ve done a lot better. One of my favorite nights was a couple of months ago, it was W&W, I opened and closed for them. My first 2-1/2 hour set, it was a little bit challenging at first. 2-1/2 hours is very long, I don’t think a lot of people who aren’t a DJ or producer know how long 2-1/2 hours playing for people is. I was so used to playing an hour when I started, then it became an hour-and-a-half, then at most two hours. It’s very challenging just to add 30 minutes and to keep people engaged for your music. Opening for acts is such an art, it’s not easy, it really takes a lot of time and focus to construct a perfect set. I think just being a resident here, being a closer is much easier than being an opener.” What are some of the challenges you experience being an opener and a closer? How are they different from each other? “As for being an opener, the challenge is to keep everyone engaged. People are just walking in, they’re trying to relax, you can’t play anything too crazy. You really have to find a nice tempo, a nice buildup, it’s a little slower, you slowly build it up and slowly go back down just before the headliner. As a closer your job is to keep those people from 2-3 o’clock in the morning. After they’re done with the headliner most of them just want to go home right? So your job is to keep heads staying at the venue, so you keep the energy of the headliner going. So in my experience, being an opener is much more challenging.” What’s the next step you hope to take in your DJ/music production career? “I’ve been very blessed to have opened for many DJs within the last couple of years. I’m hoping to finally make my mark on the festival scene. I’ve been working really hard and I have so much production that’s ready for people to hear. It’s going to be something people will enjoy and hopefully they can relate to my music.” Check out some of Nick’s originals and remixes below and make sure to catch him when he’s playing alongside the industry’s best at Exchange LA and Academy LA. If you want to catch Nick in action this weekend, he’s just been added as an opener for every night of the Alesso takeover at the Hollywood Palladium. Be sure to get there early! The untimely death of Avicii continues to uncover potential musical creativity that never came to be. The latest discovery was a potential collaborative effort between the late Swedish producer and American rock star Jon Bon Jovi. Reddit user sandwichesareevil uploaded a video clip of an interview Jon Bon Jovi. In it, he revealed a time when he and Avicii met to potentially work on a new track. Bon Jovi talked about the effort the two put in to craft the song, but it ultimately did not work out. According to him, Avicii asked for a lyric for a song he was making. But when it came time to meet and finish the song, Avicii didn’t have all the tools or files to adjust Bon Jovi’s lyrics with the song idea. In the end, the two were able to meet each and spent an afternoon together. Avicii was planning on making a song with Jon Bon Jovi from avicii As Bon Jovi puts it, “We just met, and nothing came of it.” It’s unfortunate that not much came out of a possibly incredible collaboration between the late EDM icon and the rock legend. However, there are still 10 unreleased songs all featuring Chic frontman Nile Rodgers. This news also coincides with the third anniversary of Avicii’s sophomore record Stories. It’s that time of year again where Apple releases the anticipated new iPhone editions, and people are already having trouble with their new devices. Many have already complained of numerous different platforms with the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max; for example, they don’t have as strong of Wi-Fi- and cellular connections as previous versions. And the latest complaints with the new editions are pointing to a battery charging malfunction, according to Forbes. Users have reported that the iPhone is not recognizing the charger when plugged in, finding that the device only begins to charge when the iPhone is unlocked. “The problem appears to be related to the Lightning port detection algorithm not functioning properly when the device is asleep,” stated Forbes. “Which can most likely be addressed with a software update, but there is a chance it’s a hardware bug and that may require a fix or replacement.” Although not every single device is having issues, it appears the malfunction is widespread and could be affecting the majority of new iPhone buyers. Vlogger Lewis Hilsenteger provided evidence on his Youtube channel, testing eight different iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models by connecting them to the Apple provided charger from the box. Out of the eight tested, only two charged properly, one iPhone XS and one XS Max. In fact, one of the Your EDM staff just bought an iPhone XS Max which also exhibits the same problem. There has been no official statement from Apple at this point, but users are anxiously waiting for direction on how to fix the issue and frantically trying to solve the problem on their own. The iOS 12.1 beta hasn’t been released to the public but the update could be a simple fix, according to The Verge. In the meantime, users have reported changing the settings might a temporary fix to the problem. “Going into Settings, FaceID and Passcode, scrolling down to ‘Allow access when locked’ and turning on USB Accessories,” stated The Verge. The USB Restriction was implemented to restrict usage of the iPhone if it’s been left locked for a long period of time, according to HotHardware. Not only has the feature appeared to interfere with devices battery charging but apparently gives law enforcement issues as well, making it harder for authorities to access a phone during a court-ordered investigation. All things considered, the new models have been a huge success. Packing in stunning new displays, impressive camera upgrades and the fastest processor ever seen in a phone. But potential buyers may want to hold off purchasing until Apple gets the problem resolved, as an ultimate fix has not been addressed. Check out Vlogger Hilsenteger’s Youtube video below. After a bit of a golden era, riddim has come to the point that it’s becoming wildly oversatured. This has had some wide reaching effects, both good and bad. The bad, obviously, is that the oversaturation is making most riddim tracks sound terribly repetitive and monotonous. The good is that producers are now forced to expand their horizons and play with the boundaries of riddim if they want to get noticed. SLIMEZ and Hami just put out “Tough Guys” on Play Me Records, and they played with those borders a few times within just the one track. In terms of sound design and arrangement, nothing is spectacularly catching. But the constant switch ups within the track make for a wildly interesting and, more importantly, engaging tune. If I never know where it’s going to go next, there’s no way I’d turn it off! “Tough Guys” is out now – stream and download it here. This article was first published on Your EDM. Lana Del Rey believes Kanye West‘s support for President Donald Trump is a “loss for the culture.” Following his recent Pro-Trump pep talk, which happened off-camera at SNL studios over the weekend, she has a message for the rapper. The singer was triggered to respond on Ye’s MAGA social media post, which echoed his bizarre SNL speech… “This represents good and America becoming whole again,” he wrote. “We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love.” In the comments section, Lana shot back… “Trump becoming our president was a loss for the country but your support of him is a loss for the culture. I can only assume you relate to his personality on some level. Delusions of grandeur, extreme issues with narcissism.” She continued… “If you think it’s alright to support someone who believes it’s OK to grab a woman by the pussy just because he’s famous — then you need an intervention as much as he does.” *drops mic* Lana Del Rey’s Message For Kanye West This article was first published on Your EDM. Martin Garrix is gearing up for lots of new music — “soon.” The screenshot of a rendering below suggests “Acces” will be the first of many new forthcoming releases from the #1 DJ in the world. Some speculate he may even have a full body of work to put out in time for Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) later this month. But again, that’s purely speculation. What we do know is “Acces” is coming soon. Also, the producer was recently spotted with one of his go-to collaborators, Julian Jordan. The two have been working on something “HUGE.” This year, Martin has unleashed some monster tracks with some of the biggest names in the game. “Like I Do” with David Guetta and Brooks, “Game Over” with Loopers, and “Ocean” featuring Khalid are just a few. The Glitch Mob have always been a group focused on evolution – whether in sound or in technology. Their live set up has always been more than about just DJing, and when they unveiled The Blade stage for the first time, fans were able to get a taste for the group’s voracious thirst for innovation. Now as they tour their new album See Without Eyes, they’ve revealed Blade 2.0 to the world. It’s not wholly that different from the previous iteration, at least not to the naked eye. But a closer examination belies the massive overhaul that the system was given. The Glitch Mob utilizes the following Dell and Alienware products for the Blade 2.0: Dell Canvas and Alienware 17s are the primary controllers for each performer. Running an emulator on the pairing allows the touchscreen to act as a flexible and reconfigurable MIDI controller. Alienware 15s run the live musical set with Ableton software and do the bulk of the computing. XPS All-in-Ones are the secondary controllers for each performer. XPS 13 and XPS 15 2-in-1s for DJing and on the go production. Alienware 17s for mobile production studio set up at each performance venue. Previously, The Glitch Mob used hacked Apple iPads and Mac Pros for The Blade. These were able to accomplish the task that was given to them, but didn’t leave room for much else after all was said and done. With the Dell Canvas and Alienware 17s running in tandem as their main workstations for each show, they’re able to bring their visions to life. “We knew we wanted to perform our music in a more powerful way and the possibilities were out there. We wanted to work with people at the top of their craft so reached out to Dell and Alienware for the Blade 2.0,” said The Glitch Mob. They continued, “One of the great things about partnering with Dell is knowing that all the hardware is reliable, and it works right out of the box. All of the gear talks to each other in a seamless way and that piece of mind is priceless. The fact that we’re using a Dell laptop with a Dell touchscreen with an all-PC fitted rig has really made this a really cool project.” Watch the documentary below go over exactly how it all came together. Two men collapsed on the dance floor at Israel’s leading Psy Trance event, Neverland Electronic Music Festival over the weekend. They were given medical care on site and taken to a nearby hospital, where both were later pronounced dead. According to a report, a 55-year-old man attending the festival at Kibbutz Lehavot Habashan in Upper Galilee was rushed to Ziv Medical Center in Safed. Shortly after, he was confirmed dead of a suspected overdose. An autopsy has been ordered to officially determine cause of death. Hours later a 27-year-old man collapsed at the same rave and was taken to the Safed hosptial. He died several hours later due to organ failure. One 20-year-old man was treated for a punctured lung. A woman was treated for moderate head injuries. Police said “in light of the incidents, an investigation will be opened to determine the cause of their deaths.” Upper Galilee Regional Council released its own statement: “This kind of tragedy is the reason we decided last month not to approve requests for mass parties in our region.” Source: The Times of Israel This article was first published on Your EDM. All this year, California Senate Bill 905 has been working its way up the state legislative branches. The bill, introduced by California State Senator Scott Wiener, would allow, but not require, 7 CA cities to extend nightlife hours to 4 am. The cities would have been LA, San Francisco, Oakland, West Hollywood, Sacramento, Long Beach, & Palm Springs. I say “would have been” because the bill was just vetoed by Governor Jerry Brown. “Without question, these two extra hours will result in more drinking,” Brown wrote in his veto message. “California’s laws regulating late night drinking have been on the books since 1913. I believe we have enough mischief from midnight to 2 without adding two more hours of mayhem.” While objectively, yes, extending the drinking hours would lead to more drinking, Gov Brown appears to miss the bigger picture. All of the cities the bill would have applied to are massive hubs for nightlife, cities in which the last call doesn’t necessarily dictate the end of someone’s night. When an individual or group is ushered out of a club at 2am, sometimes not even close to the end of their night, they are forced to find other means of entertainment to prolong their fun. More often than not, this results in after-parties in neighborhoods that might not want that kind of activity from two until five or six in the morning. By keeping clubs open longer, the city would be able to mitigate noise-related issues in these communities, saving money on sending out patrol cars, as well as keeping those communities safer by reducing the number of non-resident individuals who could possibly destroy property or disturb neighbors in their drunken state. A similar argument was made by Legend Valley owner Laura Trickle as a reason to keep the Lost Lands festival this past September open later. “We have done music until 2, 3, 4 a.m. at every show, except county jam, to keep people entertained,” Trickle said. “These people are 25, 26 and still up and having fun, and want to stay up until 2-3 in the morning. That’s the reason we go late. (If not) I can’t guarantee they’ll stay there.” In a statement regarding the veto, Senator Wiener writes, “While I’m disappointed, we aren’t giving up. Cities should be able to decide locally what nightlife makes sense for their communities. I’ll introduce the bill again in 2019. Third time’s a charm!” Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Bill To Extend Bar Hours To 4 AM In California Vetoed By Governor Source

Steve Angello just teased a brand new song — and with a Swedish House Mafia tour on the horizon, we have reason to believe this could be one of the trio’s latest productions. If so, Swedish House Mafia has taken a darker turn, with music more suitable for the club than the main stage. Angello’s 21-track HUMAN EP was constructed around similar vibes, so whether this is a solo track or the return of SHM, his influence is definitely heard loud and clear. Recently Axwell Λ Ingrosso announced that they’d put their project as a duo on hold as the triple-threat act reunites for a 2019 tour. “[We] will actually put it on the shelf. As I usually say, there are three dots, it’s not two plus a dot,” Ingrosso said. “But we will definitely still do our individual stuff.” He also confirmed that they’d be back in the studio after summer to “try to do something fun together.” Listen to a clip of the new production below. Do you think this sounds like the new wave of Swedish House Mafia or is it all Steve Angello? We’ll have to wait and see to be sure. P.S. Listen to more Swedish House Mafia IDs below. Phantoms stray from their usual vibe for a brand new, pop-driven track featuring Vanessa Hudgens in this unexpected collab. We had to do a double take at the credits, but the electronic duo and the Hollywood star prove to be an ear-pleasing match. “Lay With Me” sounds like a throwback track with new school twist. Hudgens belts out sultry lyrics while Phantoms throw down a lush, pounding beat — and the result is unlike anything heard before. “Making this song was such a serendipitous experience.” Phantoms discuss the making of the single. “We grew up with Vanessa then weirdly ran into her at the airport last year and talked about working on music at some point. Then a few months later we got in the studio and recorded this song. It was a cool way to reconnect since the last time we all hung out we were around 16 years old. So happy this song is finally out, it’s one of our favorites.” The guys behind Phantoms, Kyle Kaplan and Vinnie Pergola were teenage actors and ultimately chose the music route. Meanwhile, Vanessa has starred in everything from High School Musical to Spring Breakers. And, she’s in the upcoming film Polar, which deadmau5 is slotted to make the score for. The iconic Las Vegas Strip will go dark on Monday night to remember the victims of Route 91 Harvest Festival. Tomorrow marks the anniversary of the deadliest mass shooting in US history — as one man singlehandedly killed 58 people and wounded over 400 more. Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak commented on behalf of the city. “A lot of people have probably put it out of their minds,” he said. “The anniversary is going to bring up a lot of feelings, good and bad.” On October 1, 2017, thousands of music fans from all over were gathered on the Las Vegas strip for Route 91 Harvest Festival. Country’s Jason Aldean was shutting things down when around 10:05 pm, Stephen Paddock sprayed bullets down from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay. Ten minutes and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition later, the shooting stopped at 10:15 pm. Paddock then turned the gun on himself before police swarmed the room. The marquees all along the Las Vegas Strip will go dark tomorrow to mark the first anniversary since the horrific event. At 10:05 pm, the victims’ name will be read in a ceremony at Community Healing Garden, a memorial site downtown. Governor Brian Sandoval also ordered flags across the state to fly at half staff on Monday. “The people of Nevada will never forget this tragic day, and hold the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in their thoughts and prayers,” he said. Zedd and Shawn Mendes have been contemplating a collaboration since July, but in the meantime, the producer has just dropped a remix of the latter’s funky, soulful single “Lost In Japan.” Mendes has just the kind of voice that works well with Zedd’s style of poppy production, at least now that he’s left his Clarity style in the dust. A lot of the hallmarks of Zedd’s production are on display here: the ticking clock samples, the mildly auto-tuned and harmonized vocals, the telltale percussion. The drop plays into the original’s funky vibe, keeping the bouncy rhythm and using that addictive bassline as a guideline for the rest of the melody and progression. It’s a decent remix by any account, but we’re still struggling personally with the fact that this is Zedd’s new direction. That’s not a criticism of the track, but something we’ll just have to get over in time. Listen to Zedd’s remix of “Lost In Japan” by Shawn Mendes below.
