  1. football clubs are always full of drunken yobo's wanting to fight and be dicks. don't seem to matter if your the dj, a guest of a friend or you just end up at one. its a wanker fest at best. anytime. anywhere. sucks you had to go through so much rubbish to get home though mate. but yeah. football clubs. never had a good day in one.
  2. oh yea. very true.
  3. should of asked the dickhead to jump behind the decks and do better. what an asshole
  4. na all my gear is pretty new. so it will all break way too easily. probably nothing short of a fall from my desk to the floor.
  5. most the time is a pretty simple issue and we all get stuck with em. at least now you know
  6. shame. I really like Grimes. reminds me of a new years festival i went to. the big act is the new years count down 11pm-12. usually the dj plays a huge track to bring in the new year. One ass one year played the abc's song (a,b,d.. now i know my abc's) at midnight. he thought it was funny as anything. for the rest of us in party mode. it was a complete mood killer. jokes are still meant to be funny right?
  7. welcome mate!
  8. was a pretty funny read
  9. While we collectively look to certain companies in the DJ industry to be visionary leaders and to create the roadmap for future generations of digital DJs, sometimes these companies just put out regular useful products to reinforce the brand. And Native Instruments’ Traktor DJ Cable is just that. Why not Kable? Despite being the most obvious of products, NI still took the time to put out a video. To the more experienced, this is a no-brainer product, but to newbies coming into the DJ game all fresh-faced, understanding about cueing and suchlike does requite some explanation. Full caps overload – no need to shout! Uncharacteristically, NI have broken no new ground here. Indeed, it’s just a regular audio splitter to create 2 mono channels from a single stereo one. It’s identical to the algoroddim Griffin DJ Cable and Urban Ears Slüssen, but with a Traktor logo on it. Yes, you’ve been able to buy audio splitters for a dog’s age on eBay for a fiver, but this does at least look like it’ll take a sustained beating. I can’t leave this story without drawing an obvious comparison, brought about by NI’s own photography. I don’t think a DNA test is necessary do you? Source: djworx.com

  16. The small crew at Stagecraft Software has just finished and released their latest project, Scratch Track, which is a VST plugin that allows timecoded vinyl to be used in any DAW or audio software that supports plugins. Watch a complete demonstration of all of the plugin’s features that take timecode to the next level & read a quick interview with the developer. We spoke to Aaron – the founder and sole employee of Stagecraft Software – to learn more about the plugin. Hey Aaron! What are the biggest advantages of using Scratch Track in a DAW versus a normal DVS system? Being a modular plugin certainly has its advantages. We can route the audio in creative ways, adding chains of effects to the turntables output, automating the parameters in ways that would not be possible in the real world (64th note crossfades, etc), syncing of the clips to the DAW playhead (beat matching loops, which means we can scratch them, but then resync at will), and recording snippets of sounds from the DAW to the plugin for immediate scratching (the plugin can record loops from the DAW). But the real advantage here is that we can record the outputs directly. From an EDM producer’s standpoint – this gets rid of the need for a massive amount of equipment, and a library of printed vinyls to scratch, plus reduces latency because we don’t need to use rewire or other third party drivers to route the audio from the DVS to the DAW. With one turntable, some time coded vinyl, and this plugin, you can lay down a collection of scratches immediately. Put simply, this is the easiest way to add scratches to a track. What timecode vinyl does Scratch Tracks support? Serato Scratch Live, Traktor Scratch, Traktor MKII, Torq, Ms Pinky. Can you use scratch track to beatmatch/mix tracks in a more traditional manner well? Full tracks can be loaded up, and there is support for beat matching. Having said that – this product is not focused on traditional DJing (there are no playlists, and you cannot hold longer tracks in loop mode as you might with traditional DVS systems). It will allow you to crossfade between the DAW output and what is playing on the turntable, however, so for the DJ who wants to alternate between playing a track, and performing within a DAW environment, this is just the ticket. How is the latency? Will vinyl purists be happy with the response? On par with any DVS system – the turntable velocity curve is recalculated every 32 samples, regardless of input buffer size. The crossfade uses nonlinear equations to smooth the response between incoming midi notes, giving an extremely natural response curve. It is definitely up to professional standards. How big is your team, and how long did this project take? Ha! My team is me. I use “we” in all the videos because my marketing team (also me) thinks that sounds better. I have ongoing work with several well known music companies however, and am developing a VST effects library in conjunction with OpenLabs. Look for all that coming soon. What’s next? Well, a few things are in the works. - A more traditional DJ DVS plugin is definitely coming soon (two turntables, plus playlists), to allow traditional DJing inside ableton and other hosts - Several more plugins are already available on the website (Cloud Browser – which allows you to search SoundsCloud and then drag-n-drop samples right into your DAW, as well as a really nice delay plugin). - A few new and innovative plugins are on the way (a beat analyzer that lets you grab the beat from incoming audio in real time and replicate it with different sounds, or as midi, and some DJ glitch style effects) - And the ongoing standalone project (Livetronica Studio), which is a fresh approach to modular DJing. This is a standalone, live performance oriented, drum machine, plus plugin host plus synth, plus sequencer, plus DVS. Basically a DAW environment that allows scratching. Don’t expect this too be perfect just yet, but the beta is up and easily available on the website. Source: djtechtools.com
  17. Fans might be surprised to know that Dillon Francis’ new single, “Without You,” is a detailed account of his recent relationship woes. And the truth is, the first time the L.A.-based moombahton DJ and producer heard the song, he was shocked, too. While in the studio with Orlando Higginbottom, better known as the DJ project Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED for short), Francis started talking about the girl he was dating at the time. “[TEED] kept smoking his cigarettes and I was just telling him about my life being like, ‘My girlfriend, I want her to move out of my place, but I don’t want her to think it’s me breaking up with her, I want her to think it’s us moving apart so that we can grow bigger together as a couple,’” Francis told Radio.com while at Lollapalooza over the weekend. The following day, the two were back in the studio and Francis heard TEED singing a new set of lyrics that sounded a bit too familiar. “He’s like, ‘I’m singing this about your exact situation right now, I’m actually basing it off everything you told me yesterday,” Francis explained. “It was kind of amazing… I’ve never had a song written about my life, that’s why it’s so dear to me.” Listen to “Without You,” below. http://soundcloud.com/dillonfrancis/without-you-feat-totally Apparently, his fans are also connecting with the track’s we’re-breaking-up-but-everything’s-going-to-be-fine theme. “A lot of people have been tweeting at me and on Facebook saying, ‘I really relate to this, I totally understand what you’re saying,’” Francis said, before quickly clarifying. “What he’s saying about my relationship.” On Francis’ upcoming album, he plans to show more of his sensitive side, revealing that at least four songs on the record will be in the same vein as “Without You,” which he says is a “great guide for everybody in a relationship.” Francis is looking to avoid a trend permeating mainstream electronic music, which often puts a premium on harsh, party-ready beats in lieu of subtlety. “You can hear it on the song I’m trying to go back a little bit,” he said. “Like, ‘Let’s tone it down guys. We don’t need to hit every person hard in the face with every song that we make.’” While there’s no official date attached to his upcoming record–Francis says it could be out any time between November and February– Francis said the next single will be a club record with DJ Snake. “It’s like a really weird 100 bpm club record.” And even though Francis doesn’t know when this new song will actually be released (he thought maybe October), he’s already thought about the video. “The music video we have is really amazing. It’s animated. [DJ Snake] and I go to a club and blow all our money, but very cliché,” Francis explained. “I want it to be like every rap video that was ever made about a club.” Source: radio.com

  19. Pioneer has just launched a brand new line of speakers targeted specifically at the bedroom DJ market - the S-DJ speaker line. These active speakers have a very familiar form factor to anyone familiar with the KRK line of products, with a range of models that scale up in driver size (between five to eight inches) and price depending on the volume needs of the DJ. Pioneer is touting a number of audio quality features in their press release for this speaker line, including: Groove Technology: To improve airflow through the port of the enclosure, Pioneer engineered the port hole with grooves to help direct the sound waves smoothly. The technique decreases standing waves from the mouth of the port, resulting in smooth bass and midbass output, with more impact. Convex Diffuser: Matching the bass output of the speakers, the soft dome tweeters are set in the center of a convex diffuser optimizing output and dispersing the sound energy in both left and right directions for wider imaging. For a cool cosmetic look, the diffuser also illuminates in white when the speakers are powered on. Class AB bi-amp: Driving the speakers is a highly efficient Class AB amplifier in a bi-amp configuration to power the tweeters and woofers separately. EQ Controls: The speakers also enable users to adjust high-pass level output via the built-in equalizer from the back of the speaker. The equalizer adjusts the high frequency range in one decibel increments (-2dB to +1dB), tailoring the audio output to the user’s listening preference. The S-DJ80X, S-DJ60X and S-DJ50X/S-DJ50X-W are sold as individual speakers (not in pairs) and will be available in September with suggested retail prices of $299, $239, and $179 respectively.
