I stumbled across this today, serato have brought out what looks like a stripped down version of itch, to use with low to mid level controllers. Not sure how new it is, but haven't heard of it before, nor seen anyone talk about it on here. From screenshots and a quick read looks comparable to traktor le. I think it is a free download if you own a supported controller. When i get uncapped on my net i might have to download and try it out. Below is taken from the downloads page on the site - http://serato.com/dj-intro Serato DJ Intro is a new software designed for people who love music. Serato DJ Intro allows for traditional two deck mixing of digital music files from a computer. Features in Serato DJ Intro 1.0.1 Two tracks can be mixed simultaneously using traditional DJ controls - scratch, nudge, pitch bend, EQ Serato Sync locks tracks together for seamless grooves Serato Crates make audio file management easy. Advanced iTunes integration Cue points allow you to quickly access specific parts of songs Loops repeat selected sections DJ-FX will enhance any DJ set, delay, filter and reverb, three FX chainable for each deck Sample Player can play up to four short samples, audio loops, sound effects or full length tracks in addition to the two tracks you’re mixing Hardware support Serato DJ Intro 1.0.1 supports the following controllers: Numark MixDeck Numark MixDeck Express Numark MixTrack Pro Vestax Typhoon Vestax VCI-100 Mk II OS Support Mac OS X 10.7.1 / 10.6.8 / 10.5.8 Windows 7 / Vista / XP 32-bit Windows 7 / Vista 64-bit Download archive To download previous versions of Serato DJ Intro please visit our Downloads archive. Might download and check it out on the old mixtrack pro. What do you guys think? Viable alternative to VDJ and traktor le?

umm doesn't really tell us a heap. in the back of the computer there is sometimes a separate line input from the mic input. Or it switches between them. But if you don't know it might be easier to explain how to do it using the traktor card. http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... ?page=1963 According to here it says "Mixer output connected to front input of TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 for recording into your laptop." I don't own one of these so I don't know alot more than that, but i imagine if you connect the record out from mixer into the front input of traktor. Are you using traktor timecodes to control your decks? if so you can just use internal recording in traktor. Otherwise you can use audacity and select the traktor card in preferences and see how that goes

Did you see if you had a line in on the computer? you won't even need the traktor card if you do, and is less to set up

Video recording set - Test, Thoughts? [Video Embedded]

get your mashup on yo' yer that was pretty cool man, sound quality was decent for a youtube vid (im only listening through laptop though) you did set up the record out into the computer separate from the webcam didnt' you? -
There is heaps of different ways, two I can think of off the top of my head: -one track + its remixes per cd. With this way if you Want them in a-z every new song you'll have to shift all your cds, or Just have them in order from oldest-newest. -another method is the month you download them, put all those new tracks on CDs and label them with the month + the tracks on it. Can even split this up even more and make one for each set of keys for each month "eg October 2011 1-3" Would be all the music you download this month in key numbers 1-3. Ultimately nobody can tell you the 'best' way, as what works is different for everybody. And btw yer Im pretty sure you've made a thread on this before, why didn't you search it up?

Mitch replied to CapFive's topic in Competitions, Battles & Collabs
Capfive - very smooth as always, nice one -
No probs
-
O yer cdj definately smaller and lighter than Turntables, thought you'd gone crazy though saying they were smaller than midi lol, as op was comparing midi to cdj, not tt's
-
Smaller than what? My CDJ setup is easily 3-4 times bigger than my midi controller. And about 50 times heaver
-
These are good keep em coming!

I'm no expert on the high end controllers, but there is alot of people are saying there is other controllers out there that offer better bang for your buck. Capfive gives a bit of a run down on some of the high end controllers in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7247 He doesn't review the Traktor S4 or Numark NS6 though, which are also definately worth considering. All very capable pieces of equipment in the right hands. So for a decent controller your looking at about 1000-1500 (rough figures) New mac - 1500-2000 depending on what you get So that = anywhere between 2500-3500 for a new digital setup with new laptop. For that price your in ballpark for a very decent full CDJ set.. e.g. http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/specials/ ... jm700.html Or if you are looking at investing back in TTs, you could either try pick up used Techies, or Stanton St150s i've heard are also a top notch deck. The world is at your feet man, just gotta decide how much $$ you want to spend, and what type of setup you want to invest in So its all up to deciding ultimately what you want to mix, where you want to take your mixing, and obviously what your comfortable using. Definitely go to a DJ shop and try everything out to see what you like before deciding to invest your $$ into some equipment. Good luck man

Just finished listening to this, enjoyed it man -Smooth transitions -Nice energy for a long mix, tended to flow fairly well when i was listening -Not all the one style of electro, changes it up abit between electro, more house style tracks, and even one that sounded a little bit disco-ish. Which for a longer set is good to mix it up a bit -Mixing was very clean Nice one man
