  1. hey djim. im pretty sure i could reduce it its just it worked on 5.5 so i left it. i remember reading an article sayin it was a good number. in regards to that latency thang. yeah everyone on NI forum raves about it.
  2. mine is on 5.5ms too im using 2.33 ghz dual core, i think 4gb ram, five year old lappy. i dont particularly scratch, except maybe the occassional wigga wigga cut. or i do the preview thing. you know drop one word quickly spin the deck back and keep just dropping that one word before releasing. so got to say havent noticed any significant delays from movement to sound. though i aint an old schooler on tts like yerself.
  3. nah man nothing personal, i was just clearing up a misconception a lot of people have (see yer previous post). and as per my very first post on this thread (and i tried to stay away) i dont really care for this debate. we know it already. tt guys bust on cdjs who bust on midis and so on. i only jumped in cause i dont agree w some of the comments being chucked at karma. but yeah really the point of contention is beatmatching.some seem to think thats what you need to become a dj. but i think what is the fundamental of a dj is playing prerecorded music for a purpose (mixtape, club, event). you can be perfectly technically but if you cant do the above then to me you cant dj. and as you can see beatmathing is irrelevant to that. as i said i can beatmatch manually. but karma is a better dj than i am.
  4. to correct, you cant use autosync when using turntables and tsp. because of the wow and flutter of turntables. also the OP was saying modern djs are getting lazy. someone mentioned sync and then it became the bash the sync guy. but its all good and i know weve had this convo before. and your point hits it on the head, to you beatmatching is the skill that makes a dj. i dont agree.
  5. so you dont think cdjs have made djing any easier to using turntables? you dont think there are some things people who use cdjs can do that can never be replicated using turntables? i guess we see things differently. and dont get me wrong i aint knockin cdj users or really believe they are cheating, i just dont understand the hypocricy of someone who accepts the technology and advancement of cdjs and then would mock another
  6. in fact having read that again. how is setting a loop so you can manually beatmatch any better than someone pressing the sync button? you basically make it so you can just keep moving the pitch up and down till you hit your target. sounds like a massive help to me....
  7. ^this. so you use it to enhance your set or as an emergency. i dont think djs had that advantage of magically just pressing a button. a lot of djs to this day still do the quick backspin to repeat a loop within a song to enhance the feeling of the next part of the song, be it a drop or whatever. especially if its going into the section everyone is waiting for.
  8. i have never used sync button because i use tsp with turntables. i beat match manually, and i worked hours to learn how to do what i do. i still dont hate autosyncers. are we dj's really so one dimensional that the only thing that makes us cut the grade is the ability to beatmatch? i can beatmatch manually, but i can guarnatee my sets sound much worse than karma's. so who should club promoters hire. me the technical old schooler, or someone who can actually dj?
  9. nothing wrong with using loops but cdj's made dj's lazy by looping at a press of a button. the correct way to loop is to take 2 of the same records and then play the 4, 8, 16 beat you want then cut to the other side, play that same loop while quickly spinning back the other deck and then cutting over. and then repeat for how long you want your loop to go for. of course you could still do this with your cdjs, but looping is one of those technologies that is accepted and not called cheating (though it still in facts allows a dj to play a better set much easier)
  10. same thing really
  11. just do the running man for 1 minute and upload it. its not good to keep your fans waiting, people will unsubscribe. jst jking sol ja boi
  12. was checking on kentaro's site as i normally do each month to see if he is coming back to oz. and came across this cool interview from the days before his release "Enter" (which is a great release in the vein of old school tt's and mpc production sounds - not exactly sure if thats how they did it but that style). anyways, interviewer was Andrez Bergen!. adjf's own andrez if im not mistaken (the !IF records holmie). http://de-vice-third.tripod.com/id29.html this is quoted from the link above, none of it is my work.
  13. damn flosstradamus from fools gold played apparently. im assuming no one hit it
  14. i aint having a go, its all good. do what you do mann
  15. hey bruno. havent used 400's before but the +6,+10,+16 and wide is how far the pitch controls can increase the speed which in turn controls how sensitive the pitch controller is. i.e if you have on +16 a smaller movement will have a bigger effect than if it were on +6. secondly the counters are only an estimation. you cant use exact maths like that. use that as a guide if you must to begin your pitch (most people say begin faster first so that way you already know your pitching down to beatmatch), then use your ears to match it. EIDT: oops wasnt repeating, facked just types faster but yep what he says
  16. cupe i think that comment was about headphones
  17. deadmau5. poor guy cops it from everyone
  18. wait but isnt that being hypocritical. you say modern dj is becoming lazy yet use technology to do loops because its easier? anyways i was just being a dick. its just we know it already. people who use turntables bust on cdj users who bust on midi guys who bust on vdj and so on . every new gen is gonna do something that makes things easier. and ther will be an elite few who will hate on you for it. what i find funny is how some technological advances are acceptable and others arent (like looping) even though it makes things easier. when someone asks how do mix in a song with an intro not long enuff, everyone says just go and extend it yourself using a software program. and thats accepatble.(?) thats cheating isnt it. you use to have to use the instrumental in the bridge, or the outro, and then quickly load up the same song on the other deck and mix into the beginning. so i just dont understand why somethings are cheating while somethings are technological advancements. but yeah its all rhetorical no need to answer cuz i dont think there is one.
  19. loops are lazy. what happened to rocking doubles, and doing the 5 second backspin to create loops. and who said cdj's arent cheating
  20. i was more if ya got something lyin around. on the other hand if your going to buy something cheapy for $100, then maybe its worth waiting till you can get $200 that would be better. one possible option is to get something for $100 that you would use outside of djing, that way once you can afford proper cans you still geting the benefit off em. there are a few in-ear monitors in that price range (i think). craze and z-tripuse in-ears. ill try to find some, but of course they have pro grade ones which are expensive as
  21. nice little spank rock interview. cant wait for the new album. damn been five years since yoyoyoyoyo http://spankrock.net/#ooid=ZrbzZnMjrvuJgQkiZ3v7n6CDZzPfKF9J what the fug is with embeds today
  22. yeah fer sure hoddi at home just use what you have. im using an eleven year old micro stereo (and it still goes hard at my little house parties). and i setup my nephew with his little guitar amp you get in beginner sets. in terms of headphones its the same as speakers all you need as a minimal to learn is something that you can hear the kick and block out the monitor. i learnt using some cheap skullcandies i picked up at thailand. worked a treat but pretty flimsy and not made for djing so eventually cracked. on the other hand if you are buying, and since they will be the cheapest piece in your set invest for long term ones. i rock a&h xd 53s you cant fail w the classis seinheisser hd 25s either but more importantly dont pay retail price for em. in any given span of four weeks one of the stores is on sale
  23. we already have a thread for this. pls dont start unnecessary threads. are you bot?
