i know but beyonce didnt rip it off if switch came and said hey lets do this joint. yeah otay i guess they should have called it a remix or something as opposed to a new single
-
how is it a rip off if switch (from major lazer) produced the beats for beyonce?
-
cereal?, i love her voice. she's getting her monster minaj on before minaj even existed. yeah thats a bad video (and its flipped?). there are other better flowing versions but they were all bleeped out. i like that song, even the old 50's interview section. id buy it. i think its based off an old eazy e (possibly nwa) track

richo house music has always used sampling. and edm is still rich with sampling. check frederick mooij's eternal elect album. frraking awesome disco/funk/house album. with samples from some classic 90s tracks.
-
this is a couple years old but still goes hard
-
what about when edm artists get rappers to rap on their tracks, or turntablists to provide some scratches, or when they sample some classic track. thats shit too yeah.
-
wow cupestar chruning them out like booooaaasss. ill check when i gets on a pc

did you notice the keyboard box? i wonder if they just bought one or cart it around in the original box. yeah the guys are at the cannes film festival but obviously cant stop working (or maybe take the oppurtunity to sell their wares to the other artists out there for the event).

and to be clear i was saying it as a point that technology has always been changing the game not just lately as i think the OP was getting at. but i personally dont think cdj people are lazy or cheating. they can do things you just cant do with tt's, which is a good thing!
-
beatless the comment was looping, cueing and hot cueing (or dropping one shots) is easier with cdjs. not manual looping is easier. i.e as per OP the modern dj has gone lazy because of technology. they can spice up their set at a press of a button oh and just to confirm im not talking about turntabilism. im talking about mixing. example, to make a build you could loop as i describe above but slowly bring down the line fader on each loop till eventually silence. after a few beats. push line fader to full and let the next bit play. or if you wanted to echo the outgoing track once you have completed tge transition you would spin the outgoing track a couple beats a few times while each time moving the line fader from 100 to 0 to 80 to 0 to 60 to 0 to 40 to 0.

yeah man its easy to get sucked into it huh. i watched lots of dvd's and youtubes while searching on ebay. i think i went a whole six months before just saying fugg it. go cop the scratch film. esp disc 2 where ztrip does a good little tutorial. not very intricate but kinda funny and cool. atraks bio/ slef made sunglasses is a must was also one i copped early on and kentaros enter tour dvd. but pretty much all the dmc stuff is online now. and if ya already havent some people to check, they got all the social networks going, in fact i posted up craze's ustream video which is cool: craze atrak kentaro ztrip shiftee (who does tutes on dubspot) jazzy jeff shadow of course the mann if you like to itch, qbert

ere http://www.ausdjforums.com/modules.php? ... pic&t=5841 then $300 for a cheap new or a second hand 2 channel mixer. and you still got cash left over for vinyl. or maybe cans if you need em, but being a musician im sure you already have a set. in fact you may actually have enuff leftover for tsp duo (??)

getting old son. getting old. bwahahaha

well when you people pay you a few milli per beat why not. still wondering what ever happened to the track where nas paid them like a gizzillion dollars becuase he didnt want anyone else to have the beat.
-
oh and i forgot to mention. the old school djers just grabbed old blues, funk and disco records. which you can score for dirt cheap at record fairs, those dingy second hand book stores across from nearly all record stations. many hip hop djs (especially paying for breakers and rappers) dont actually play the club, chart, rnb music that people think. they play funk and soul tracks and just extend the breaks, or do loops, echos and basically remix it live. dj mathematic was killing it at the hip hop fest at redfern earlier this year.
-
hey man. if you scratching you dont really need to many records. a handful of battle records and you can scratch yerself silly. then maybe even grab just a handful of break, dnb, dubstep, rnb or hip hop and scratch over that with yer battle record. but in terms of equip. $1500 is plenty. you can usually get 2 second hand tt's for less than $1000 (check the buy and sell raptor is selling two techy right now). then buy a cheap 2 channel mixer. any of the numarks or second hand stantons will do. and youll prob still have enuff left over to buy a ton of records. eventually if you want to move onto mixing, and dont want to sink in to records , esp. if you already have a large selection of music on cd's and digitally you can buy a DVS (scratch live, traktor scratch pro, mix vibes). but they will need a laptop.
