oh. thats production credits not ghost writing. yeah neptunes provided beats, lyrics, rhymes, hooks for every man and their dog. there was a time when they would have 50% of the charts (led to their ultimate demise as does anything that becomes famous. damn tall poppy). theres always that urban legend that nas paid $2M for a beat that he didnt want anyone else to have. wonder what happened to that.
-
really? i thought it was the other way around. he used to get hacked on because everyone said malice & pusha t ghost wrote all his early rhymes. which all 3 deny.

man i was clubbing when i was 17, ha ha. i think it was a little easier back then to get into places. 34 now. collector wasnt so much a club rather a pub with a live venue at the time. moshed like hell out there ha ha. yeah havent been back there since prob 2001-2002 where there had already been some nice upgrades with the outside area and the thai restaurant. and that was just to go to the thai place. so if they kept doing it up im sure its swanky.
-
oh and for the record, i grew up in west sydney i know collectors. i saw nitocris there many a time. anyone who knows grrl metal bands of the 90's will know nitocris. lurved their bass player back in the day. yeah and we could wear hoodies then! but i was more likely wearing a flanno and 12 hole dr martens with the purple laces. ha ha
-
oh. and no hoodies? what type of place is this! he he i cant go anywhere i cant have my hoodie and my chucks!
-
bloody hell went to the site and didnt realise my sound was turned up, so everyone heard a massive "collector hotel...." ha ha ha is the info for the comp only in the slide show? too quick man. post up the flyer in here if you can? anywho so basically you just want an email thru the contacts page. this dude doesnt have a sound cloud as he is all vinyl right now so has never recorded his stuff. may get him to bring some records to my place and ill record thru traktor to see if we can get something up if he is interested.

couldnt tell if you were being sarcastic or not, but anywho yeah i liked it. admittedly im not a big trancy guy so didnt actually know tiesto or his music. im sure id seen the jesus pose in 3d a couple of times but thats it. only got into kaleidoscope thru my bro's who are tegan & sara fans and knew that i was a bloc party fan. but yeah i love the tegan & sara, kele & nelly furtado tracks. and also LA ride. everytime i hear that i actually picture riding low rider bicycles in LA

hey skank ill go check the deets and pass it onto my homie whos been showing me a thang or two about djing. gaining residency may not help him as he works hospitality (means pretty much every night gone) but who knows he may go the dj route and chuck in his day (night) job.
-
it says he is credited, not really ghost writing. he is a co-producer of the track. like i said, tiesto is the artist who releases songs that are produced by him and geert?? yes google did come up with a television theme song which was credited as tiesto but was done by this dude, but hardly ghost writing. EDIT: okay i guess the correct way would have been to say the track was by both of them. but i guess it depends on the contribution
-
blaspheme you couldnt spot technics! just kidding i wouldnt be able to tell the difference amongst cdj's. if it wasnt for the big azz pioneer brandning on them i wouldnt know the brands either.
-
hmmmm. i dont know if thats the exact definition. its not uncommon for someone to produce another artists tracks. in fact its quite common for people to be producers only and never release as an artist. isnt a ghost writer someone who writes lyrics for songs for other people but are then uncredited. like ice cube wrote nearly all lyrics for nwa, lil wayne wrote all lyrics for the cash money billionnaires except juvie, jay z ghost writes for dre etc... cant say ive ever heard of it from an edm point of view but then again i aint no producer...

wu-huuu im a bit of a N.E.R.D nerd. a lot of y'all prob know some of their cross-over chart hitting singles but they gotta lot of awesome tracks, and i love their albums because of their willingness to go all over the shop in terms of genres and sounds (except maybe fly or die which had a lot the same same). ive got music A.D.D., cant particularly handle the same sound for too long and hence why i find it hard to listen to most artists albums. as ive said before i dont really like to hear a track for at least another week once ive heard it, and i usually dont want to hear te same artist for at least another hour. anywho just saying they usually mixx it up quite well. anyone who has never heard the "In Search of..." album. grab it, it kills. and even better Chromeo opening!! wuuu-huuuu-huuuu. i copped their new album last week i love it. anyopne into that funky synth 80's sound hit it up.

ADJF Mixtape Mix Comp - Win DVS 7 & Timecoded Vinyl
eggssell replied to wazza's topic in Competitions, Battles & Collabs
hmmmm. i was just thinkng what do turntable dj's do in these mix comps!! considering how much we go on about them being the real dj's they get a bum deal with dj comps huh? -
yeah man ive said in a previous thread, a dude now on a major label (possibly busy p's) said how he produced a song that got so much buzz promoters started booking him and he knew fuck all about djing. so he just go up there played a shyte load of songs that he liked, straight out cross fade no beat mixing, then eventually scored so many gigs he eventually got taught how to use cdj'sby labelmates on the tour bus!! chris you selling yerself short bruh, you made some good tracks man!!
