Hey guys, so ive had these decks for a while now and never taken advantage of the memory function....which is STUPID so i have decided to start saving cues and all that good stuff, but if i save cues on one song in lets say CDJ A, i wont be able to use those saved cue points in CDJ B just wondering if there is a way i can transfer the data between the two SD cards AND how big would you guys reccomend for memory, 1GB should be enough yes?

u sure its the equipment? some songs change tempo as it progresses, it is a PAIN!!! try looping a certain section and mix that in, that way you know it will all be the same BPM
-
haha the cds i actually use are in a cd wallet. i dont realli use them, but on the off chance that i do they arent scratched got a nice sarong from bali that i cover up the decks to stop dust from gettin on em
-
i hope thats true looks pretty awesome to me

just had a quick listen to it again, sounds like its got a pretty constant BPM u COULD possibly mix the melodic section (in the middle) of it thou, there is no kickdrum you could also slow it down to match the other BPM's, but ive found that that normally doesnt sound too good if u have drastic changes in the BPM Edit: Just ran the song through a BPM checking software and turns out its 125 BPM, which is fine

dunno if id mix with pendulum they have pretty high BPMs dont they? (round the 140+ mark)

'over played Afrojack songs' THIS! Sunny beautiful morning, winds pick up by noon, freezing afternoon, sunny again, pissing down rain and gale force winds by 4pm, sunny again just before it hits dark, freezing cold at night i think that sums up melbourne's weather

i actually dont mind DJ Bl3nd's mixes i jsut wish he wouldnt dance around like that makes it VERY hard to like him
-
thats exactly what i was tihnking ive noticed in alot of songs there will be the 'banging' bit, then there will be a quiet melodic stage and then the main baning bit will come again again (dont know the proper technical terms ) would it be a bad idea to play that slow melodic section? or once again, is it alll upto how you want the set to go and the energy of it
-
just reviving this topic again, in preperation for CapFives comp how long woudl you guys recommend letting a song play for before u begin to transition the next one? i heard someone sayin they change teh songs every 2 mins, is this the way to do it or is it one of those cases where there is no right and wrong?
-
thanks heaps guys, i ithnk im starting to get the idea a bit better now im liking the idea of creating mini mixes, might build on that idea a bit cheers =D

read first post bro... oh wow thats embarassing for me, i thought i read it properly, apparently not soz guys.. pretend i said nothing ;P

agreed with no being a dickhead but constructive criticism is more valuable than positive feedback good luck Sol
-
yea thats wat i was inthking u wouldnt be able to take the same approach to a slower song either somehow slamming a slow song on doesnt seem like a good idea
-
yea that makes sense, cheers guys i guess its been feeling a bit un natural tryin to manage tempo changes cause ive only been doin like 30min mixes, so any tempo changes seems a bit rushed when changing the tempo would you gradually increase the tempo over many songs..for exmaple, increase the tempo from 128 > 130 over 10 songs OR would you slam the cross fader from song a (128bpm) to song b (130bpm)?
-
Hey guys ive been browsing the net and heard alot about what makes an effective set.everything seems to point to creating a set that is like a rollercoaster with ups and downs i can quite easily keep the set at a constant rate but im struggling to build it up nicely and bring it back down. how do you do it? is it song selection, changing the tempo...or a ocmbination of the both? CHEERS!
-
haha yea i tried my hand at producing with a mate (he had ableton) got SOO frustrated that i wasnt producing professional sounding songs on my first go...which is impossible to achieve. BUT STILL! thought i better stick to mixing for the time being
-
shit thast awesome, congrats i gotta put my head down, i wanna start working the clubs
