Just updated my gear for all students. Now students will be able to use all the same equipment used in the clubs! Coupled with exposure to multiple brands of mixers, cd drives and Sertato thrown in, theres now something for everyone Long overdue I think!

I've found many NAS drives to have far better throughput than a server/computer, but of course, the more speed, the higher the cost. The other reason I thought a NAS would be good is that it will be running its own embedded versions of Linux and should be very low maintenace for him. No Antivirus needed etc... Youn could get a HP server which will have plenty of drive bays or more ideally, you should get yourself a NAS drive. Perhaps an 4 bay NAS which will give you a max capacity of 12TB or an 8 bay NAS drive which will give you a max capacity of 36 Terrabytes. QNAP is a decent brand for NAS drives.

Hey All, Im looking to get a Dex DJ stand. The guy who builds them seems to be a really nice friendly guy with prompt replies to queries and the tables seem to be fully customisable. Does anyone have a Dex DJ stand? How are they? Build quality? Anyone want to review theirs ??

I've never had much luck with the Asus in regards to warranty issues so thats one reason why I personally like the Toshibas

What always gets me going again is this... New music.... I get bored with the same old music. I'm very busy in my life and dont really have too much time for djing any more. So I get a bunch of new tracks. Listen to them in the car and very soon I hear a few gems! once i hear some gems it gives me that spirit again! It also works well for me to download live sets from other pro djs who play a similar genre. I then hear new tracks and someone elses style of mixing. It always gets me going again hehe

I've got a few good sites I used to use for hard to get tracks. I also have a massive ammount of vinyl here and a lot of them still sealed as I used to run an online record store myself. I can give you a link to a catalouge if you like. I've also still got some access to vinyl distributors and might be able to give you some pointers. Are you still looking for specific titles or just new vinyl in general?

What about the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Do you have a sound driver control panel you can open (not the windows one)? Sometimes you need to manually tell it what you have plugged in. rare, but i've seen it. you would have to tell the sound driver that you are using it as a line in. You can also change the recording settings in the windows sound area. you can select to mute all items except for line in. thats also a good idea. Also check Audacity to ensure it only records from the linein source.

I always brought a double adaptor, powerboard and long extension cable too. life saver so many times.
