Wollongong beginner training and lessons
DJ_Raptor replied to DJ_Raptor's topic in Beginner DJ Tips & Tricks
Hi BigKev... Started mobile djing in the 90's, moved onto club residencies, under 18's and one off club shows, then started dj the local raves, then hard trance in clubs around sydney etc. I'm offering my services just to give the real beginner a point in the right direction. Basically helping to get the basics of beat matching and of course giving them exposure to CD, Vinyl and Serato. There are about 2 pages of different aspects of DJing that needs to be covered when I'm helping the beginner out. Hope that answers your question. -

DJ_Raptor replied to DJ_Raptor's topic in Beginner DJ Tips & Tricks
Hey Imadje, Thanks for the offer. I will PM you to compare notes Cheers -
Hi Guys, I'm thinking of offering lessons in the Wollongong area to get beginners started. Vinyl and CD. Theres not too much you cant learn by yourself, but a few handy pointers and lessons to get you started and on your way can be invaluable. If anyone is interested in the area, feel free to drop me a line! Thanks all!

Very funny you should post this! I was actually thinking of doing some official DJ training in wollongong for beginers! Do you still need help? -

-
And if you do decide to go down the turntable road (and I suggest you do, there great fun!).. then let me know as im selling mine. Cant beat the feel of vinyl

Hey Chev, Yeah i promised not to sell to anyone else because this guy was so keen... I had offers over $900 but I was true to my word and didnt sell as I promised them to him..... Needless to say, it backfired.. I've held onto them for like 6 months and he finally came good and said he doesnt have the money... So as annoying as it is.... i now have to go back to the drawing board and relist. Its not a big issue though becasue I know they will go pretty quickly.. just a shame it all had to drag out.

Best offer really. Last year the offers were generally between $800 - $900

Selling my 1210's.... If there are any serious buyers, I would be happy to upload pics. Theres are Excellent tables and have done me well. Positives -Excellent working condition -Have only been used several times since last service (serviced for the sake of it - not due to any fault) -One has had the fader upgraded to a no-centre click fader -One also has an upgrade to extra long RCA cable (best upgrade!!!) -Dust covers included -Never heavily used Potential buyer minor negatives -One dust cover with chip -One table needs a new popup LED -power cables are japenses format, but its the closest plug to native australia and can be made to work WITHOUT a power adaptor at NO cost Pics http://imageshack.us/g/18/img5360c.jpg/

Hey, I have just put my turntables on the market. they were to be sold last year, but the sale fell through. 2 x technics 1210mkII great turntables!
-
I honestly havent found any that do a good job. the best removal tool i can suggest though, is Combofix
-
I've always prefered Western Digital, but in all honesty, they are both as good as each other. I have been using them both for over 10 years and have seen bad batches from both vendors from time to time. Each vendor also has different types of 1tb hard drive. Eco drives (slow) standard drives as well as enterprise drives (very reliable and fast but expensive) you could always get a WD Mybook Mirror external (i think thats what its called). It has 2 hard drives and will mirror your data automatically giving you superior protection.

Sure Buck, what model you after?
-
Actually heres something you'll find interesting Buck... There are new solid state drives that I've been quoteing lately which plug into a PCI-Express slot on your motherboard. They have had to do this because they are now faster than the entire SATA interface and need to be plugged directly to the motherboard to bypass the bottleneck Amazing speeds. I want one hehe
-
hi egg, The great benefit is actually the speed. Its actually been said that the very best value upgrade you can do to a PC (even an old one) is move them to solid state drives. better than more ram etc.. The down side is that they have had all sorts of issues... slowing down over time... sectors failing after a certain ammount of read/writes etc... Some issues have been fixed, some have not. Its not something you would expect to have for 10 years, but its a big big speed boost for now.
-
Yep confirmed. your SSD has a 3.0 interface. i dare say your 1tb would def have 3.0 Here is a great site i found which also lists some 6.0 drives in case you need one. http://diskcompare.com/item/3922/
-
I would say your drives do not have a 6.0 interface/chipset in them. They are probably rated for 3.0 and thats what the motherboard sata controller detects when it polls the drives. That doesnt mean that the drives are running slower than they should.
-
Def do what Cupe says.... if it gets stuck on the driver stage you might be lucky and the drive might be fine. Rip it out, hook it to PC and see what happens. If you need to do data recovery, I like to use a program called GetDataBack for FAT or NTFS

I think so. I repied i thought. Let me check
-
Hey Eddie, I did accept an offer on them but the buyer hasnt paid in full yet. So, they are sort of sold, but not quite lol.
-
Thanks for that mate. I didnt know there were differnet colour crates and that you could set rules!! very nice I will probably contact you over the next week to get some advice as to how you best organise your tracks. Cheers for the reply
-
Hi Guys, Before I got Serato, I thought I would be smart and organise my tracks... eg. House folder --> then subfolders, Funky house, electro, new etc.... My question... I would ideally like to drag my top level folder "House" into the serato crates area and have it create all my sub folders as sub crates? so that the crates are the same as my folder structure. Is it possible?

dj warehouse, who is one of the only other suppliers who are autherised to sell serato in australia, which im told, means that only autherised sellers can provide any warranty support what soever.... They sell it for $925 So Storedj are doing it for about $100 off
