This is dope, Mixcloud has always been pretty based. More than happy to drop $15 a month if it means streams won't get taken down etc.

    Hello All!

It's been a while since I've posted so I thought I'd check in again.
Have been out of the industry for 2 or so years, got fed up with doing weddings and kissing promoters asses to get the smallest of club gigs. I brought some new equipment to try doing it as a passion, but I was just so burnt out at that point that I just couldn't enjoy mixing anymore.

Fast forward 2 years and here we are, those 900's I brought are still untouched but I can't bring myself to sell them. So I'm having one last crack at revitalizing my desire to DJ.
As a side note, I also do photography for a local radio station for their events. No cash for em only drink cards, but that's how I want it to there is no pressure if I fuck up.

Currently my goals are the following:
Move my Rekordbox library to my Surface Pro which I take to work everyday to find songs on my train ride home. Submit a Mini mix to my local radio station. Do some Twitch streams of me DJ'ing on Friday nights with some beers in hand. Short of this not happening, I will sell my decks and put it to bed. Can't bring myself to sell my PA or Sub though!

    Yay I'm referenced.
In my experience the best and pretty much only way to get gigs is word of mouth. Sure you can try gumtree adds and such but I've never witnessed them do that much.
Having a Facebook page is also nice, and looks good when people try to search you. However I would only use it for peoples reference when they do search you, as Facebook's default reach is pathetic. Unless 3 people like each post next to no one will actually see it in their feeds.
But again, WORD OF MOUTH really is the biggest key. Absolutely the biggest key. Do well at a gig, give out business cards to people who approach you or request stuff, or even come to say thanks after a gig. Also make sure to have them in easy access during the night also (for people who approach).
100% of my gigs these days are from chaining gigs. If I do well at a gig il give out about 10 business cards around the end + whatever is taken during the night. From that I usually receive 5 call backs or enquiries (FB adds etc also), and from that I usually receive 1-2 bookings.
Just keep that word of mouth going and give every gig your all, show that you put the effort in and watch it grow

SolDios got a reaction from Cupe in Hand Build DJ Facade
Mother & Me built a Facade over the last two weekends. Probably ended up costing about $200 in materials.

Used MDF wood, 5 cans of spray paint, material from spotlight & bathroom door lift away hinges.

Overall looks pretty good, but I'd say if you have the money and don't have much time on your hands just buy one instead.

SolDios reacted to Kodiak in Locked Off - Britain's Illegal Raves
Rave culture is one of Britain's great cultural exports, but after its first wave in the late 1980s and early 1990s it was forced into the underground by stringent new laws and the rise of licensed super clubs.
Fast forward 25 years into the midst of a nationwide purge on the UK's nightlife, where nearly half of all British clubs have shut down in the last decade, and a new kind of scene has emerged: a 21st century version of rave, where young people break into disused spaces with the help of bolt-cutters and complicated squatting laws, to suck on balloons and go hard into the early morning.
But with the police using increasingly extreme tactics to clamp down on these parties, and more than one fatality causing a nationwide media panic, can the scene survive?

I have the same issues, been playing for 3 years.

The key here is experience, the more you do it, the less big of a deal it becomes.

This, Just don't expect a sync button to be on em, you will most likely be on CDJ 900's or 2000 MK1's.

TBH even 20m will be enough with em, if you can beat match by ear all you need to get used to is the track browser.
