  1. my exact point in the gig thread
  2. standing in the shade is still natural light, but is not direct sunlight
  3. ^^ Jaz, never had a crash or any issues using my 2007 macbook pro when i was using my midi controller. Both setups have their ups and downs. Try both setups out, get what suits your needs, and what you feel comfortable with

  5. i second keeping out of direct sunlight, but get it somewhere to get the warmth and natural light. Even a fan as jaz said could help if there isn't much breeze about
  6. she spilt beer on the decks, i wouldn't hesitate to get her to foot the repair bill, especially if she offered lol
  7. Nice one on the gig. get her to pay up IMO.
  8. nice one suby especially at such short notice, your getting quite a few gigs now man, garts
  9. $1049 - https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NI-KNTRLS4 edit: cupe beat me to it
  10. There has been a few threads lately on this. If your only going to be doing mobile work, software controllers can be alot better for mobile functions due to: -Less gear to cart around -less to set up -lighter to carry -you have easy access to a large collection of music directly on the laptop, making it easy to search for requests and the like However if you want to play clubs you need to learn your way around some cdjs. (Unless they allow you to take your controller in there of course). Your choice of gear also depends on your mixing preference / style, and what you are used to. What equipment do you have experience on at the moment? Don't be afraid to go to a dj shop and have a demo of a range of equipment before buying anything.
  11. ^thats a pretty cool spot to have it set up
  12. ^^this. Should get more battles going on. live stream battles would be pretty epic. one shot to do it and everyone on chat listening live to the mixes. we should try this.
  13. yer whatever you have will be fine to get the basics down and see if you really like it, then can get something better down the track if you wish
  14. check out the DJ gear for beginners thread - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=59 and the how to DJ pt 1-3 thread - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6974 even just watch part 1 vids for now, gives you all the basic knowledge to start practicing.
  15. they go together pretty well. good choice for your commercial teen audience. Only thing i think that needs to be played with is the levels. The vocals sound a bit overpowering which makes the bassline and melody hide behind them a bit and can't hear it as well. That's just my opinion though lol. Only listened on laptop speakers though. overall though, its cool for a commercial mashup :thumbright:
  16. the speakers have limiter/clipping lights on the back of them. If the limiter light is on (or flashing at all) you need to turn the speakers down, as this means the speakers are trying to operate beyond their potential and are clipping the sound. So you want to have them turned down enough so they wont be hitting the limiter. Adjust all your levels before you start the gig (during sound check) so you have your volume on the back of the speakers set and dont touch them. And if you want to adjust the master gain (e.g. have music softer earlier then turn it up later) keep a mental note where the master gain can be turned up to without hitting limiter when you do sound check. If you really want to make sure about it, have a peek at the back of the speakers every so often to make sure the limiter light isn't coming on. Hope this helps.
  17. lol this thread is two years old. nice bump
  18. ^very nice
  19. Put them in your ear and they reduce the sound intensity your ears are exposed to. You can put headphones over top but can get uncomfortable as if they arent custom, as they will protrude a bit. Could also have them joined together with a cord around your neck and just pop them in when your not wearing your cans. I have the ety ones off the djwarehouse site. They work pretty good. Can barely see them once they are in. wore em to the club the other week to test em and they reduce the strain on your ears a fair bit.
  20. The iPod classics are the only iPod to get. They are a beast.
  21. cdj 350s or 400s are an excellent starting point, a fair few people on here use them i'm pretty sure. They are the same layout to the higher end models, with smaller jogs, smaller screens and lack some of the higher end features. However very sufficient to get some skills up on
