  1. Sol, here is one way to mix the two songs. i have just taken an excerpt on the mix and uploaded the transition with a bit of time on each side to make it quicker to upload, coz i gone over my internet cap. im still as much a beginner as you Sol only been DJing for approx 2 month, but here's one way you can mix them with it sounding ok. 2011-07-14_19h02m24 by user109336
  2. sol i just mixed those two songs together myself. they work, just mix the last 45 seconds of dirty talk in with the beginning of bounce and it works fine, just use phrasing. i might even upload it just for proof
  3. yer i live on the border of vic/nsw in an area full of smaller towns, so not alot going on, but trying to get name out there a bit. I could get parties to DJ at but all the kids are too tightarse to pay anything for a DJ. Already been screwed over by a so called 'friend' doing a gig lol.
  4. Can't say I've officially started as don't have real equipment yet, but been learning on a mixtrack pro for just over 2 Months now. Self taught at home on forums, YouTube etc. But trying to find some DJs in my area to try learn something off them as well. But not many people DJ up my way unfortunately, so just winging it ATM.
  5. it can be hard to single out what the exact cause was - could be a one off incident. If you remember exactly what you were doing, try replicate it at home. did you unplug the controller before you tried to quit itch? I wouldn't be too worried if it was a one off occurence. force quit is practically the equivalent of end task on windows. If you can't replicate it again i'd say it was a one off, but i would do the following: What i would do is make sure all your software is up to date, (i.e. you are on mac os x 10.6.8 if on snow leopard with all updates installed, and you are running the latest version of itch). And you should be right then Sources: I run a computer repair business
  6. yer is it 1100 for just the mixer or for both?
  7. get traktor. record directly in that. problem solved
  8. to sign up without a credit card what you do click buy on a free app when you aren't signed in to the app store, then click sign up. When you get to the payment page for the free app it will have an option for 'none' as the payment source, then you can sign up without one. This should work unless they have changed it in the last few months.
  9. Go to the how to DJ part 2 with Phil k (stickied in this section of the forum) and in one of his vids he shows one way you can utilize it. Can't remember exactly Which vid But watch them and you will see one way it can be used. Have a feeling it's one of the first 4 or 5 of his vids.
  10. im hanging out for the iphone 5 as well, my 3gs contract ran out couple of months ago. As for improvements over the 4 Jaz, ive been checking the rumours, its likely to be the step from 3g - 3gs. Similar case design (with fixing of that antenna issue), upgraded A5 processor, and possibly more RAM. However it is Apple, so you have no idea whats going to happen, all I know is they will make you conform to their ways.
  11. you can buy a brand new samsung 20" screen for $109 - http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/pro ... s_id=51798 or even a new 23" full HD LG monitor for $150: http://www.mwave.com.au/sku-27021053-LG ... ion_300cd_ therefore making a few year old benq 17" monitor not worth $50 imo
  12. yer it does make sense, learning to mix out earlier keeps it flowing better otherwise can get a bit boring for a mixtape i guess. its something to work on anyway. suppose good song choice comes into it as well then.
  13. i second logmein there is another way though, if the work computer is a windows pc, you can enable the remote desktop connection function built into windows, then download the remote desktop connection program for mac off the microsoft website and do it that way. possibly more advanced setup though, particularly if your work doesn't have a static ip address. not too hard to work around though
  14. thanks for both your comments guys. As you can probably tell, wasn't trying to do anything special just trying to beatmatch intros/outros to get some basic technique down, but i now know for next time where i can improve cheers
  15. gonna have to call you ellaskins after that closing statement
  16. i made a playlist before i started with the tracks, and used the browse dial and load button. So just rotated the browse dial down one and loaded the next track like so. and thanks, just fixed my post
  17. oops didn't embed it properly, someone wiser than myself tell me what to do to embed the waveform
  18. Hey there guys, After nearly two months of learning how to DJ, I'm uploading my first ever live (from my bedroom ) recorded mix. I know its a bit sketchy, however uploading it more for you guys to comment and help me improve. Recorded in traktor with the screen off the whole time so i couldn't cheat by looking at the bpm's / waveforms. Gotta try learn right the first time I'll quit rambling, Please listen, comment what you think and any tips to help me imrove Cheers, *Insert DJ name that i don't have yet here* http://soundcloud.com/mitch_fudd/2011-07-03-21h43m34 EDIT: Track names are: 1.Techno Fan (Afrojack Extended Club Remix) - The Wombats 2.Animal Rights (Feat. Wolfgang Gartner) - Deadmau5 3.Bounce (Extended mix) - Calvin Harris 4.Pressure (Alesso Remix) - edit: Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji 5.Cry (Just a Little)(Original Mix) - Bingo Players 6.Save The World (Mikael Wills & Justin Sane Remix) - Swedish House Mafia
  19. im not up with the soundcard prices, im estimating it would work out to a similar price though. two soundcards i've heard good things about (however never owned myself) are: Numark DJ I/O - $159 - https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NUM-DJIO NI Audio 2 - $159 - https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NI-TA2 so 269 + 159 = $428 . So this setup would be about $20 dearer than the mixtrack pro. Two things to consider though: mixtrack has following benefits: - built in soundcard has the advantage that you can keep the soundcard if you want to upgrade the mixtrack (although note most higher end controllers have built in soundcards anyway). Not sure how much of an advantage this is. - mixtrack comes with traktor instead of VDJ, much better program imo mixtrack pro has the benefit of built in soundcard so its one less thing you have to set up/pack up and plug into your computer. However comes with VDJ so if you want to use traktor you will have to purchase traktor, which will work out more expensive than the above option.
  20. mixtrack is $269 at storedj - https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NUM-MIXTRACK if you get the mixtrack, you will also need a soundcard that can route two different outputs (one to your headphones to cue, another to the master output that everyone hears). I can't recommend any specific one, have a look around and/or ask, im sure someone on here can recommend a few different ones. another option is to buy the mixtrack pro (what i did), which is identical to the mixtrack with a built in soundcard, which is $409 at storedj - https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NUM-MIXTRACKPRO
  21. hey mate i have a mixtrack pro (same thing as the mixtrack with built in sound card). its a fairly basic controller but excellent value for the price, I find it works quite well. Whether you should buy it i guess depends on your budget and whether the functions it has is sufficient for your use. it obviously doesn't even compare to the s4 but they are two different controllers for two different budgets.
  22. i have a 2007 macbook pro core 2 duo with 3gb ram + snow leopard. No issues here. Possibly try uninstalling (making sure you remove all the application data, preferences etc.) then reinstalling, and running a cleanup program such as onyx - http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11582/onyx try that and see how you go.
