  1. Cheers Was keeping an eye on the forums while I was away, not doing comps anymore?
  2. I sold my gear late last year, went travelling for 6 months (Jan to Jun). Got home and got a new job, bought some new gear to get back into things. Still got my roadcase and headphones from my previous setup. Will be getting some new monitors in a couple of months as well.
  3. It will fit the 10" cd players, there's spacers etc that came with the coffin to fit the smaller players. I had the 900 in there so if it's the same size or smaller it should fit. I put it on gumtree for $150, they are about $300 new
  4. It's all sold, except for the road coffin (which is up on gumtree)
  5. Hardly used and in perfect condition, includes all cables, box etc. The guys that made these have bought back the rights to the software etc and already released a new firmware for it and they plan to keep doing it. $250
  6. I've been running 8 for a couple of months (get early access through work) and I've found it more stable than 7 Microsoft is giving out the Media Center Pack for free if anyone wants it, you dont need a windows 8 key to get the feature pack http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... ture-packs
  7. At the end of the year I'll be moving overseas and I'm trying to limit what I take with me. I still have the original boxes for everything, everything was purchased back in Jan 2012. The CDJ's and DJM have spent their whole life in the roadcase (except for me taking these pictures). Over the last 6 months or so it's seen very little use as I've spent quite a few months overseas this year. Currently looking for $5000 for all of it. Everything is pickup from Perth at the moment, I'll consider splitting the CDJ's and Mixer from the rest if there is a buyer for all of it. 2x Pioneer CDJ 2000 1x Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus 1x Litecase road coffin to suit the above 1x Pioneer HDJ 2000 headphones 2x M-Audio CX-5 Studio monitors 1x Stands to suit the Studio Monitors 1x Ikea breakfast style table to sit everything on Pictures: http://members.iinet.net.au/~devvyn/DSCN1234.jpg http://members.iinet.net.au/~devvyn/DSCN1241.jpg http://members.iinet.net.au/~devvyn/DSCN1244.jpg http://members.iinet.net.au/~devvyn/DSCN1247.jpg
  8. It may not tick the boxes for you regarding the number of drives but the HP Microserver could be an option, I have two of these acting as HTPC\Servers running Windows 7 Media Center. I've put a RAID card in there to give me 4x2TB drives in RAID 5 for hard drive redundancy, some people have even got 9 drives in these things. You can find the base unit for around $250 online (www.staticice.com.au) http://n40l.wikia.com/wiki/HP_MicroServer_N40L_Wiki
  9. They all look good for price, but personally for me they all lack a full HD screen, anything less than 1920x1080 and I don't want anything to do with it now days
  10. Dj Factory? Always found them to be rude, overpriced and never cared about you or what you wanted to buy. Not to mention their overpriced DJ tutoring
  11. I was in the market for a new laptop as at the end of the year I'll be travelling + contract working around the globe so I wanted something bigger than a 13" MBA but portable. Just picked up an Asus N56VM (i7, 4GB, 750GB, Full HD screen, Nvidia GT630, Blu-ray) for $1200 including a extra 1 year asus warranty. Currently installing my own Windows 7 copy on there now
  12. You will need a license to use traktor on your laptop. Basically download and install the djm 900 tool from pioneer, plug the USB from the 900 into your laptop, use the tool to set the channels etc and use the traktor setup wizard to get it going. You'll still need 2x more USB ports to use the CDJ in HID mode as well.
  13. Still no advanced HID for CDj's, thinking of moving to serato now because they won't implement it
  14. Played at my cousin's 40th house party last night, as it was a mix of friends and family I got my parents to drive and got a bit smashed. He hired a portable dancefloor\lighting (http://ragtag.com.au) which gave it a good atmosphere. The guy that owns it stayed for the night and we had alot of fun. There wasn't many over 50, mostly 25-35 and at the start it was hard to tell what they wanted to hear. They would like some top 40 songs but not others and so we started playing old 90's and they liked that for the most part, I had to stop playing remixes and start playing the radio versions as well. As it got later and everyone got drunker I'd choose a song and then the other guy would, we were switching from stuff like Party Rock Anthem to Footloose, Levels to My Sharona and everyone loved it and kept dancing. Finished up around 1 when everyone was getting too smashed and people starting to leave etc.
  15. Have they added a jog wheel yet? That's the only thing stopping me from moving from touchosc
  16. Sounds good, I did my first gig (18th house party last weekend). Told the birthday girl $1-200 per party and that's mostly for me to hire some decent speakers. Don't really want to purchase $800 speakers if I'm just going to keep DJ'in as a hobby at home when I've got perfectly good monitors
  17. Ellaskins is wikid, watch his vids and you'll learn In one of his vid's he tries to beathmatch 7-8 CDJ\Turntables I wish I had that much gear to play around with
  18. Here's mine http://soundcloud.com/opticon454/adjf-march-2012-battle
  19. Currently previewing mine now to make sure I'm happy with it. I'm off to Thailand for 2 weeks from the 26th so unfortunately I probably wont be able to preview anyone else who has uploaded after then and vote for them
  20. I agree, USB is becoming cheaper and cheaper and will\has taken over CD as the portable format. Almost every new car radio player has USB on the front face or cable (even $100 ones). Why carry a 700MB CD when you can get a 16GB USB for $20 now and for most people have their entire music collection with them. I guess the next move is getting rid of USB for 99% of portable storage and then everything becomes cloud based. With 4G mobile networks starting to make it's appearance in Australia it probably will happen.
  21. Bit of a long post, but just my experience from my first gig last night (18th house party) which might help a few of the newbies on here. After the first hour or so of being there I had the birthday girl say to me that her friend's have asked how much I charge so I could do their 18th's. Should hopefully be a few more gigs coming my way now \:D/ I think all went very well last overall, I got there about 7.45 and was set up in 10 mins. I love my coffin case now, just roll it in and put it on a table then run cables for power and speakers As it was a last minute gig I just used my M-Audio CX5 studio monitors which worked quite well (small backyard with a patio over the whole thing so kept the sound in nicely) but man did they get a workout lol I started playing straight away as a people started rocking up shortly after, 10 mins after starting my left CDJ dropped it's USB connection to traktor (nfi why, never done it before) so I had to restart my macbook and turned all the gear off\on again. 2 mins later I was playing again. I put a notepad + pen on the table next to me for requests and 20mins later I had 10-20 tracks which was great as it gave me a good idea of what they wanted to hear (wasn't quite sure if they wanted Top 40 or if they liked old 80\90's classics etc). For the first hour there wasn't much dancing, few random’ s here and there but mostly just people talking to each other but they were still tapping their feet etc. I played almost everyone's requests during this time to try and get them in the mood. Once I dropped Knife Party - Internet Friends and then Flo Rida - Good Feeling everyone really started to get into it. I've mostly got club style remixes of T40 songs and they all loved it. Kept it going with T40 like Taio Cruz, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, Example etc (anything T40 from the last 5 years they liked, they were 17/18 so couldn't expect to go back too far) and for what seemed like a good hour or so 80% of them were dancing in front of me (50-60 people at the party). I started getting more requests but with people leaning over my gear with their drinks, which I quickly told them to hold it away from everything and so I started leaning over my gear (without my drink of course) or just stepping to the side to keep them away from it, Skrillex - Bangarang and Knife Party - Internet Friends were constantly requested and I think I played them 4-5 times each last night, no one cared and everyone went off with the same energy each time it was played. As people got more drunk I started to get the 1-2 people constantly bugging me for songs and then another 1-2 asking 'have you got this song, why not? youtube it' (had 1 guy ask multiple times for the same song?) which I just replied each time sorry but youtube is too slow for decent quality but I'll check itunes to see if I can download it, that seemed to keep them happy and I never checked itunes The guy who was actually supposed to DJ who pulled out the night before (from what I was told) came up to me and asked if him and his mate to have a go? I thought wtf? you cancel being the DJ and then ask to mix some tracks. I wanted a quick break anyway and let them spin a few tracks (def wont be doing that all the time though). He then had a quick whinge about hating taking requests etc. I can understand this when playing at pubs\clubs but at a 18th house party, your specifically there to entertain them, not yourself so play the damn requests. Around 11-11.30 when it seemed like everyone was drunk, people were starting to want to stand behind the decks with me, stumbling around a bit, few knocks to the table etc. I told the birthday girl\her mum that I'll be finishing after a few more songs as neither of us could afford to replace my gear. They were happy with that, finished around 11.45pm, packed up, got given a bottle of JD's for playing the party and went home I only had to turn the music down once and ask everyone politely to take 2 steps back because they were getting too close and everyone did with no fuss, as soon as they took 1 step I turned the music back up. Few personal notes for future gigs: Having the requests book is great for getting an idea of what people want for house parties (provided it's not just 1-2 people writing down 20 songs). Get\Hire some proper speakers and lighting. When I practise at home I try to keep the next song within the same BPM\key range as the current track. People at parties dont care about this, they just want to hear music they like and have asked for so it was a quick learning curve to mix in songs with different BPM and keys together as I'd never really thought about doing it. I had 5-6 bourbon's over the 4 hours which kept me nicely buzzed to dance a bit and sing with the crowd but sober enough not to get slopy on the decks The crowd would randomly throw me stares and unless my head was down getting the next track ready they would give me a weird look if I wasn't singing or boping my head to the music, so from this: make it look like I'm enjoying myself and they will probably enjoy themselves that little bit more (even if I'm playing Bangarang for the 5th time!). Having a small closed in area probably helped get everyone up and dancing, if it was a big open backyard people would be spread apart more etc so dont expect the same thing everytime.
  22. Just got a phone call from my sister, her bf's sister is having a 18th tomorrow night and the DJ has just pulled out. They've asked me to do it so figured why not, it will be my first real DJ gig (apart from random nights with friends coming back to my place). It's really just going to be top 40 stuff all night (said I'd play from 8 to midnight), not worried about being paid but they said they would get me a bottle of Jack Daniels for doing it anyway Currently on ARIA and itunes getting some more tunes as most of the stuff I practise with is club remixes etc. Should be interesting Also looking for Hoddi's and other threads on their playlist's for going similar stuff. I'd rather have way too much than not enough.
  23. The DJTECH code from Sol's post is still working for whoever is purchasing and wants to save a few bucks http://www.ausdjforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=9262&p=132571&hilit=DJTECH#p132571
