4GB to a few hundred mb? You're going to have quality loss no doubt. Depending on where 'a few hundred' goes up to in your requirements Can't you just put it on a DVD disc and give that to your m8s? afaik you can upload ~6 hours to soundcloud and it doesn't matter about filesize. Then they just play it from there?

I'm at a point where I can mix songs I don't know just by checking the waveform (I manually drop cause I mix from vinyl decks with DVS if I'm not using straight wax (no cue points, no sync, no instant play button etc). You just pick up on things the more you do it. I'd always be getting new music and just mixing. That's how you're gonna get better

I started as a turntablist, scratching and beat juggling on vinyl, so my path is fairly different (and probably not much help)

It's the Traktor X1 I bought off Hobberz It's in basically perfect condition, he hardly used it, I only used it a few times and it's sat in it's protective cover since. I think it's probably worth around $200ish?
