  1. mate read the back of a cd case and it will say its only for non-commercial use, erego the ppca license i have enquired with a number of online music stores and all have said that as long as a) you paid for the track, you don't re-produce (remix and save) or c) distribute the track, you're in the green.

    your kit?

what's wrong with making a post your mobile rig thread? I certainly have no problems with it. got some images in processing with a photographer atm, will get them up soon
  3. well, contrary to the above, both equipment insurance and public liability is available (and affordable) for mobile DJs. I get mine through Action entertainment insurance, pm me if you want the email of the lady that organises mine. Approx $500pa for $10,802 of gear equipment insurance - covers at home, in transit, and at the event, for stealings, damage, crashings, etc (and covers the hire until they find/pay you out for your gear) Approx $800pa for $5mil public liability If mobile DJ'ing is something you're serious about then being covered is probably a good idea; i know i'd be fucked if my house was robbed. Also, some venues will ask if you have public liability before they let you play there.
  4. i am so excited for you hey, getting this all after all this time would be so satisfying!
  5. oh yeah and we're expecting a full review of that behringer amp and your sound system when its up and running
  6. well hopefully it's soon, your cable is on it's way!
  7. will fill in when i get a chance to write it out step by step. but the apple website taught me, it's not very difficult, just the annoying thing is you have to have a wireless router with you.
  8. yer, i'm using it for school gigs, good cause its annoying trying to understand 10 year olds who dont know the real song title, etc.
  9. ontopic: set up your computer (if it has windows 7) to act as an access point with its wireless card, then set up itunes DJ, and enable song requesting, then make shitloads of posters saying that people with iphones can request songs using the remote app. Something I'm starting to do

    Speaker Bags

i appreciate the thought, but they're in america.
  11. You can get speaker stands for ~$80, but if your speakers dont have holes to mount them on then they're not gonna be much use! I'd put the subs on the floor and your tops on the table for now. My experience with subwoofer poles is that the top speakers are always swinging back and forth (i have a pair that I don't use) unless there is something I am doing wrong (i'm putting the poles straight in the top of the sub)?
  12. Alright have found a supplier in Perth, turns out the one that uses your computer's cpu as a procesor is around $100, or $250 for the one with its own microprocessor.
  13. i'd recommend the subs under the table hey. You will lose your hearing / get bad headaches if the subs are behind you!

customcovers quoted be about $550 inc postage for 5 covers, very happy but gotta save up!
  15. Nah you shouldn't have any worries, it's only a short distance. I would probably recommend making it 3 meters either side of the amp 'cause I can imagine getting pissed at it being not long enough; i'm sure others will agree...
  16. Yeah dennis you're right, alot of venues don't like it, especially the more upmarket wedding venues. I've only ever had one smoke alarm go off on me but that was years ago and I didn't buy the smoke liquid myself so I don't know what caused it. I only use it if i can get an almost pitch-black hall to use it in, such as at an 18th or 21st, in any floodlit room its more hassle than it's worth. andy just interested do you use any lighting software / usb-dmx adaptors? the arx one we were looking at is about $100 so i was thinking of getting it to use with an old laptop. reckon it's worth it?
  17. Alright you're looking at about $13 each for each of the speakon plugs (genuine neutrik) or $10 for generic, and $1 p/m for the cable (double insulated black). A standard prepaid post satchel that should fit it is about $13 off memory. Also good idea about the cooling fan cover FabDJ I think I'll do that myself.
  18. alright i'll find out how much the plugs are and let you know before i buy anything. I can make the cable 3 metres from the amp to each speaker?
  19. alternatively, plug one sub in to the speakon port, then buy this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Speaker-Adapter-Cable-Speakon-m-Banana-plugs-1m-/310222258357?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Pro_Audio&hash=item483ab000b5 and plug the banana plugs in to the binding posts of the same channel and then you've got two speakon sockets for one channel.
  20. I could make you a speakon y-adaptor if necessary. You will be able to run two subs off one channel with those configurations fine. The "limiter" in an amplifier is a clip limiter, which compresses the signal in the event of the input signal being too large for the amp to handle (i.e. it is primarily made to protect the amp). It will protect the speakers by preventing the amp from discharging raw voltage on to it if it's power capacity is overwhelmed, but the clip limiter on an amp is there to prevent the amp from being damaged. The 'bridge' adaptor is for combining the amp from 2 chans in to 1 to double the output at double the ohm rating, i.e. if you were using the amp to drive one massive sub, but you're better off running the channels individually if you are running two speakers off it as you are less likely to blow both channels in the event of overpowering. let me know if you want that cable made up and i'll hit altronics, i drive past there a couple times a week.
  21. I carry 5s and one twenty and one thirty with me, cable from altronics was so cheap I just went for gold haha. Normally only use the short ones but you never know!
  22. If you are sensible with the volume control and know your speakers well enough; you should be able to get away without using limiters. Definayely use speakon jacks over quarter inch trs where possible, you can make them yourself using jacks off eBay and cable from altronics or someone on here cAn make them for you
  23. As mentioned previously, i wouldn't run any amp on 2 ohms for an extended period of time, you'll damage it hey. but yeah just ask here if you have any other questions
  24. well honestly, the jaycar speakers won't handle all the power that the epx3000 will put out, but you'll need the extra power for the subs. those jaycar speakers do have built-in protectors that cut them off if they are overpowered, but you'll be able to make sure they arent by not turning the amp up too much. because they have a low power handling, they should be highly sensitive so will be louder without needing to turn up the amp's gain too much.
  25. in that situation, the channel with more stress will get hotter, but these amps are designed to be driven in a mono situation (as per the behringer website) with mismatched power usage so i don't think you would expect too much of an issue. The only other thing you might want to consider is an active crossover that allows you to manually adjust the crossover point between the subs and the speakers.
