  3. "Diamond Cutters, Brothers Duo taking over the Electronic music Scene, From Gladstone Queensland this duo is renown for their ability to take the roof off any venue they can get there filthy hands on! Somewhere along the lines of them drinking all your Vodka, tearing the roof of your club and droppin' beats that will leave you needing a shower, they manage to leave your feet numb from dancing and your ears ringing for days! Recently Taking there profession to the second extreme by moving to Brisbane Gets these guys closer the action! Diamond cutters electro/house background is a platform in which they have began to build a strong arsenal of vicious bombs! Look out Brisbane, because they are coming!!" - Diamond Cutters For our readers who have been living under a rock these past couple of months, who are Diamond Cutters? DAN: Well we started officially a year ago, making up DC is myself, Daniel Sparkman and Shaun Sparkman, my younger brother. From a young age we enjoyed playing music for our friends and it just made sense to combine our skills! SHAUN: Diamond Cutters…We started about a year ago officially, ever since then its just been crazy being able to live this life with my brother by myside. Wouldn't have it any other way! How did Diamond Cutters start off/what inspired its creation and how did you come up with the name? DAN: Well it was a long road to get to the point where we are now, i started off djing at a strip club and it rolled on from there, the reason we started a duo i think is simple. We play well together. The name was a hard one, we thought about it for weeks then all of a sudden Shaun walks into my room and just says it "Diamond Cutters" from then i knew that was perfect. Turns out his inspiration was our parents street name "Diamond Cutter Close" SHAUN: We grew up on the Street "Diamond Cutter Close" so i thought the name was suitable. and its boss "haha" What style/genre do you play? DAN: Me personally i started with Electro house then moved to Prog House but i know Shaun likes to get a little more filthy then that! SHAUN: Heavy electro, Dubstep, Heavy house. anything that has a fat baseline! Coming from a regional town, do you think it was harder to get exposure compared to a metro/capital city area? DAN: Personally i think it helped a lot. The bar was set rather high where we came from, most likely because of the amount of DJs that live in Gladstone but in regard to exposure there's only so much you can get from playing in Gladstone. SHAUN: I honestly don't think its where you come from, i think it all boils down to how much effort you're willing put in. and how many sacrifices your willing to make to progress. You are sponsored by The Orphanage Clothing Company, what exactly does that entail? DAN: Well it's quite simple really, TO give us items from each product launch and we rep them at the partys comps and set we perform at. Aswell as that we sell them up the east coast if we ever have to leave Brisbane. SHAUN: The Orphanage has been an AMAZING supporter for us, as they alone have an amazing product, and allowing us to throw it on just opens up more doors of exposure. Diamond Cutters were finalists in the Your Shot competition to win a set at stereosonic, what are your thoughts on events like this, do you think these competitions are good for getting your name out there? DAN: Ill start with saying it was an amazing experience! I really enjoyed it, the exposure was great but ultimately the best part was the free training. 6 weeks worth with Spin House Academy in Brisbane. Aside from the training the exposure was awesome swell, the event was sponsored by RedBull, Alize, Smirnoff, Pioneer, Sony, InTheMix and Spinhouse so the amount of representatives and club managers there really did help us long term. SHAUN: The comp was amazing, we got to meet some amazing DJ's and some great people. this allowed us to branch out and meet some new people in this big ole' city of Brisvages! As a duo act, what do you bring to the table over a solo dj? DAN: More is better in my opinion! Its sort of like comparing using one hand to two. We both know where we're going with our set and because of it we constantly have on person on effects / mic / levels and the other on loops / beatmatching. It was hard at first to get a harmonious rhythm going but we've got it down pat now! SHAUN: we all know everyone would rather 2 hands? haha its great, you never loose the sense of motivation! What's the craziest thing that has happened while touring/gigging? DAN: I'd have to say partying with the Nadisko boys is well up there, flown in from Sydney to play Electric Playground then afterwards partying at Family NIghtclub. Those boys put the filth in filthy electro! SHAUN: probably halfway through a set we played in brisbane, a chick ate it hard on the dancefloor smacking her head on the corner of the DJ booth. 2 Ambos later and a our set Cut 45 Mins short haha! For the bedroom bangers at home who are wanting to follow in your footsteps and chase the dream, what kind of advice/info can you share with us? DAN: One big tip i can offer is to be confident in yourself, know your ability and learn to take criticism. If you are good tell people, be confident in your ability and it will emulate through your set. In saying that as well never be cocky and arrogant, doors will shut very quickly if you talk the talk but can't walk the walk! SHAUN: Be humble in everything you do. Don't get a big head, because you WILL fall over and Enjoy it, Every second in the industry is a blessing. Absorb all you can and go as hard as you can!! What can we look forward to over the xmas/new years break from Diamond Cutters, any upcoming gigs you want to let us know about? DAN: Big things are coming DCs way! We have Oxford Street Party in Rockhampton then fly to Brisbane that night to headline Family on the 30th of Dec. Also on the 1st of Jan we are supporting Bag Raiders at the Boundary in Brisbane, sure to be an awesome way to start 2012! SHAUN: Keep Posted on our "Diamond Cutters" Facebook page to know whats coming up for us! all the support it amazing guys! if you see us out and about don't be shy, come and have a few shots with us! Shameless plug time!! give us some shoutouts and fanpage/soundlcoud action so we can keep up with all your future work DAN: Well i can confidently say we wouldn't be as far as we are today without our parents on going support, also our friends, Trent Broad, Matt Daniel, Shane Allchorn, Kris 'Kayli' Lisman and Matty 'Hertz' Aitken!! You can add the Diamond Cutters on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/diamondcuttersAUS Aswell as soundcloud! http://www.soundcloud.com/dsheavy <--- Check it to get free copies of our bootlegs SHAUN: Yeah huge props to the boys, Trent, Matty, Shane, Matty Aitken, Kris Lisman, The Orphanage Clothing company, Matt Lee, Brandon King and all the crew! much love guys! I would like to personally say a big thank you for the opportunity to score an interview with you guys, I couldn't be more happier or proud of what you have achieved and no one is more deserving than the two of you, best of luck and i cant wait for a jam packed 2012 for Diamond Cutters!

  12. fuck it im nominating everyone here, fuck my eyes
  13. not hard to spend more than 5 seconds reading the page...
  14. have you whales read the rules ffs How it works - There must be no pauses longer than ten seconds between tunes; music must be continuous. - No individual disc, and no piece of music, may be repeated in performance within four hours. A list of all the tunes played must be maintained and submitted as evidence. - The event should take place on stage in a club or similar venue, open to members of the public, and not in a recording studio. - For each hour of the performance, 5 minutes rest time is earned and this time can accumulate. so no, he wouldnt fail if he accidently bumped the cue button as long as it resumed in under 10 seconds whales cant read i swear
  15. yeah, if i was down that way id take a week off and party with him lol, hope he does it
  16. - For each hour of the performance, 5 minutes rest time is earned and this time can accumulate. that makes this very doable, being able to save it up lets you shit piss and sleep over the 7 days
  17. fuck that i can barely function after 2 days no sleep
  18. try some dub/brostep, lot of bogan meat heads love pushinh/chest bumping each other when they're wasted towards the end of the night, and dubstep in the final hour is usually guarenteed win anyway
