So after having 2 drink spillages ive finally had enough adn decided to either make something to protect my gear OR get my google on and find some form of protection i ended up stumbling across this nifty looking product just wondering if any of you have heard of it and can give an opinion on it if not, this may be worth investing in https://www.djcondom.com/ ive sent them an email asking about the usability of the equipment and ill post back here when i get a reply
-
aslong as i leave it turned off and let the water evaporate it should all work fine.. im just worried about the left over stuff from the water (flourite and jazz) might stay behind and rust the equipment
-
well... it was actually a mate who spilled the drink just found out it was only water though, so aslong as i can dry it out good an proper, i might actually be ok i remember reading that if its something like coke of beer even if it dries out the residue can still fuck it up down the track, this shouldnt happen with water though should it? maybe we should turn this thread into 'drink spilling prevention thread and people can post ways to stop people from stuff getting spilt
-
this thread is for all u people who have done a gig and have had ur shit get broken cause someone who has spilt shit on it cupe feel free to delete/move this thread but for fucks sake, cant people not spill shit on ur equipment, is it so hard to hold ur dirnks in the opposite direction of ur equipment. ive done 3 parties, 2 of them ive had my shit fucked up on... WORK THAT OUT!!! /rant..................................... for now

ohhhh yea i get ya. so technically the effect is still applied to the whole track, but im just turning it off on everything except for the part that i want the effect to be applied to..... why didnt i think of that!!! cheers chev

Hey guys, im an absolute beginner with ableton, so please bare with me (the terminology will probably be all wrong). if my terminology is wrong, please correct me basically, im just wondering if its possible to apply an effect to one segment of a track basically i have an echo applied to all of the samples (i think thats the right word) but i wanna apply a second effect to the circled sample but not the rest of the samples on that horizontal line, i tihnk thats called the track? cheers guys

thanks for the tips guys, i ended up scratching katy perry all together and have started again from scratch i dont tihnk that particular katy perry song went well with edm, too many long sustained notes

just had a quick flick through, what i did notice is that track A is playing in the right speaker and then when u mix track b will play in the left speaker... the next song will be in the right and the next song will be in the left and so on i dont know if its just me who is havin that problem? how are u mixing the tracks? as for some tips, try some longer transitions more like the one at 15:16 ill have a proper listen when its not 3am

Cap5 flashed Smokin Jo on wed also, in relation to cards.... we should get them and just leave some on a bar or on the ground and people will see them -
So i was browsing the interwebs trying to find some other acapella sites and stumbled across this http://diyacapellas.com/contact.html they seem to have a good selection of acapellas, also seems pretty exclusive from what i read assuming its not a scam, it could be beneficial to some of u bigger producers

SMOKIN JOE WORLD RECORD DJ ATTEMPT LIVE STREAM
mattus123 replied to JonnyB's topic in DJ Headquarters
question for the rules it says he is allowed 5min break for every hour of mixing lets say he accumulates 50mins of rest time.. is the music allowed to stop within those 50 minutes? cause if the music stops thats violating the 10 second stop rule... but if he puts on a pre mixed cd to play over the 50mins, thats violating the rules aswell -

thats epic Dflux, good stuff! my turn 7:15 get to the chicks house (its a fucking monster), i set up down in the fancy-ass boat shed (yes, she has a boat shed) awesome water views, perfect size to hold bout 80 people give or take. Finish setting up at about 7:45 go back upstairs and mingle abit. smash down a couple of jello shots and some bacardi slurpies. 8:15 she takes the party down stairs and everyone is partying down in the boat shed. I start with mixing some prog house. By about 9:00 people are asking for a bit more mainstream, by this stage the party was filling up so i figure why not. Drop some more mainstream crap, but save the good shit for later in the night. by this stage the room was full of people dancing. I also realise that i forgot a torch/lamp so im using my phone to search through the CD wallet which is a massive pain in the ass (lesson learned). Birthday girl requests a song.... the ONE song i didnt have is the one she requested.. it was 'hotel something somethin' by pitbull i ithnk, massive dick move on my behalf. I try and make amends by playing her other hip hop stuff she wanted. Very happy with the way i mixed that, mixed about 5 hip hop tracks smoothly, bitches loved it, everyone was singing. 930 she does speeches and cake etc and i kick off with some avicii - enough is enough, which brought everyone to the dance floor. From here on i was careful with track selection trying to keep as many people on the floor as possible. People would come and go from here on, but i managed to have atleast 2 people on the Dfloor at any one time. About 1030 there was a fight of some sort which drianed the Dfloor completely, but i chucked on cinema and brought everyone back in. At about 1130 the Dfloor got surprisingly quiet, and i had played most of the popular things, so i thought 'people are tired, ill just mix well and enjoy myself and keep the music going' this went on for bout 20 mins. By about midnight i somehow ressurected the Dfloor and it was fuller than what it was at the start of the night. People were requesting songs i had already played, but i thought there had been a long enough time between playing them that no one would notice. Definitely a good call, the repated songs went off and the dancefloor was packed right up until i was told to turn the music off, around 1am. packed up the car by about 2, and then slept in the car that night (didnt wanan risk driving home drunk) Lessons to be learned for next time: still wanan get better at reading the crowds Big ups to the ADJF crew aswell: i dropped Street's Blow mashup (went down SOOO well), Hobberz S&M mashup and slop rock gotye remix(everyone loved it) and Spitfire's party rock remix (went absolutely off, chicks screaming, everyone shuffling etc) By the end of the night from what i gathered everyone was happy with the job i was doing, didnt hear from the birthday girl (i hope she was satisfied). but all in all a good night Looking forward to the next gig (possibly a NYE party )

^this combined with people not actually not knowing what quality is aslong as the DJ plays the rights songs, 90% of the people will be happy
