Did file-sharing cause recording industry collapse?
chrismak replied to Cupe's topic in DJ Headquarters
Making it inconvenient to purchase tracks is shooting yourself in the foot . Record labels who apply territory restrictions have no right to whinge when people illegally obtain these tracks. I've read that you can get around these restrictions by using proxy servers physically located overseas to trick the online music stores into thinking you're from that country. No territory restricted track has ever been good enough for me to go through the trouble of using a proxy though. -
CD and Line are essentially the same. Pioneer just decided to label it that way. With the switch set to CD or Line, you can plug in any cdj or other line level signal devices such as drum machines. There's nothing stopping you from using channel 2 and 3 for your 2 cdj's. The only time you want to switch to phono is when you are using turntables. Turntables give out a low audio signal and require a phono pre amp to boost the signal strength. You can plug in turntables into any channel, as long as the switch is set to phono. Whatever you do, do not set phono for line level devices. You may do some damage.

I like the idea. It may provide a greater challenge to those who have a collection containing a wider range of music genres. I personally find mixing between different genres is much more difficult than sticking with the same or similar genre(s). But you would definitely get some interesting mixes.

This is only useful for researchers and engineers who are working on algorithms for Music Information Retrieval. The impact it has on us? You may see even smarter delivery of online music, which remembers what you are listening to and suggests other music you might like.

They'll sell out quickly with that price! I never understood why they couldn't offer a 4 band eq, since the 4D is essentially a xone-92 with a xone-2D and 1D attached to either side. Maybe they wanted to keep the 92 as one-of-a-kind

Simple and professional. I like it.

Nice overview that every beginner should read. The equipment recommendations are biased but that's always expected.

These are chunky wav files. The total size of them zipped is 360MB

I just received an email from Native Instruments promoting this new sample shop called Sounds/To/Sample. They are offering some free sample packs until January 15 next year. I know a few of us have bought directory from Native Instruments and may have received the same email. For the rest of you I thought I'd share the link. http://www.soundstosample.com/NI/xmas?utm_source=s2s_affiliates_NI&utm_medium=s2s_NI_traktor_xmas&utm_term=s2s_NI_xmas&utm_content=s2s_NI&utm_campaign=s2s_affiliates If you register on the website you also get another two sample packs.

My new business = low prices for aus dj's!!!

If your idea of ASAP is more than 4 weeks then you would fit in perfectly working for Native Instruments. -
ebay Geelong but ships nationally - 2 x CDJ1000

FYI for those interested, they've taken pictures of one deck and used the same ones in the second listing. -
doesn't make sense . we all ordered around the same time right? CBG and myself got ours and you guys are still waiting. wtf is going on?

they used to say this: "just for clarity actual djing does not involve a cd player... get some 1200's and a 2 channel mixer and use vinyl" Remember the OP wants to DJ for fun and friends and said nothing about club gigs. The Traktor S4 with an existing laptop is nothing to sneeze at.

ebay Bris - 2 x Tech 1200 MkII, Numark Mixer + some vinyl
chrismak replied to eggssell's topic in Buy & Sell - Gear
nice find what you see looks fine but i'd be inclined to ask for more pics. could be trying to hide something nasty on the other half of the left turntable. -
I've only had enough time to test my decks and X1 controller. Had a bit of trouble with the X1 not responding but it turns out my Traktor dock shortcut was pointing to the previous version of Traktor before I updated it. Opened the new Traktor version and its all working now Started transferring my tunes to the macbook pro but its taking ages via wireless.

the trouble is that beatport is saturated with average tracks made from average producers/DJ's who want to make a name for themselves. You have to do a fair bit of searching to find anything decent. i usually save the artists and labels of the decent tracks i find so i get alerted when new ones get released.

Just picked mine up from the post office . Aus Post tried to deliver yesterday and left a pickup slip since nobody was home.

TSP is an acronym for Traktor Scratch Pro. The X1 is the shortned name for Traktor Kontrol X1, a midi controller much like the Allen & Heath Xone-1D.

At last =D> . Hopefully should be here this week for the rest of us. Got my macbook pro and crane stand all setup and ready.

eBay NSW - a couple of CDJ 1000MK3 ships nationally
chrismak replied to eggssell's topic in Buy & Sell - Gear
From a business perspective it makes sense. Buyer pays premium to get full setup, otherwise risks getting only half. Smart but dirty. -

Why do some people insist on listing decks separately? If you win one, theres no guarantee you'll win the other. Its exactly the same as listing car rims separately
