SolDios Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 do you have a mic?Yup, 2 channel wireless mic system.I always just gave it to the best man or who ever they arranged, then told them to give me the thumbs up to enable it on my mixer, and turn it off when there done. Quote

Mitch Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 i think you should wax lyrical... like that flight attendant that someone posted recently...If you did that people would think your the most baws DJ/MC ever Quote
SolDios Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 I ment like MC at weddings, so like present the best man/woman for speeches, announce the first dance, blablabla Quote
Lurk6r Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 For weddings basically you just need to make sure everybody knows whats happening and keep shit flowing. But yeh, really the only advice I can give is to be confident, pretend there is no microphone and your talking to the people at the back. Kinda like this dude, Do you have any specific questions? FabDJ Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Well the first thing you should do is write down the name of the bride and groom and make up a list of the bridal party and vip's.Saw one MC totally fuck up cause he didnt know anyone's names. played shit music too.Even the missus said I had better music than that and thats fucking amazing. SourceRaver Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Hardest thing I found was getting peoples attention. Bump the mic level initially and then lower it whilst speaking. Be assertive and kinda give the vibe that what your about to say is really important. Once you have their attention its easy..."ladies and gentlemen can I PLEASE have your attention"Keep it simple and short. Just write down what you want to say before the night and keep it on hand during the gig. If you get nervous have a quick peek. In most cases you can get away with a simple sentence or two:"Ladies and gentleman, i would like to introduce the bride and the groom"Dont be afraid to race outside and let the smokers know whats about to happen next...and them give them time to drag their sorry asses inside before making the announcement. As an MC, your most important duty is as a time keeper. Things can get really out of hand if you dont make sure they happen on time. Once again, you need to be assertive and may need to give folks a few gentle reminders about what they need to do next. If you dont, people get bored and the fun dancing stuff gets pushed back untill its half as long as you expected. You need to discuss the timing with the bride/groom at the pre wedding interview and agree on an order of service. Its only a guide cause speeches always go on way too long. Quote
