  1. As for the track, sounds cool some bits sound a bit distorted. if intentional, cool @tafoz is on teh money with his feedback. keep it up
  2. You can do this super simple in ableton! I'm sure it would be fairly similar in other DAWs too: Drop an audio effect rack onto the track. Drag 3 x EQ three into the audio effect rack. Rename them low / mid / high. Then on each one, kill the respective EQs (for low, kill mid and high, etc.). Then you can add fx down the chain that only apply to the low/mid/high, as well as adjusting the volume, panning, etc... once you've done this once, save it as a template to make it super quick as you'll end up using it all the time
  3. yeah but i'm thinking if i'm going to invest now, i'll get something with rack space underneath. Like this

    Hey yo!

    I know
  8. 2.6.1 update super unstable. Controller freezes up constantly, and some tracks with no midi on them get a sound 'stuck' playing when you load a new instrument on. Muting the track doesn't stop the sound. Only workaround is to mute the whole group, or quit app and reopen. I'll be downgrading tomorrow morning..
  9. @Matt Ingle ? Also, moved to trance section
  10. Anyone know good places to buy computer/production desk in/around Melbourne? Things I'm after: -spot for laptop -raised platform for display monitor + studio monitors -keyboard drawer -good build quality -not too wide. Room is pretty small. I don't have any outboard rack gear at the moment, wouldn't be a bad thing if it had rack mounts in it. Also after keyboard drawer.
  11. Trance not really my thing.. But doing the 2 different mixes of the track is a cool idea. My mate recently released an EP doing exactly that, and was pretty well received.
  12. Track is pretty cool man. I'd play with some fx and panning, mainly on the drums in the breakdown to fill the sound out a bit more IMO. Keep at it

    Hey yo!

You should look at changing your avatar.. It looks like the spinning records logo, which makes me feel ill. I hope you have better taste than that. P.s. welcome

Loving hotmood DJ mixes at the moment.
  16. Left this thread, cleaned up the others
  17. Love moby, just gave this a listen
  18. Anyone looked at it yet? https://www.bitwig.com/en/bitwig-studio/bitwig-studio-2.html This would have to easily be the best DAW on linux. I wonder how long until we see more VST plugins compiled for linux as well? Update: found a list http://linux-sound.org/linux-vst-plugins.html
  19. Ableton is good (obviously, I use it). But it requires massive prep to use as a DJ mixer, which makes it limiting in a live setting. I'd suggest looking at rewire one into the other. then you can use the ease of mixing tracks in traktor, with the power of the sampling, fx chains etc. in ableton.
  20. -Do an A-B in your headphones with all the EQ's in the same spots (generally 12 o clock) and tweak a bit if necessary. As spitfire said, shouldn't need to tweak much. -If you're using legit, quality mp3 or wav files there won't be huge* variance in track levels. If you're getting tracks from dodgy sources the levels can be all over the shop -Use EQs when you're mixing. If you have both tracks fader up and all the EQs up on both tracks, it will sound louder while they're playing together, then you'll get a volume drop when you bring one of the tracks out. There should be some good EQ vids in the sticky threads. *from a DJ perspective. Up for debate from a production/engineering perspective

  23. That's where you're wrong, my friend! 1) cloud 9 isn't techno 2) There are stacks of places that play house and techno. Circus, Pawn & Co, Less Than Zero, Lucky Coq, onesixone, Night Cat, Brunswick Hotel (on occasion), Gasometer, Brown Alley, glamorama, new guernica, bird watching, somewhere bar (some nights), campari, 29th apartment, bimbos, veludo, prince, my aeon. That's just a start
