  1. Always good to know I'm not the only one, cheers mitch lol @Gandy and Cupe
  2. I had noticed the "from" source which is why I was unsure. If there is something to be done pioneer will drop me a line again, then I'll go to their own url to see what the crack is. So cheers both... I'll follow my favourite policy: if in doubt: do nowt.
  3. I got this a few days ago but only just opened it. I think it says that pioneer will send me an email soon which will ask me to do something. I cant see why they have warned me of this so in case I'm missing something (or this is some kind of phispam) please let me know if any other rekordbox users know what's going on? p.s, I altered the "to" field, no offense but you dont all need my email. from PioneerDJ news@pioneerdj.com via bma.mpse.jp to ******** derp ******** date Tue, Nov 1, 2011 at 8:51 AM subject [Pioneer DJ] rekordbox Customer Registration Service Renewal Guide mailed-by bma.mpse.jp hide details Nov 1 (7 days ago) This mail is sent to customers who downloaded rekordbox free of charge or who registered with rekordbox. ----------------------------------------------------------- Customer Registration Service Renewal Guide ----------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for using Pioneer products. 4. aye mate. One thought: whenever I go to a service centre I chat with the guys and see if they can spot anything else requiring a bit of TLC while they've got the hood up. The main expense with servicing is normally opening the unit up so get them to look around while they're in there. Might save you a second trip.
  5. The 2000 has midi capability doesnt it? Are you using it with software or as a stand alone player? If you are linking to software I would check you get the same problem while just playing CDs. This way you eliminate any midi-mapping conflicts or software issues. If it does appear to be a hardware fault then I've not heard of that one specifically but know of a few lads who have had issues with the jog adjust. Sorry to say all of them required service centre
  6. lol @pioneer, They stole the DJ market from technics by developing the CDJ (garts). This also opened the floodgates of copycat units. Now the controller market is the biggy (sales wise i believe) and they are shitting their pants. They brought out some overpriced "flagship" units that were quickly eclipsed by numark, denon, and even NI themselves. Now they are trying to capture all the niches in the market but they been caught on the back foot big time. I can just picture their sales team meeting the developers to play pass the buck
  7. Eggs: like wazza said: dont use keylock/mastertempo on a deck playing timecode. Use the DVS software keylock instead. These days I always have it on. It not only maintains key/pitch as you alter tempo (so avoiding any nonsense "chipmunk" effect) but it also covers the warp sound you get if you need to do an extreme nudge. Dinosaurs claim it is one of the elements of digital DJing which is cheating because you no longer have to be as careful about beatmatching. The ability to do massive nudges without anyone noticing really simplifies beatmatching. I've never tried mixed in key though. I still follow my own judgement as to what sounds good or not in that respect, and no doubt I often get it wrong
  8. What Spit said. But if the visual aid helps your student I also think the arrow between Digital/Traditional and from both of those to Hybrid need to flow both ways. After learning the basics many people like to experiment with everything to find their own style, same as shoes. Good skills Source
  9. I've only done the garter bit once and played Lady marmalade original by patti labelle, I think christina aguilerieinifhlskdfhjksd's may have done a more modern version. I've never done a wedding where the first dance isnt specified. Some of the less off the wall choices (in no particular order) have included: listening man - the bees love gets sweeter - finlay quaye cigarettes and coffee - otis redding at last - etta james my baby just cares for me - nina simone You got the love - Candi staton's classic and the florence thing. The light - common I like big butts - sir mixalot (cheesy fecks copied the viral video too) Let there be love - nat king cole
  10. lol, think i just liked loads of pages from my personal FB instead of my DJ page. One day I may learn how to internets. BUT NOT THIS DAY!
  11. ^snare hits are pretty distinct bro. Hip Hop mixes often include a drop on the snare. It gives that snappy clack sound instead of the predictable thud of a kick drum on the one. p.s. "djizm" lol
  12. imadje

  13. dunno y link no work... works 4 sum, not 4 others... cheers all either way x when i get a min i'll try find that thread where everyone posted their fb pages so i can return the fava
  14. bit late to this party but I'm with chris and source here. Eggs: I know you are already rocking the beat and you know how to count so I would come at this from another angle altogether... get into scratching it. Headphones off, fader open, hear everything, feel the groove, feel the music, stop counting coz you already know where the groove is, rock the beat, scratch the beat and let go when it feels right. Once you get it coming easy you can go back to using 'phones. Lots of headz always figure scratching was invented by people just trying to drop the first beat in time anyway.
  15. they are booking you because of what they have seen. Give them what they want and dont even worry about what is cheating or not... it's a great break you're getting, make the most of it. tunes wise: do you know masters at work? They are old skool house and do loads of remix work. I've done sets that varied massively over the course of the night but 75% was all M.A.W. Also Nu-yorican soul for some classics. And if you wanna go deeper/more disco-ey try "moodymanc" and "miguel campbell" for tip top re-edits.
  16. ok... so I have set up a facebook page for my DJ alias. apparantley if 25 people click on the "like" button the world will spin at my behest, or sumthin. Please give me the stats I crave for. Link in sig. also here's my latest mix, it's a kind of funky/breax/soul ting I been playing around with at my new residency. http://www.mixcloud.com/rice-pudding/djim-bluefoot-mix-for-rory-hoys-funktion-junktion pls feel free to remind me how to make my sig/FB page/internet presence look fly too

  19. tone loc - wild thing lol
  20. It's possible that you are actually putting too much volume out of the mixer and that serato has an internal limiter which is taking the edge off. I use itch and it does this. You can check your serato settings, experiment with things like autogain and headroom but if still not sure I guess Wazza or Lloydc will be along soon to share some knowledge...
  21. I'm from U.K. and was a club rat way back in 1990... was at Uni studying something irrelevant... walked into local bar that was empty on mid-week eves... asked if I could play for my mates... Barman figured mates brought in = drinks sold, I figured playing = practise. all i had to do was make sure I brought enough mates. I played about 5 hours a night on average. After a few weeks people would turn up who were mates of mates, then out and out punters and strangers... and thats when i started getting paid for filling the bar. Built rep from there, promoted own events, done a lot of the dirty work too (weddings, biffs etc), now have kids, mortgage etc etc. still never done a normal job, never had a major income, always had a great time
  22. ^this, I prob dont speak for anyone else but i often find the adjf locker room reeks of too much testosterone. Where the sisters at?
  23. ^it might throw the audience if there are beats playing but if you can find a short vocal break or other change where the drums drop out you might get away with it. if you have two tunes matched say 128 and 144 but the 144 is at 128 and you want to speed it up you can by speeding up both. It's tricky keeping them matched but if you can do it just right you are at 144 for the drop after following a smooth increase of tempo over the course of the beatmatch. Guys who Sync do this pretty ez but it is poss manually too.
  24. Having spoken to an immigration officer I have verified a few things and I can tell it's not worth beating around the bush on this one. To get me over there the DJ school (or any employer) would have to be set up in business already. They would also have to be able to prove that they had advertised a post and that they could not find anyone in Australia who was skilled enough or willing to take on the role. Then they could apply to sponsor me for what is called a 457 visa. Part of this application would also involve proving that during the course of my work in Australia I would need to be trained in some fashion at an accountable cost to the business. I know this is possible and that there are always ways round this sort of bureacracy if there is a will. But I'm a "cards on the table" kinda guy so thought i'd share the info. If anyone is still interested be assured I would do as much as physically possible from here to help get things done and I would more than pull my weight to make up for lost time when I arrived. Please remember my wife will also be earning, I will DJ weekends and we will have an income from renting our house in the U.K. so I wouldn't actually need a big wage from the business. Until such time as it starts to really roll anyway PMs if you still bovvered?
