  1. If i used a mastermix or premade mix most of my crowds would then doubt if i'd mixed at all at any point in the night. This thread is for long songs. Propz to shalamar.
  2. Hey robsta. I'd considering using something to raise your lappy a few inches above that amps vents or you may suffer over heating. Nice rig.
  3. Lol wazza, yer never too old to rock mate
  4. Exactly, eg norman cooke as his many edm incarnations chose a dif name so he could be sure he wasnt just cashing in on the fatboy slim brand. But the beastie boys release all theirraw punk stuff on same name. Then of course their are bands who evolve their sound over time but keep one name like the beatles.
  5. Yes, yes they do.
  6. nice one gremmis.
  7. Certainly is boss.
  8. you took my forum virginity, re-introduced me to Aus Culture, and learnt me 2 interweb's, * i'll remember you all forever. tell me it's the same for you, please, i need to hear it. :MASSIVE TEEF WHALE DOG WHALES:
  9. cheers hobz. good eyes chev. I started on realistic, then gemini, then vestax (PMC05, PMC 07 etc) then i worked in a gear shop so tried pretty much all units from '98-2006 but once I bought the 909 that was the end of my mixer search
  10. My "adjustments" are nearly complete. Apologies for the wobbly and massive shots. I am not a photographer. stage 1: NS6 and Macbook Mobile DJ: stage 2: Macbook and controller keyboard with extra screen plus yamaha mini mixing desk (on the bookcase on the right) in case I want to add any external instruments other audio for production/editing. Those with real sharp eyes may notice the stylophone (by yer very own rolf harris) on top of the speaker. Currently am just rocking hifi speakers which I use to chk all prod during mastering but I am collecting my reference monitors from the guy I lent them to soon for real prod: stage 3: FAB, lift up the lid and... ahh, the girls. Lucy (the left deck) and Rachel (the right deck). These have been mine for 14 years now but spent the last 6 years pretty much in storage. Note the macbook still available for timecode, NI8 cant be seen from this shot but is there. Also there are a few vinyl under the desk and behind me. This morning I am mostly listening to Trojan Records dub instrumentals, the roots of dubstep, not that most of todays poptarts would credit it. stage 4: the office, and ADJF online. I may not have as much time as usual to spend in this area. Final note: in the office I mostly use an ancient rocking chair. Happy now, ah yeaaahhhhhh.
  11. yer that brake sound from 1200/1210s start/stop button is the one I'm talking about and the one I tried to recreate on my NS6 for the cut transition I mentioned above. I use turning off the motor for a major genre change or at end of the night before playing a last song. Pretty cheesy but everyone seems to know what it means. Most players have tried to copy both these iconic sounds from the technics. Either that or they allow you to set the brake speed to your own specification. As usual experiment to find something that you like. As a side note: turning off the motor then turning back on and pressing start again to catch a beat can give some mad warped beats/sounds on certain riddims or samples. Very hard to make it work well during a beat match though.
  12. Hey man. Might be worth posting some of what you've done so far so the guys can avoid covering ground you already got down.
  13. Ez
  14. I'm made up eggs. Hope i played enuff of shake ya rump for you to get yer fill. Really happy you like man. And yer share it out bro.
  15. hey mattus I just posted a mix here: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=8366&p=117082#p117082 ...then remembered this thread. There's a "slam" or "cut" at about 22.36 into it that shows how easy it can be. I'm not posting to big up my mix. Just to let your hear that cut. I press "start/stop" to get that tiny wind out sound on "paid in full" and just slam de la soul in from the bass. Because the bass is instantly recognisable it hypes the crowd. Also main thing to note: the tempo of "paid in full" is 104bpm. The tempo of "3 is the magic number" is 120bpm. But coz of the cut/total failure to match/utter laziness and willingness to let the tunes do the work themselves: it works. So with cutting you really are playing a dif game and one which opens many doors to tunes you may have thought you couldnt use because the tempos were too far out. here endeth the lesson, party on bro.
  16. I guess soundcloud will throw a fit coz of the tunes I've used. That's kinda why I switched to mixcloud for mixes. I sent you a mail and a PM and the dropbox will probably mail you too. So that'll be fun for ya but yer, if it's a hassle nae buther. having listened back a few times in the car there's quite a few sloppy cuts and dodgy matches.
  17. ^love it Today I get a bit more classic dad/cock/Oz/driving/air guitar/topgear/insert prefix here/ rock they definitely made better songs but this one still get's it moment occasionally.
  18. Fark no. Wish it was but cant take the credit for the j5 djs greatesr work. Hope you still like the overall and thanx for givin it a listen.
  19. Aha. Eggs if you pm me an email i can put this mix in a dropbox for you to download my mate.
  20. 1kcetaceans? And you are new here? ez
  21. oh shit. insert massive facepalm.jpeg
  22. lol, I dont even know what "to host somewhere" means big net fail for jim. Anyway ave a good w/e: For best effect: Play it loud in a room with mates and party tings. For worst effect: sit quietly and alone and analyse every transition for competence and skill.
  23. lol.... If you mean you want to DL it thats cool but... I have no idea how to make it able to be downloaded.... lrn to internet 1st maybe? Srs tho, it was pretty clear on souncloud how to let people download stuff but soundcloud always gave me copyright shit. I cant see where on mixcloud I enable downloads? Help anyone?
  24. I too have only done external recording so forgive me if i'm way off the mark; the output routing section has an option for output record path. Your master and monitor on the same page of preferences are set but your "output record" is "not connected" Should this be assigned to something?
