ez. You want to get metal/rock into djing like pendulum. Good lad. Crossing genres is at the very root of having two turntables. If you havent already done so I highly recommend listening to The Prodigy a lot too (live drums an guitar at every gig since the '90's too)
  2. just necro threading coz I slipped this in a live set last week. not the best mix but hey, see what you think: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=8366
  3. same vibe IMO, bar ting jimma style. viewtopic.php?f=104&t=8366
  4. jims latest foolish mix by imadjination please feel free to ignore, slag off or just hate on. But if it is your kind of thing: please recognise this was done live surrounded by customers drinking, chatting, cheering, asking for rihanna or even offering to buy me a drink. None of which helped my concentration or ability to really hear what I was doing but all of which helped my keep it real and DJ for the moment. feedback always welcome
  5. lol, in some clubs one dude playing an acoustic guitar and singing folk is still popular. I'm not dissing it. I'm just saying that whenever a scene has arisen their will be fans who will maintain their love for that scene in it's original form. The scene may evolve but as long as enough customers are into it to keep it alive in some tiny form then new fans will also invariably find it and occasionally cause a revival. Each to their own. evolvers evolve, old skoolers stick to the old skool, we have a world full of variety and it is good.
  6. If you want to scratch at all you will need the visual " clock " display which shows where in rotation you are. This is on the 850 but not the 350. This display copies the way djs used a mark on the vinyl label to give a visual clue to where a sound occurred on each rotation. It is reproduced in some format on all dvs but not on the more basic cdjs.
  7. ^yep, from dropbox i import to itunes first on each machine. then whether i boot traktor on my pc or itch on my mac all the new imported tunes show up in whichever itunes playlist I dragged them to. all this method really does is eliminate the need for usb stick or a cd.
  8. I use a dropbox for all new tunes so each computer can diwnload it. But i still have to manually import each tune on each machine.
  9. All good. I'm pretty sure there is an existing thread on this but am on iphone so you'll have to search yourself. Might have been pre forum revamp too
  10. I also notice some of your tracks are being analysed as you load them. This also increases cpu load. When i first got traktor i dumped my whole itunes library in traktot collectiom and let it analyde all before trying amything else. It took seven hours.
  11. mate, i didnt get to watch in too much detail, there is a lot going on. From the off though: your cpu load is massive throughout. You waggle your mouse over it as if to point at it after you turn multi core support on but TBH the CPU load is freakin before and after this. DO you have other programmes running? Or perhaps some conflict with an internal soundcard?
  12. sounds like you're doing it all right mattus, especially getting the 2nd opinion from sis. re: dif bpms: either you find a place to cut between them that works or you use a little filler/break from another tune to bridge the gap, or you choose a dif tune. It is a totally dif game to edm but yer, using loops etc will bring it closer to that style and so easier for you. It doesnt all have to be same BPM though. Think of a live band, they vary bpm throughout their set. You can do this with hip hop too. just stop one and start the other, It's all about starting the new tune from a recognisable point that gets the audience hyped. (i.e. the hook). But golden rule: if it aint working change it.
  13. Use quick cuts and drop on the hook like a bomb. Scratch in to add flava. Because of the vocal content These songs are made to be heard not blended like edm. That doesnt mean dont match if you can. Just dont try too hard to do a match where a cut will be fine.
  14. Mate this is getting to be quite a headache isnt it. Unfortunately I only had traktor scrtach pro and a NI8 so my advice may be outdated, nevertheless: If i remember right traktor published the timecode for MK1 as a free download. If you paid for the product and it requires mk2 timecode then you should be able to find the download. Search available downloads in your personal NI service centre? Also if you are getting a problem just calibrating check your ni6 is set to cd not vinyl timecode. And double chk your "master tempo" is off on the cd players and that all the wires are correctly routed.
  15. feb 1st... will still be tight looking at my diary but i might actually get a chance to throw some scruffy shit together. nice 1 wazza.
  16. hmm, let us know if that does work out for you wont you bro.
  17. my life is complete. Crunddy is my priest
  18. should help. the only tip i can offer: when you are stripping the wires be really REALLY careful. There are only a few strands of internal cable to each wire and they are thin. Any time you cut through them you have to start over stripping the sheathing. And what lurker said is also true although on really fiddly jobs like this if you heat up the jack too much the plastic moulding round the edge of the new unit can melt. Sometimes it is better to melt a tiny bit of solder onto the cable then apply this to the joint then heat cable, solder and unit together. I'm not gonna make this sound easy coz it isnt but it is a good skill to have. Good luck.
  19. ^this. but sol: have a crack yourself. practise on spare wire and the old socket first. It's a skill worth learning and will save you loads of money in the future.
  20. Business always will and always has concentrated on sales over quality. Unfortunatley it is the nature of business. To balance this it is up to customers to reward those who supply quality, and punish those who are only good at selling. Unfortunately the sales business is winning and customers are complacent. Keep up the good work Lurker.
  21. His reedits are better than his originals.
  22. Migs is more polished than moodymanc. Local lad plays back to basics often. Proper house with no bells and whistles. Love this deep shit meself
  23. I have to make time to chk your mixes more often pun. 'kin major lazer dancehall tings in there?
  24. Man that bass cannon track was for late summer/autumn what Party Rock Anthem was to spring/early summer over here. Good ears for a big hitter again Gandy.
