  1. What's the purpose? Mixing or producing?
  2. Didn't even need to listen to it. Straight to the download button. Thanks!
  3. Working on mine now.... Just getting all my newly collected tunes sorted through Platinum Notes and MiK.
  4. Akk... Ok. Thought I saw in that vid I gave you last night an option that looked to be disabled for the RTM version they were using? What's the media centre like? Any changes worth noting? If so I am more likely to upgrade my HTPC than my desktop.
  5. With this... I can see a point in this operating system. Still don't think it is all that suitable to a desktop environment though. But I do see that the metro interface can be disabled for a traditional start bar... Correct?
  6. They were... Then they released that song. its just like drc1. you were cool... then you made that post. I beg to differ... I was never cool.
  7. XP Sucked! 7 has been the easiest OS I have used so far.
  8. I think I got my list sorted now.
  9. Hardstyle.... And take it up with the dude who categorises tunes at Beatport.
  10. Monster Cables
  11. A really good example of this, for those not following at home is this song... Listen from 3:15 and at 3:24 it goes from a key of Em to Gm for the outro, which is actually a very unusual modulation, but it works.
  12. http://community.mixedinkey.com/Topics/1621 You can also go up/down one (+/-7 ie 7A to 2A) or 2 semitones (+/-2 ie 1A to 3A). The affect in theory is much the same as key modulation used in many songs. I also did this intentionally to see how it would sound.
  13. ^^^ What he said!
  14. Just going through and linking a few of the mixes I have actually done. Heard this again on my iPod tonight and thought I would chuck it up. Certainly not my best work, and there was no intention of that. I had just bought Mixed in Key and wanted to experiment with how well this works by doing a live mix (unusual for me) using the miK theory to mix essentially random songs. Songs I knew, but was unsure how they would sound together. As I said, this is a live mix from me, which none of the other mixes I have provided here are. I am usually extremely meticulous with the planning of my mixes. I don't play live and have no real intentions of doing so. I will practise this more though as it is a required skill for the game. But listening through I was surprised at how well I did, especially towards the end. To me this proved the harmonic mixing theory as I think this mix has no real nasty conflicting sounds to it. The key progression for those interested are: 5A > 6A > 7A > 2A > 1A > 3A > 4A > 5A If anyone is really interested I could organise a download for you.
  15. I listened to this again tonight as it came up on my iPod while travelling and I remembered how this was only my 2nd ever go at creating a mix and surprised at just how decent a job I actually did. In many ways I guess the genre is fairly easy to mix. But still from having precisely zero experience in mixing to create this on my 2nd go was pretty good effort. Unfortunately it did go downhill from there for a bit before I really started learning what I was doing. Hardstyle isn't everyone's cuppa tea though. While I used to really like it back in the day (hence quite a few songs are current remixes of old tunes) it just doesn't really grab me anymore. But it seems the people I know do like it. http://soundcloud.com/dj-drc1/hardstyle-mix-1
  16. For his next intro post? lol
  17. I can attest to this... Welcome aboard
  18. Do you achaly want this to appear as 'Darryl - Friday Night Progressive Mix' ? or using your DJ name Better use DrC1... Don't want peoples knowing my real name now.
  19. Thanks Sol for the review. We should get more of these type of reviews going on here. Would help a lot of others out. I think $120 is a great price for a pair of headphones and where diminishing returns really kick in. While HD25's may certainly be better can you say they are approximately 3 times better than the Sol Republic V8's? Plus the price really isn't necessarily a yardstick of quality, Beats are a great example of expensive headphone that sound no better than <$100 cans (They are made by MonsterĀ® afterall). edit: For the record I have not heard either to judge for myself.
  20. Can we get a definition of Moombah and Trap? I do have a bit of music in the 100-120 bpm range that is definitely moombah but I got some others which I am not sure if it is just slow electro (or is this just moombah?) And trap is all but impossible to find. I know it is out there, buried somewhere probably deep within about 3 different genres of beatport. I have some, but not as much as I would like to be choosing from.
  21. Yeah it is... Down arrow on the far right
  22. They were... Then they released that song.
  23. Right there, listed under that Benny Benassi bloke....
  24. I still think this is my best work so far... Which you are more than welcome to. http://soundcloud.com/dj-drc1/friday-night-progressive
