My desktop has zero problems with Traktor. The CPU meter barely moves off idle. But then again my desktop is considerably better than the average laptop.

I don't use Rekordbox much other than auditioning songs and making a playlist of potential songs for future mixes (S4 & Traktor). I never even realised the key analyses feature, but I did just update it from 1.5 to 2 so maybe it wasn't there before? Interestingly the results sometimes differ to the analyse done by Mixed in Key? I know it isn't an exact science and many notes are common across keys. One has is F Minor ( F, G, A♭, B♭, C, D♭, and E♭) according to MiK and Rekordbox says E♭ major ( E♭, F, G, A♭, B♭, C, and D). So only one note a semi-tone difference between the keys.

A logical and intelligent view on the Quality DJ debate...
Kodiak replied to PhonicAssassin's topic in DJ Headquarters
Just read this in an interview with Kid Kenobi When asked aboout the new Nexus and sync.... I thought he made a good point. Of course DJ's will always exist in local venues. But right now it seems the Superstar DJ is a dying breed with the "Producer who DJ's" now the drawcard. And I can't really blame this mentality. There has always been the superstar DJ criticism of they are just playing other peoples music. This takes it to the next level of them actually (for the most part) playing their own tunes, or remixes. http://lifesupportmachine.co.uk/tracks/ ... exclusive/ Also some free Kid Kenobi tunes http://soundcloud.com/kidkenobi/sets/free-shit-2 -
Surely this isn't "another" model but an update/replacement of the DDJ-S1? If I was in the market right now I would definitely buy this over my S4.

I find that last part hard to stomach. But i have mo experience to refute it. I can't comment on the OS, but the lady I am seeing absolutely loves hers.

In need of a new laptop...whats the latest goodness
Kodiak replied to Bonz's topic in Computer Corner
What about the Asus one I found for Bonz? Full HD screen. Not sure on video card cause for Bonz's purpose was irrelevant. But gaming laptops cost a fortune (compared to equivalent desktop). -
Ok.... I have never used a mac. What makes them better? That refurb is $1k but an equivalent specced PC is in the $700 ballpark and that is new. Just want to know what makes them worth the price premium?

In headphones reviews I have read (not DJ specific) that is the main gripe of these is that they're generally uncomfortable. Don't have a pair to judge myself. But would like a pair.
-
I would highly consider it. In many ways the people will look to the DJ for leading their activities and fun. And I think getting involved would be beneficial. I wouldn't go over the top though. And only if I had the costume on hand. But most general themes would be ok such as 70's, hippy, Halloween etc. any theme that is specialised or very specific to the hosts I probably wouldn't.

I'll kick this off at $0.05 -
Welcome Forgive my ignorance, Persia is Iran? Looking forward to hearing done mixes and getting some of that local flavour.

Looking for decent computer monitors at a decent price??
Kodiak replied to dflux4's topic in Computer Corner
Umart.com.au for good priced pc gear. Pccasegear for good prices, excellent website. Also use staticice.com.au to find best price. Dual monitors will be better than 27" which will more than likely have a resolution of 1080p. If you are looking for screen real estate you can't beat multi monitor setup. -
I usually check out most people who give me a like. One guy had done decent original tunes but missing those things that make a song great. I gave some feedback on how he could take the songs to the next level. He was truly appreciative of the actually constructive feedback. About a week later I noticed he no longer "liked" my profile. I sent a message asking was he just spamming for likes. He apologised and came clean. So I in turn removed my lime of his profile. A couple weeks later the sand guy liked my profile again. I couldn't believe it. Randomly spammed a like on my profile. Which was gone a week later again.

Asus - 1080p screen, bluray, ram, backlit keyboard and apparently higher quality built in speakers. Doesn't cost much more than the toshiba and has those positives. -

Not big enough... You need at least a good terabyte for all your porn. edit: I love my ssd in my desktop.... Soo quick. -
I haven't heard all the album to judge, but I do like "The Veldt." And I have had non-EDM people state they didn't mind it either. The snobs will scoff at this mainstreamisation of EDM, yet happy to accept the greater exposure and income that comes with it. Back on topic..... This review is pretty negative, yet I had been thinking different of Deamau5's recent stuff. Like I said haven't heard the whole album, but I have come across a few of his remixes that have been absolutely awesome. The original song may have a lot to do with it, but the couple I come across all seem to have a common distinct flavour that you would expect from the same remixer. I have followed him on Facebook for a while. And whilst no excuse. I really do think he has some serious depression issues. I do remember a couple posts that had suicidal undertones.

Didn't FireWire die years ago? I have never seen it on a PC. Or is it an Apple only thing? -
Looks fairly massive. Can't say I personally have heard of anyone playing there but no doubt it would be a pretty big event.

Hmmm... Cannot vouch for the vendor but to me this seems like an awesome deal... http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=9938&osCsid=d0199ec237cecabe158633eabfe79459 To me a Bluray drive should now be standard. They are cheap now. 16Gb ram is massive and more than you will need. Plus a full HD (1080) screen on 15" monitor. An equivalently specced Dell XPS is north of $1600. And I personally like Asus Laptops (along with higher spec Dells) -

Which is practically identical to the one he already has. And Bonz... As you said you want to up the screen size, why not just buy a monitor? Get a nice 23" for about $200 and then when set up you can have dual screen goodness. When on the move you have the portability of a 15" laptop. Just a suggestion..... -

Surely you would pay the Alienware premium though? Although, that is a pretty good deal (got to love catch of the day). Must be old stock but compared to the current offerings it is a good $1k cheaper. This is a laptop for hardcore gaming nerds. I don't understand why people over-spec their computers when the basic ones are more than capable of doing what the majority of people do. I still maintain that their is nothing wrong with the OP's current laptop. Maybe clean out the crap that is slowing it down?
