  1. Bit of a mix of genres in this hour mix I did some time ago. It is mostly Progressive and Electro House, with a tech house song in the there and I finished up on a couple trance tunes. Not a bad mix, in my opinion for a newbie like me. Also only about the 3rd or 4th mix I had ever attempted at the time. Any feedback, positive or negative is greatly appreciated. Download is available too. http://soundcloud.com/darryl-currey/droids-in-heat Cheers... d.
  2. In my neck of the woods there is only 2 places and they compete for who is more shit than the other. They both play the same commercial shit. The few times they play something interesting the crowd usually loves it. But then they drop back to the normal crap. Or the opposite happens. You get a big fish in an extremely small pond playing their own thing that not a lot of people are interested in. Maybe this should go in the general whinge thread?
  3. Some good work here.... Good luck to everyone.
  4. I go on all forums usually as "TheBear" or "dcbear78". Bear come from when I was playing inline hockey my team mates gave me this nick name. Being a bit over 6 foot and 100kg, adding another couple on inches in height with skates on and another couple inches in width as I was a goalie with all the pads, I was quite big and imposing. But as I come to grow up I realised Bear was a name given to an over-weight gay man, so I have been trying to move away from that name. And especially didn't want it for anything club related. So when I was creating a soundcloud profile (or maybe mixcloud) I needed an extra letter so added a 1 on the end. Made the "R" little to be different. Also may be looked at as "Doctor C1".
  5. I have made a request like this too. Got a thumb up and of course it was never played. But oh well
  6. And a weird film clip to boot.
  7. Who won? Who won? Who won? Can you link all the entries here?
  8. They will be about $4k landed which is still a good $1-1.5k better than locally. Just how much that warranty means to you personally? For me that kind of difference is worth the risk. A local power pack is easily purchased from dick smith/jaycar.
  9. If you use a decent browser like Chrome it would translate it for you.
  10. Can't you input them as C & D and use the S4 as the mixer?
  11. Also anything over A$1k and customs will sting you with 10% GST. You will get a letter saying it needs to be paid before they will release the item.
  12. If you think my one here is worthwhile go for it.... You will have to bring it down from 320kbps yourself though. http://soundcloud.com/darryl-currey/friday-night-progressive
  13. I thought that was the only part if that movie she did a good job on.
  14. Yeah. I'm looking forward to hearing what we've all put up.
  15. I never thought it would be so hard to get to that first 30 people? Seems like my achual friends aren't all that into EDM (which I know most aren't) or willing to like my page just cause they know me?
  16. I got a heap in my cart that I haven't had the money for. Might add a few more and save while I can.
  17. Storedj have free postage on items under a certain weight (10kg?). Mine were about 150 grams under that limit. But of course the postage is built into the price (nothing in life is really free.) JB hifi have some too don't they?
  18. Cheers. It's very nice getting some positive feedback from some experienced hands. I am still so super new to this. But I think I am learning pretty quickly. I was told by a Brisbane DJ that I met that anyone can learn to beatmatch, but song selection and phrasing is skill you just have and not everyone can learn this. I've still lot's of practise to do to be able to mix like this in a live environment though.
  19. Do Green Brothers carry this kind of gear? When I was buying mine I didn't even think to have a look up there. Just would save a lot on shipping. Most will suggest going for 8" monitors, and mine are freakin huge! I had to return one under warranty, and one alone cost me $100 to get it back to Victoria.
  20. As long as you know the notes in the key you are using, and the appropriate chords for the key you should be right. Or do like most people and write it in either C major or A minor so you only need to use the white keys.
  21. ^^ That Daft Punk bootleg was an instant download. I am really liking 3LAU's work with remixes and bootlegs. http://soundcloud.com/nickraymondg/04-b-tch-city-3lau-bootleg
  22. I notice quite often I get an email saying someone is now following me, but they are not in my list of followers? This happening to anyone else? I have well over 40 emails saying someone is now following me, yet I only have about 17 followers. Is it possible people are just farming followers? Hitting the follow button knowing the email goes out, hoping you automatically return the favour but then immediately un-following?
  23. ah sweet, thats actually what ive been doing, just more practise i guess yea i do have music theory knowledge, my whole music knowledge is based around the guitar though, so its just a bit awkward doing it on piano now One of the reasons I guess it is recommended to learn piano as a first instrument. It really does show the fundamentals of music structure, more so than playing a guitar. You could still use the guitar to map out a basic chord progression that you want to use. Also could be handy to write down the actual notes used in the chord too (ie put the notes on a staff ie basic guitar C chord is CEGCE). The majority of the notes you will use (but not all) will come from the chord that is playing at the time (bass would almost exclusively stick to the notes in the chord.... unless you are awesome like Flea). This can then be used for your synths/pads later down the track. http://www.stringtheorychords.com/ <-- This also could be useful
  24. Cheers thanks for that.
