Do people prefer vocal or instrumental edits of tracks?

I am in the process of buying some tracks and I am sometimes having trouble deciding which track is better, the vocal edit, or the instrumental edit. With some tracks it's easy to chose, but some are just as good with vocals as without.

I often prefer the instrumental edits to be honest. that being said, vocal edit with mashups and what not are cool

if in doubt get both. Use whatever suits the moment best.

If you have both you can play both simultaneously and try clever tricks like playing the vocal for it's chorus but using the instrumental instead of playing verses, and vice versa and on and on and on... You are the DJ, you choose what sounds good.

I find most songs have one element that really makes the song.

A bassline, vocal or big lead etc

Some instrumentals are nothing without the vocal and at the same time some vocals are shallow and merely slapped on the instrumental.

Also should depend on what most crowds identify a song for.

For example i would never play the vocal version of calling or spaceman as those were added later by shitty rnb singers.

Something like dont you worry child or sweet nothing would go down pretty poorly if you played the instrumental.

instrumental for me. i've been a dance head for about 9 years now, i think it's because of this that i usually sway to more instrumental tracks. the problem is that vocal style tracks arn't reaaaallly made to be instrumental and because of this they can be a little stale / long winded.
