  10. being a warranty technician for dell, apple and lenovo (as well as doing a bunch of other IT related tasks as my full time job), i'm personally more inclined to go with apple/lenovo/Dell simply because if anything happens to it i can fix it myself as the warranty technician. Dell provide the best warranty out of the main manufacturers (next business day on-site service). So someone comes to your house / work and replaces the parts right there and then. Which i think is something important to think about when purchasing a laptop. However this is probably biased as I deal with broken laptops every day. Failure rates are coming down in recent times (providing you look after it). As far as something that will handle what you want to do, some basic specs I would recommend: -something with a decent resolution screen (i deployed a few latitudes the other day with a full hd screen in a 15" which was pretty dope) -core i5 quad core processor -4GB RAM (8GB would be ideal) -64 bit windows 7, so you can utilise more than 3.x GB of the ram -enough USB ports to plug all your crap into (something that is commonly overlooked when purchasing laptops). you will need one for your maschine and one for either a timecode soundcard / midi controller. so youd probably want 3+ USB ports. I'll leave you with those basic specs, go choose whichever brand you personally like, if you find a model your interested in and have any q's, post it here and i can answer anything. Hope this helps
  11. Yer its been dope to see you progress especially lately with the TFU label coming up man, also got to meet up with you when you played TFF which was sick. Always keen to meet up with people from ADJF. Always listen to and purchase your tracks where I can, I like what your doing. Keep it up. Will check your new set tomorrow (although i probably have most of them already!)
  12. I started off on a mixtrack pro which was alright to learn on, but i ended up wanting to upgrade to cdjs after a few months. depends if you wanna get a basic controller now and be prepared to upgrade a bit down the track or go all out right now
  13. are you going to be purely using it for DJing or other stuff as well? Whats your budget? Also what are you using to DJ currently (what cdjs/controller/ vinyl timecode/ etc.) ? also do you have any preference between mac and windows ?

  15. play to your time slot. If your playing peak time, go hard. If your playing early, tone it down a bit, you don't needa drop banger after banger. Also if you do that too early in the night the headliners later on can get pissed and then you might not get a gig again there as easily. if your up first, your essentially a warm-up dj imo, you build the crowd up without dropping too many bangers. have a few drinks before you get on the decks, will help with le nerves considering its your first gig. also, good luck (+ i'm expecting a gig log after the night)
  16. moved to electro & breaks - tracks. for future reference, tracks go in the tracks sub-forum of the relevant genre, mixes go in the mixes sub-forum. So you can make a separate thread for your mix in electro & breaks - mixes also it is better if you embed as soldios did for your track above. to do this, you go like this [SoundCloud]http://soundcloud.com/djscraggy/shobblestone[/SoundCloud] as far as the tune goes, it's pretty cool track man, real funky element to it

  21. There is a Fair chance when you buy a 'new' Mac it's got refurb parts in it anyway, so your not really losing out on anything by getting a refurb, providing you get the same as the current model out.
  22. Welcome
  23. welcome
  24. no. 128 and 192 aren't good enough quality to be played out. get some cheap compilation CD's from jb or something, such as "Top 100 80's hits, top 100 90's hits" etc and rip them in aiff or mp3 320
