This happens alot at parties, that is why its way better to have one person (le DJ) controlling it all, they can effectively control the mood and flow of the night through the music they play. No awkward silences (hopefully) and no tracks playing for 5 seconds each until someone comes up and changes it

What is he going to do with an SL1 box when he wants a controller? the S2 would be a good choice if your budget stretches that far, otherwise i have heard good things about the vestax vci controllers. Mixtrack pro is good to learn basics on but you don't want to grow out of it and then find yourself wanting something better too soon..

there is no way around it, you need to put the effort in dude. The thread that gandy linked to is a good start. The other question you need to ask yourself is if you want to spend the money and time on it, you need to really want to do it otherwise you won't enjoy it
