  1. welcome mate
  2. Had a gig where an ex boyfriend of the host showed up, which led to everyone getting in a fight and leaving by 10. Besides that my gigs in the mobile days were normally fairly sweet.
  3. Sounds like you have it set to pass through and just play the time code signal, instead of actual time code mode. As far as correcting it - never set one up personally so I can't help you there.
  4. Try this: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=12741 Not sure if it is sold or not yet though
  5. get the 7950 then when you upgrade to a newer windows desktop / newer mac pro you can keep the same card. You'll definitely see performance benefits over a cheaper card. However the motherboard/cpu on the mac pro 1,1 are at least 7 years old now, so I wouldn't be expecting anything amazing
  6. Well it all comes down to What your intentions with the machine are.
  7. ]10.8 won't run on a Mac Pro 1,1 as it is only capable of 32 bit. 10.8 is 64 bit kernel. Drivers will only be 64 bit I imagine as well. Unless someone has hacked their way around. In which case link me. Also btw when my Mac Pro 3,1 worked, I ran an asus hd 7950 and it worked a treat. Although I'm not sure how its price compares to the two you mentioned
  8. There is lots you can learn. You don't need to know it all to begin production. However this isn't the kind of thing you pick up overnight, so if you really want to do it, just stick at it bud.
  9. If you're writing in c major then yes, it uses all the white keys. Other keys use different combinations
  10. Depending on what model you get, the Optical drive sometimes runs on a slower bus compared to the hdd slot. If your interested in an SSD, i'd either put it in the HDD bay and take the hdd out completely, OR put the ssd in the primary hdd bay, then get a bracket to put the old HDD in the optical drive slot. From memory the brackets aren't that cheap though. Also making those kind of changes as soon as you buy it instantly voids your warranty. May be worth just paying to have the ssd upgrade done when you buy it. Or consider the retina 13" model, as it is based on a flash storage architecture which is very fast.
  11. This series is decent. He rambles a bit, but if you stick at it, it's fairly comprehensive for beginner

    iMPC

Native instruments have a very similar iMaschine app that integrates with the maschine desktop software. Possibly useful for smashing out an idea quickly in your head, then importing it to the desktop software when you're back at the computer next.
