  1. in fact, on the home page... under the 'Buy Music' header... click vinyl. then search away using the filters.
  2. decks.de phonicarecords.com rushhour.nl hardwax.com EDIT. yes discogs sells vinyl. if the person has vinyl. usually when you search for a particular track it will have a bit at the side for 'buy CD', 'buy Vinyl' & 'buy MP3' If it's not available on a particular format then it won't be listed so.
  3. i was talking about something like this... i was also kidding....
  4. only seen Qbert once and he was shit hot. this will be ace.
  5. just get one of thos iPod mixing things.... that'll sort you out.
  6. totally.... however a lot of these guys are pretty shit DJ's to start with. They make shit hot tunes that get them noticed and in turn gets them gigs DJ'ing. I remember warming up for James Holden a good few years back and he was pretty mince at DJ'ing but his productions were all over the place and his label was killing it too. It's defo easier to 'make it' if you can get yourself known for productions. Not many DJ's make it big anymore from purely DJ'ing.
  7. A good thing to do is to find a few tracks that have clear intro/outro's with only a kick or a kick and hi-hat. This will make it easier for your ears to follow what is doing what with regards to tempo of the tracks for beatmatching thus keeping your mix in check if your holding it for a while and stop you getting lost in a sea of pads and percussion. Not sure what style of music your after so don't know how readily available tracks with this type of intro/outro are. Another good way is to just load the same track (when I was learning it would be buy two copies of the same record) on both decks, increase the pitch on one deck to a random % and try to match them up.

    TOTD?

  9. As is the case with most genre's but I've always felt that it get's a bit much when it comes to sub genres. Some of the the titles for them out there are ridiculous. This one isn't too bad but it's still just dubstep in my ears. EDIT: or make up your own sub genre. I play lava house. deep as fuck....
  10. It all depends on what tracks your mixing when you wanna switch things up. A lot of tracks have a small break after the first to second minute. if you work it so that one tracks finishing when the drop hits then its pretty sweet... however, it all depends if that suits. It's a lot of trial and error. Pratice enough and you'll start to develop a natural understanding of when you should be mixing. Practice the EQ'ing....
  11. So it's basically just fast dubstep. Why not just call it dubstep?
  12. cheers
  13. And 4 of them were you.... :toughguy:
  14. welcome mate
  15. Cheers.
  16. Is that not a bit high? I was under the impression it's everything below 20Hz that yu want to take out as thats around where the human ear starts to hear things... Don't imagne it would make a grat deal of difference right enough will it?
  17. i was just thinking this the other day It's a pretty natural transition from DJ'ing to production. If you playe enough peoples tunes you should know what works and what doesn't and want to make your own tracks to play out. Obviously it's not quite as easy as it sounds though.....
  18. Would always be my first port of call.
  19. Ah right, I see where your coming from now. Didn't click on that you meant the fact it is music download site that's pushing production. To be fair to them they have been doing it for a few years now. Always had to pay for the privilege of entering their competitions before now though.
  20. I only have 215 tracks, 4.47 GB on this macbook. All my tunes are back home only hard drive. no Idea how many but there's a few....
