Makes no difference. Technics will last forever if they are looked after. I'm guessing from this that it's not your intention to really be playing your dad's old records so I don't understand why you want TT's. It'd only be worth it if you inteneded building up a vinyl collection to play.

^^^ this. I get very bored if I don't have buttons to push and knobs to turn etc.... just using the laptop on its own is pretty unsparing from me after like 5 mins.

I use the launchpad. Pretty useful as it can function as a step sequencer too as well as allowing you to midi map any control to one button or a range of buttons (handy for filters etc) Main advantage for me is it's small and light enough to travel with. My tracks are usually between 60-70 meg. Thats for a track around 6-7 mins long.

Abelton doesn't allow you to export as .mp3. you'll have to use another program to compress it down. I use 'switch'. Although I only ever compress files down if it's a DJ mix i've done. Otherwise I leave it as .wav

You need to decide how happy you'd be having a different set-up. At the end of the day we live in a world of debt so your always gonna owe money for something. If you sell now with the intention of buying a digital set-up, will that be enough for you or will you, further down the line, want to upgrade to something like you have now? I've been in the situation where I've head to sell some gear and I really wish I didn't as there's always been other things i need money for so chances are i'll never get to replace them. If it's not a matter of being able to afford to live I'd say keep what you have and save for the house that little bit longer that it takes to raise the same amount of money you'd expect from the sale.

Live would be ideal, unless you want to stream a premix This might be handy for people who can't commit to a regular thing. Once I'm actually settled here , by that I mean have a house, I'll still be working away for 4 weeks at a time so couldn't do a regular show. Would like to put some mixes out there though.

I've not listened but the fact you've even said this should tell you that you need to do it again. You want your demo to be as professional as you can possibly make it. I know I wouldn't give someone a gig if they were couldn't be bothered to make their demo sound good. What would they be like on the night is what I'd be thinking...
