It's not merely giving people features, the unit itself is a blatant and lame copy of the new pioneer players, and people notice this. Overall they are by no means a terrible unit but in the gemini vs pioneer debate that will come up due to them looking so similar and having similar features you wouldnt think twice about staying with pioneer. the screen is pretty crap, too small and touch screen is fairly useless. Job is quite good, imo not as good as the pioneer more along the reloop lines. They are very quick at loading though, but no link feature or possibilty of a pro dj link type application is disappointing. Overall quality of parts and build quality you wouldnt choose them over pioneer, if they were 500ish each some entry level buyers would find them a good option but as they are priced now, no way. CDJ effects also suck compared to mixers ones.

Lol at the pc vs mac debate, they are the same bloody thing these days. Macs are better with viruses and a bit (not amazingly) more reliable. If you know what you are doing with a pc it will be just as reliable i have a desktop and laptop on win 7 no major issues and have had both for years. You can obviously do more on a pc and can achieve the same specs as a mac for less money. Seeings as it is for production and not mobile performance would def go a pc desktop instead of an Imac, if it was for performing and you wanted a laptop would go the macbook.

Fuck look at the gear lol epic Looking at it more lately as well the type of clubs has a lot to do with it too. Like the music people clubs (candys, arthouse, whaat cluub) just dont have controllers period, i think the bigger, more genre specific or underground clubs require djs on decks whilst more commercial/smaller venues/pubs are more controller friendly. That said i feel now that unless you are a mobile dj or the venue has no in house gear there is no need for controllers. Serato and usbs/rekordbox fullfill the aspect of digital storage of music and you would actually have to carry less around than if you had a controller.

Also re-cloud computing and storage thats years away, australia doesnt have the infrastructure for it, also considerable speed and privacy/safety issues with cloud, i think high capacity/hot swappable usb/hdds are the best way forward very hard to best local storage imo

Of course it makes sense cds are old technology now plus it takes up considerable space compared to other components, only use it for burning which is probly better achieved with an external one, good move by apple.
