Ah well man still good to get that gig under your belt, only up from here
-
Yeah could be worth it man i have the 600 at home they are pretty old now though would have been through a hard life id say. Potentially the output would be quite an easy and cheap fix not sure about fixing effects though
-
No wouldnt get it, should run xlr for any proper speakers, what type of mixer maybe the output can be fixed
-
Nicky romero, laidback luke and dillon francis all supposedly locked in, any wish lists on here? Id like to see dada life out again, can also expect a very solid trance lineup totem is loving trance atm
-
As much as i'm sick of the argument there is two sides man, some clubs and scenes do care what people use. It's not so black and white as one technology vs the other its the attitude and aspects of many controller djs that annoy traditional djs, as you say it should be about the music and i'd wager someone who has spent a considerable commitment to the art of djing on cdjs or vinyl would 100% be in it for the music compared to many controller guys who can pick it up and be playing out alot quicker more of a trend sort of thing. But from talking to you tonight i know you aren't in that category so relax lol
-
Alot harder these days, big break downs lots of progression and melodic stuff going on. Your Nicky Romero's etc are where it's at now
-
Yeah sounds like you have it covered man what's your facey/soundcloud? I only find i mix in at the first drop as people tend to get bored of tracks without well known vocals if you play them too long, but 2am should be fine you will get a feel once you start anyway. Love dounia's it's almost bloody trance, speaking of which i'm going to be trialling a few trance trakcs next time i play candys see how it goes, trance is on the up again man.

Low bitrate MP3's skipping in my CD turntables
GREMM1S replied to Hypernova's topic in Turntables & Stylus
Upgrade your cdj firmware too the older models cdj800/1000s dont all run fantastically well with mp3's i would most def stay clear, audio can fit around 10 tracks and you really dont want anymore than that on one disk -
i should learn to use punctuation haha. ^corrected Haha damn punctuation, the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit
-
Generally for hard electro and progressive i always mix at the first drop. That said by 2am everyone is munted as fuck or well on their way so it's time to take them on a trip to mars so i like to go for the songs with awesome melodic breakdowns and buildups hands in the air shit Throw in a singlong track or two at this time of night too rhcp - otherside remix etc. If it's a really fucked crowd you can honestly play what you want lol Good luck man make sure you tell us how you go.

DJM 900 - $2200 DJM 2000 - $2600 Allen & Heath Xone 92 - $2000 Interesting who knows, the pioneers have gotten a lot better the sound quality is crazy on the 900. Ah well all do the same thing end of the day.
-
Its most likely from using pioneer all these years so they feel awkward, whats the price difference say between a 900/2000 and a 92? If they arent alot dearer there must be a reason why they arent standard here
-
99% of clubs are 800/900s the a&h have better sound quality but dont find their layouts overly good tbh
-
Hahaha you get stands with the speaker hire bro.
-
Nobody uses that feature man, unless you owned the 900 you would just bring a soundcard for timecode or one inside a controller. I wouldnt bother touching denon as you want to familarise yourself with the pioneer mixers for club gigs yeah?
-
Were they on stands? The best you can do is try different heights, directions spacing etc. Try and determine what the roof is made out of if it is flat etc, put your speakers closer together in the center to concentrate sound or sometimes if you spread them out against the side walls you can get lucky, it's trial and error man. Def make sure they aren't on the ground though.
-
hehe yeah i am always tossing up whether to buy or not, but really the amount of times i hire i doubt would have cost more than a good set like the jbl's, plus if i blow a hire one (like i have), they generally dont care and dont charge you unless you are a dickhead. When you consider the repairs costs of 100ish for a replacement driver of decent quality if you know how to change it yourself or 2/300 if you dont and take it somewhere it's def the safer bet to hire.
-
A good way to do it if the person has no idea about the equipment and you don't feel comfortable with playing for free, tell them they have to cover the hire of the gear and petrol if you feel you deserve more. It's always a very touchy subject when drawing the lines on who should and shouldn't pay, because i hire my speakers which costs me around 50/60 i tell the person they cost me say 100 if i feel as though i should be getting paid if they are not that close. For awhile i found it hard to justify asking for more or even money for some people, once i got more confidence in my abilities and playing in clubs has made it easier as people dont expect me to do it for free anymore (mostly). You also have to consider if you have many friends at the party and whether or not it will be enjoyable, will it have a decent dancefloor and crowd? Do they like decent music? Will there be heaps of grog etc, i am quite happy to play crazy parties that love their electro and whatnot if there is beer and i will enjoy myself. All things to consider, another tip always establish the money straight away when they inquire, bullshit if you have to if it makes you feel better say you are booked for another party but would rather do this one if they cover the money to make it worthwhile, nothing worse than having to tell them about money or argue about prices after the party. EDIT didn't see where you already havn't done it lol, that said you might find ^ that useful (more than likely not)
-
Someone on here was experimenting with breaks production awhile ago can't think who it was.
-
lol just ban hip hop like we did, if you really hate different genres its no good for you to play it and it will most likely sound crap if you detest a genre, let people know what you play and dont play. I would personally rather not do a gig than be out of depth in a genre like old rock or something. when i started i was getting people asking me to do 50ths and all sorts of crap no megusta haha
-
you mean like what they do at GP and glue and places like that Hahaha cupe will be on a current affair next week
