  1. Ah yeah i mess about like going over parts of songs to see what works well together and whatnot
  2. I try and strive for perfect mixing all the time anyway like ive just stepped into a club, messing about is good to find transitions and whatnot though
  3. I will admit that is one really cool thing how many different ways and things there are to djing now. You have mpc's and launchpads with ableton, vinyl with timecode, the new cdjs etc the list goes on.
  4. 100% but it's the fact most people using the technology aren't doing this, they are merely doing basic mixing which pisses me off. End of the day each to their own but manually mixing is mixing by the ear and will always sound better /endthread haha
  5. Is usually a decent day out, dont like any of the leaks so far but there is always a strong electro contingent
  6. Sounds good i am down
  7. Thinking about getting rid of this i dont use it http://www.djresource.eu/images/gear/sm ... -dxm01.jpg
  8. Awesome man will be doing a trance mix of my own soon, love rocket monster one of my faves atm <3
  9. What style you running mate?
  10. ^ Mitch is right have your recording hardware/software always set up. I moved my decks sat night after going out and was banging out a perfect trance set didnt record
  11. What have I said that was wrong? I didn't list the problems that can occur when using usb etc. As for the list of problems you've mentioned there fore vinyl... I always carry spare cartridges with me, never had to change one during a gig in 10 years (bare in mind I use my own anyway so I know they are in good condition). Earthing cables shouldn't really come loose. If they did then it's down to human error in not setting it up properly. Once it's screwed in it won't come out. As for DJ's puttin jacks in the line/cd inputs... Well that should really be done before a night opens so i don't know how that would have any bearing on the music during the event. And again, it's not difficult to see what inputs are for what anyway. Yip i've seen some of this happen. Again... more problems not brought up by me against technological advances. I use TSP and vinyl together. Luckily I've never had any problems with TSP or my timecode vinyl and i'll always have vinyl to hand just in case anyway. I'm speaking from my experience of DJ'ing from before everyone was using CDJ's and then laptops and now usb's/controllers etc. Yeah all good man was just getting the vinyl supremacy vibe and i was tired lol sorry if i came across aggressive. You would be great to handle in a club where i used to work some of the morons that would rock up with crap condition gear and equally poor attitudes was astounding. In that regards i feel vinyl requires a sensible and attentive dj, i do feel cdj is a bit more idiot friendly. But still end of the day they all have their problems, i am still adjusting to the move to usb, having felt link was not overly reliable and now seeing heaps of pros say the same it has been very reliable with a usb in each deck, the only issue is some files cause freezes which is solved with a restart of the player.
  12. Oh virtual dj on a touchscreen nice

    TOTD?

  14. It goes in waves mate in regards to technology, as internet gets faster and storage gets larger/cheaper, better and larger file types will become popular. MP3 whilst not great was the most balanced file type when people moved towards digital music. While it loses quality the physical and practicality of mp3 on cds and usb far outweighs the quality of vinyl especially for club djs. Think you have been very biased and pretty wrong with alot youve said on here mate. You gone on about how vinyl doesnt have those problems, i forever seen djs with needle/catrudge problems/being dirty etc, earth cables becoming lose or breaking, djs forever putting the jacks in the line/cd inputs and thats all before you touch serato and other dvs system, which i can safely say are far more troublesome than cd/usb. Turntables not reading the timecode, computer/audio related issues, fucking up change over, setting up serato incorrectly and the stress and bullshit that goes along with setting up the serato in dark and cramped booths. Alot of club djs already use wav files and other high quality files hopefully more move towards it so the sound quality debate can be finally dropped.
  15. Exactly could rock up with headphones and usb/cd instead heaps lighter
  16. I started on one of those not too bad actually, wouldnt really put it in the durable category though mine died from being a bit rough with the faders
  17. Voice over artists a quick google should bring up professional people to do it which is like 50 for a few minutes worth or something
  18. It is no coincidence the majority of sync djs cant read a crowd well nor pick harmonically matching songs or pick appropriate sections of songs to mix in and out of etc the list goes on. Its not just the manual beatmatching that is the issue its the mentality and all the associated aspects of djing well. 9/10 controller djs dont do it well lool at the bigger picture guys.
  19. All the way and i 100% mean it, it honestly just feels like its meant to be now all i think about do whenever i have a free moment. Short term wise i want to secure more regular weekly gigs and move Into the main rooms.
  20. Lol besides the fact guys using vinyl especially with dvs systems have far more issues than with cd or usb.
  21. Works in two ways; Firstly it auto detects the bpm and when you press sync on the left deck its makes the pitch automatically adjust so that the bpm is the same. It can also be pressed while the track is playing and if the track starts slipping off the beat where you would pitch bend or give the platter a push it will align the kicks and bars using a beatgrid that maps where the kicks are in a song
  22. Everyone starts there lol, i still use it to play with transitions and stuff quickly its pretty usefull
  23. haha yeah it's like that aye
  24. Keyboard son lol use the arrows as a pitch bend and set up your pitch ratio in settings, haha used to be pro at vdj with a mouse and keyboard. And good to hear you are learning both sides as well, the S1 is really one of only few controllers you can mix properly without sync anyway.
