The wait for Jauz’s debut album is nearly over, as The Wise and The Wicked is set to be released on August 31. And now, fans can witness the full tracklist and concept behind the album. To our surprise, it has been separated into chapters alternating between Wise and Wicked, and ultimately, United. In Jauz’s own words, “When I’m writing music, half of my brain wants to write fun, crazy bangers for parties, clubs, fests, etc. This is represented by ‘The Wicked.’ The other half of the time I want to write emotional, intelligent, experimental music that feeds the ‘inner artist’ in myself, which is represented by ‘The Wise.’ The middle ground, which is where I strive to really be, is a blend of the melodic, emotional parts of my music paired with high energy drops and climaxes. This is represented by ‘The United.'” Jauz has created an entire storyline to go along with the album as well, which is just as engrossing as it is original. Check out the tracklist (which includes newly revealed collaborations with Krewella, Ducky, HYPRESSION, and more) and story below, along with the five singles that have been released so far. In this dystopia that Jauz has dreamt up – the wealth gap is about to reach its limit, which will leave only the ultra-rich minority, and the completely impoverished majority with no middle class whatsoever. From these two financial “castes,” two seperate alliances have formed, each hell-bent on using their own methods and techniques to inspire and empower the masses, and save the world in their own image. The Wise inspire the masses by using intelligence and knowledge, and hope to find a cure for the ailing earth we live on with new groundbreaking technologies. They believe that only the truly adept should survive. On the other side, The Wicked believe in full anarchism, using anger and aggressiveness to grow their ranks, and will eventually let the modern world burn itself to the ground so it can be rebuilt in a more sustainable way. But the plot thickens, The Wise celebrate music and creativity in ancient theaters, concert halls and in front of monuments. Their music aims to teach, and is more catered to the intelligent. While the music of the The Wicked is more primal, fueled by energy and anger. They share their sounds more publically, under bridges, in abandoned buildings, in the middle of the streets. Their rivalry comes to an end, after chapters of the two castes opposing each other, a third party enters, The United, who are fueled by passion to create a better world. As outcasts of both parties, they have seen the errors both sides have made and also the strengths each side possesses. They have realized that this fight is not between two sides of humanity, but between all of humanity itself and everything that corrupted both sides into sinking our world deeper into darkness. The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards go down tonight and here’s everything you need to know leading up to showtime. Rapper Cardi B leads the pack with a total of 10 nominations, which is no shocker considering her swift rise to the hip hop throne this year. She’s followed by some more straight up music royalty, The Carters — aka Queen B, Beyoncé and her king, Jay-Z with eight total nominations. They’re followed by Childish Gambino with seven. Other artists vying for the top honor, Video of the Year, include Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, Camila Cabello and Drake. Noticeably absent from all major categories is Taylor Swift. But the MTV VMA that most concerns us is definitely Best Dance. Avicii, Calvin Harris, The Chainsmokers, David Guetta, Marshmello and Zedd will all battle it out tonight. Our hearts are telling us that the late legend may take this one out of pure respect — but it’s really anyone’s game! The 2018 VMAs will air on MTV at 9 pm EST/ 6 pm PST tonight in the US. The pre-show begins at 8 pm EST / 5 pm PST. UK audiences will have to wait until tomorrow, when the awards show is broadcast at 8 pm on MTV UK. 2018 MTV Video Music Awards Video of the Year Ariana Grande – “No Tears Left to Cry” Bruno Mars ft. The Eagles are now certified 38-times platinum for their most famous record, as Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 becomes the best-selling album of all time in the U.S. “Take It Easy,” “Witchy Woman,” “Desperado,” and “Take It to the Limit” are just some of the hits housed on this 10-track record. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and reached number one the following week, and has been played out by rock fans ever since. The band’s singer and drummer Don Henley just issued a statement following the headlines: “We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years. It’s been quite a ride.” With this the country rockers surpass another legend, Michael Jackson, who was holding on to the title with his 33-times platinum record Thriller. Ahh Disclosure, after catapulting to fame with a bunch of what we were calling ‘deep house’ bangers, they seemed to have had a bit of a cool off period. Now though, they’ve released their second tune for the year, Moonlight, and boy it’s a doozy. Lately they seem to have been exuding a bit of maturity in their sound, a little more subtlety, a lot more groove. It’s got a looped acapella from a Swedish group and once again, it’s subtle, it’s building and it doesn’t have that in your face, taking over the tune vibe. Moonlight soothes and relaxes, showing that sometimes simple is best. The new Disclosure direction is seeming right up our alley, so we’re holding out for an album! Check out their new one below and tell us what you think, is this something you’ll be getting behind? Source

Blurring the lines between music genres, Los Angeles-based music producer and DJ, LyLoh puts a fresh spin on dance music by borrowing from heavy rock and pop to defy categorization and take feel-good music to new heights. Born and raised in France, LyLoh moved to LA ten years ago with his metal band after signing their first record deal. He then went on to take up producing full time, working with some of the biggest names in Pop Music, having multiple platinum-selling records, and even winning a Grammy for his work in 2017. LyLoh then sought to find his own unique voice, so he began mixing all of his favorite genres into one compact, ridiculously entertaining song. This is how “Riot!” was born. The accomplished musician’s first single under his new artist project sets the tone for his strong commitment to breaking down genre boundaries. The vibe-heavy combination of catchy melodies, metal guitar tones and EDM drums takes center stage and provides a perfect introduction to what LyLoh’s music is all about: Hooky feel-good songs that can lift anyone’s spirits. Check it out and let us know what you think! Enjoy. The post LyLoh Puts A Spin On Dance Music With The Release Of ‘Riot!’ appeared first on Verge Campus. Source

Trance legend Paul Oakenfold has been tipped to play a private set at Stonehenge in September. Yes, THE Stonehenge. We’ve seen him gig at a lot of iconic destinations, from The Great Wall of China to Mt Everest, but this one I’d argue, takes the cake. Oakenfold himself saying “The energy there will be like nowhere else on earth, and this will be reflected in my music and performance.” The gig, which hasn’t been given a specified date just yet, is an invite only party with only 50 people being allowed to attend. It will however be recorded and released with all proceeds heading to English Heritage a charity that preserves historical sites. We reckon this one could be on par or better with Solomun’s set for Cercle, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see! Who would you like to see rock a sick set at a heritage site? Source

Sexual harassment is a major problem at music festivals — and a new study has exposed some extremely upsetting statistics. According to Durham University research, 30% of women say they have been sexually harassed and 10% sexually assaulted. Safety at music festivals is a huge concern, as almost seven out of 10 women worry about potential sexual advances at events across the UK. The numbers are much lower among men respondents. About 5% say they have been sexually harassed and 1% sexually assaulted. Still, the fear exists to some degree, regardless of gender. Theft and physical violence are also big concerns of the 258 surveyed (so far). Mel Kelly of Safe Gigs for Women is speaking out about the findings: “These figures are shocking but not surprising as this is just more evidence that women fear for their safety at live music festivals. This fits anecdotally with what we hear every day … Hopefully organisers hear this and respond appropriately.” Durham University Study Breakdown Worried about… Theft – 64% Physical violence – 53% Sexual harassment – 65% Sexual assault – 66% Source: The Guardian This article was first published on Your EDM. The crunchy midtempo music train is going full throttle ahead, and every producer is out there trying their hand at the style. Some come from bass realms, some not, but the end result is always a dark and foreboding theme with powerfully textured synths and thunderous bass. LUUDE’s new song “Omen” takes this sound and also combines it with the sort of dystopian, cyberpunk themes introduced by artists like Gesaffelstein and Kavinsky years ago. The bouncy rhythm is more than indicative of that era, while the dark build and crunchy synths bring in the new. As with many songs producers end up releasing, LUUDE says he’s been sitting on this one since early 2017 but received a burst of inspiration during a recent trip to Los Angeles, where he finished it up. Check out “Omen” below. This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: LUUDE Drops New Cyberpunk Thriller “Omen” Source

Insomniac Events’ techno brand Factory 93 has teased some fresh news. As they’re known for bringing incredibly talented artists to the stage like Carl Cox, Eric Prydz, Solomun, and Nicole Moudaber, they are sure to never disappoint. They’ve also hosted their own stages at Insomniac events like Escape, EDC Orlando, and EDC Las Vegas. But now.. it looks like they’ve got a new festival on their hands. Although we don’t know the location of this huge mystery event, we do know it’ll be happening on October 13th and 14th and somewhere in Southern California. This debut of the Secret Project Festival is giving everyone a run for their money. Most of their events are usually held at the Hollywood Palladium, Exchange LA, or the Naud Street Warehouse, but these venues don’t seem like they will suffice for this large 2 day spectacle. We can’t wait for more information to trickle in, and we promise to keep you updated. The post Factory 93 Teases Techno Festival in SoCal appeared first on EDM Maniac. Source

It has recently revealed that Carl Cox has been thinking about reopening the infamous Space Ibiza. He claims that the team behind this has been planning to rebuild a new club in Ibiza. During an interview, he was asked whether or not he’s found a new home on the beautiful island. He had a long term residency there of 15 years. His response was, “Space was definitely the place for me,” he told Be-At TV. “We have the idea of bringing Space back next year for maybe an opening and closing, but apart from that we are actually looking for a new area to build a new Space somewhere on the island. “Yes, it’s going to happen – there’s no doubt about that! I’m going to bring it back in the near or the distant future. I mean, I’ve lost my home and I need to build a new one. “Space was built as an independent club in Playa d’en Bossa. Playa d’en Bossa only became Playa d’en Bossa because of Space. The new Space doesn’t actually have to be on Playa d’en Bossa. Obviously we need some place where it’s a little bit quiet. There is no way I’m going to build a Space nightclub next to Ushuaia or anything. “We will go to a completely new place with a new concept. But the idea is to have the same people who made Space and have people who want to support me in my quest to create a new Space back on the island.” In October 2016, Space Ibiza closed it’s doors for the last time right before it went on to take the #1 spot in DJ Mags Top 100 Clubs survey in 2017. Unfortunately, there isn’t more information to report regarding this but Carl Cox claims that 2020 sounds like the perfect year to him. We’ll all keep an eye out. The first new album in eight years from Rhode Island noise-rockers Daughters will grace us this fall, as the band has announced that the disc, titled You Won’t Get What You Want, will arrive on October 26th via Ipecac Recordings. Along with the album news, Daughters have unleashed the new song “The Reason They Hate Me” (listen below). The upcoming full-length effort is the fourth album from Daughters, who formed in 2002, then went on hiatus prior to the release of their third album, 2010’s self-titled effort, only to reunite in 2013. “You Won’t Get What You Want is a decided effort to reference both my admiration for and my influence from, film composition and other minimalist music, along with a few moments of self-reference,” says guitarist Nick Sadler of the forthcoming album. As for the new song, singer Alexis Marshall says, “We find ourselves at another reveal. With ‘The Reason They Hate Me’ we break from the narrative for a meditation on opinions and their assertion. For those insisting their critique is art: they’ve got a name for people like you.” “The Reason They Hate Me” follows the previously released song “Satan in the Wait“. You Won’t Get What You Want is available for pre-orders at this location. Fans can catch Daughters on a U.S. tour this fall, beginning Halloween night Richmond, Va. Thoreau switched directions a few months ago, changing course from EDM to hip hop, and he’s never sounded better. Of course he’s retained all the knowledge he gained from producing EDM and still uses it in his new music, but the content and goal are so much different than before. His new song “All You Ever Had” is easily the most personal song that he’s released yet, about mental health, addiction, and a real friend who needed help. “’All You Ever Had’ is a story about a friend I knew growing up. She was never happy with herself and would constantly self-medicate and avoid her issues entirely in attempt to hide them. It’s something most of us have gone through…the constant voice in our head that tells us we aren’t good enough, even when everyone else around us tells us the opposite. In a time when mental health is such an issue, I wanted to write a song for anyone who might be struggling or hurting. Always remember that you’re never alone.” – Thoreau Thoreau plays the part of narrator in the video, sitting alongside the main subject, never interacting, but just telling it how it is. Finally, in the last scene of the video, she rests her head on his shoulder, signifying perhaps tiredness or at last a desire to depend on someone else. Either way, the message is powerful. Check out “All You Ever Had” below. Thoreau’s Reflections EP will be out August 30 including the songs “Afraid,” “In For,” and “All You Ever Had.” This article was first published on Your EDM. Nicki Minaj isn’t too pleased with Spotify right now. Particularly as it concerns her new album Queen and, in her opinion, the streaming service’s lackluster promotion surrounding the release. Referencing Drake‘s recent Scorpion SZN promotion, which left many subscribers outraged, Minaj went off on Twitter… “Spotify had to teach me a lesson but rewarded the man who has had an Apple radio show the longest; inadvertently helping the Apple platform the most.” A rep for Spotify has since spoken out to Variety and feels the promo was sufficient:”Spotify supported Nicki Minaj with a Times Square billboard, a host of the largest playlists, New Music Friday and the new music release shelf. Her song ‘Bed’ actually saw an increase based on the promotions put behind the campaign.” “The company continues to be big fans of Nicki.” Queen has failed to reach the number one spot in the US in its first week, as Travis Scott remains at the top for his new album Astroworld. Nicki Minaj vs. Spotify Spotify put drake’s face on every playlist but told me they’d have to teach me a lesson for playing my music 10 mins early on #QueenRadio. Even tho they’ve been giving away my music for free for years & I am one of the top Spotify artists of all time. — QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 19, 2018 Spotify had to teach me a lesson but rewarded the man who has had an Apple radio show the longest; inadvertently helping the Apple platform the most. Oh I can’t wait for #QueenRadio on Tuesday. They took away my promotion they had promised for the 1st cpl days b/c of this. #Queen — QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 19, 2018 My music went up on Apple so I played it. I assumed it was on Spotify & Tidal at the same time. Spotify said that Apple tweeted fans advising #Queen was up & therefore they had to teach me a lesson. But PRAISE BE TO GOD!!!!!! — QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 19, 2018 My label didn’t want to defend me for fear of Spotify trying to teach Ariana a “lesson” too! https://t.co/1dAdbcbWVd — QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 19, 2018 Do you know how many people subscribe to my Spotify page????? — QUEEN (@NICKIMINAJ) August 19, 2018 H/T: NME This article was first published on Your EDM. I did a little research whilst listening to this track for the first time, and found out that Nakuru is also a town in Kenya. It appears to be a great place, containing stunning views, overall encapsulating incredible beauty, something I believe both the town and the brand new single, “Nakuru”, from Leo Lauretti & Quizzow, have in common. I’m not sure if there’s any correlation there, but this single is another booming trance anthem that Leo Lauretti and Quizzow struck gold with. It’s lead by a euphoric arrangement that is entirely uplifting. These guys make a great team, bringing together so many elements to make “Nakuru” a timeless sensation, one I will be listening to for a very long time. Stream “Nakuru” below!
