one way to put the above charts in to action is notch out the freq of your bass from your kick. can really help the bass sit better. this is a technique a sound engineer showed me ages ago. i cant quite remember it (as I've not really done it a lot recently) but I'll have a crack.

IE: your using bass in the key of F which from the above chart means the freq's listed. Notch out from your kick 87.31 or 174.61 (depending on kick) and also notch out a higher one if you have a nosier kick say with a cymbal on top. so 2793.83 or even a few octaves higher if need be.

feel free to correct me on this one. I'm pretty sure this was way to "notch EQ" your bass.
