This. But isn't your wireless mic receiver, externally powered? When you say master volume, are you reffering to the mic volume on the mixer or the volume on the receiver?

Has anyone bought any of the ebay lighting trusses?
Lurk6r replied to AlexJ's topic in Lighting & Visuals
Are you looking for tri-truss or Ibeam? What/how many lights are you thinking of hanging on it? I bought something similar to this off a dude on the forum. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stage-Light- ... 694wt_1139 I don't think it will break, but it does have some slight dents from where I clamped the lights on. From my experience, make sure your truss can be assembled without tools, mine needs an Allan key to tighten the actual truss connectors, its a bit of a pain, but i'm always shitting myself that I'm going to forget it. I don't use the T part of the stand, but its nice to have in case I want to throw a smaller show that doesn't require the full truss. -
Hi Guy, This is just a message to all the Melbourne ADJF'ers. On Saturday 11th of august at the Bay Hotel will be Heat 1 of The "We want you" Dj Competition. This will be my first time playing in a club EVER. So if your in the area come on down and support me. Entry is $8 and you get a $21 drink card with it. Yeh night is on a sunday. for warm up I'm looking at something with this general feel, +/- 10bpm. http://soundcloud.com/dj-eddie-ponce/zumba-mini-warmup-mix-for-my Not exactly sure on liquid drum and bass. If you can go from rnb to dnb that would be cool, I think wrapping the night up with some moombahton would work better with the theme. If you can make a short mix or youtube me a couple tracks your thinking of using, that would be helpful. I'm more than happy to let you do your thing, provided it works with the night (not too heavy unless its a well known remix of a popular song) and the crowd is digging it. Another thing that popped into my head. We could adjf radio or ustream it!

Hi, Me and a friend are starting a club night in Melbourne. As it stands this is going to be a test night with the potential to go monthly based on it running successfully (eg cost neutral) I am more or less in charge of the technical/A&R side of the night. The core concept of our night is a place that people who dance latin american (cha cha, salsa, merengue) can go somewhere, dance and let loose, without feeling like they are the odd ones out. That being said, its not a STRICT latin night and later on thing will be expected to get loose and messy. As of now, I am the resident dj, but would like to expand the line up, as well as provide an opportunity for some of you guys who may not otherwise have had much experience. I'm open to suggestions and if the crowd likes what your doing then i'm not going to object, but for now we would be looking for a warm up dj to play chillout music, deep house ideally with a latin flair. Then me, taking it from more traditional latin music into hits/bangers/etc. Then finally somebody to slow the night down and ease into some 90's house/hip-hope and chill rnb. This is an opportunity to get your face and name out there! This being the first night I can offer a $50 drink card and free entry for a couple of your mates. If you would like to promote, I'm more than happy to discuss. If your interested please post a mix that fits the above criteria in this thread and be available on the 19th of august. Thanks whales

18th in a nice little classy place in docklands that had a noise issue with neighbours so I was put on a sound limiter. If i go over a certain limit it would cut the power to everything, amps, lights, etc. In the second half of the party, i would get cut off cause they would sing along, which would be louder than the music... I explained to the dad that its out of my hands, he understood, but there were a lot of angry drunk bitches with drinks everywhere. It would have been an epic party, if they chose ANY other venue.

500watt? i've got the 15 inch behringher subb and its 1400wat......

I did the Dj crash course at the Melbourne Dj wharehouse 2ish years ago. They taught basic operation of cdjs, mixers as well as beat matching on cdjs and timecoded vinyl.
-
Personally I think a symmetrical lighting setup makes a huge difference edit: also, more smoke consider selling either 12's or 15's and get 1 decent sub with the money.
-
Bit off topic, but do you have a demotape/soundcloud/video of gig. Might make it easier for people to justify the cost in their heads
-
$60/h is mobile Dj rates in Melbourne with lights and sound. So yeah it's more than fair. Be Prepared for oldies and children

Just started a DJ Mobile company check it out!!!!

Lol, you more or less have the same gear I do. I'd recommend you get a scanning laser ($150-250) and maybe some smaller fireworks lasers ($10-$30 each) to to pad out and empty areas. If your solo maybe try to avoid a truss stand as it can be a bit of a pain to setup.
