its not just the throughput, was more referrring to the processing power and the indexing methods that it uses for DLNA. You add / change 1 file, it re-indexes the whole movie db. A computer is much more efficient than that than the relatively tiny processors in a NAS. Also the transcoding abilities are more extensive in a DLNA server on windows than on a NAS
-
nas drives dont have as good DLNA capabilities / speed when compared to a computer

o just thought of another way. if you plugged the mac formatted hdd into your mac, then made the hdd a network share also, you could copy them over your network.
-
there is a few options. you can get an NTFS write driver for mac. paragon one costs money, there is another free one somewhere. other option is if you have two HDDs mac can read ntfs. plug ntfs hdd with data into mac, and empty hdd formatted as mac. copy across to empty hdd. or you can go oldskool fat32 but it wont fit HD movies due to 4GB per file size limit

Gotta be safe Welcome

why not just mix them together live like he did if you feel like you really want to use that transition?
-
Haven't watched the video yet but i have two points: a) when you make a mashup the idea is that its your idea / your creation. i wouldn't go and recreate his mashup. sure you might give it a crack live, but thats as far as i'd go with it. garageband is very capable DAW to make a mashup in

I use these regularly acorn - image editing pixelmator is a good alternative to acorn though, and a bit cheaper. soundcloud app for dem tunes microsoft RDP app if you wanna rdp back home to a desktop or something. Otherwise teamviewer or logmein for remote access back to a home pc colloquy - irc client to use with chat firefox - for when safari just doesn't cut it beatport pro - better interface than beatport website dropbox - for file syncing across devices evernote - good note taking XLD - audio converter / CD ripper Audacity - recording stuff Ableton or Logic if your into that sort of thing textwrangler caffeine - puts a little icon in the status bar, and you can toggle it to disable screen turning on and off. i mainly use it for when i'm mixing but want to keep an eye on my computer still Office for mac 2011 if you want to edit word, powerpoint, excel etc. Onyx - good cleanup program and system tweaker besides those the built in apps (mail, calendar, notes, facetime, messages, iTunes, etc) are fairly decent in 10.8 and i just use those). the exchange support is good now so you can add any work email addresses / calendars in easy) Any specific tasks you need to do, coz i probably know an app for it.

O yeah, I have Djcity too. Find it here for iOS - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/djcity/id485534275?mt=8

Ahk thought that might have been the case, when i bought that Shazam could only do 3 songs a month or something, then you had to buy the full one which was the same price as soundhound at the time. Nice pickup, ill have to check it out

Thought I would make a thread with apps that I use related to music / DJing that some of you may find handy, also you guys may have some that I don't that are cool. All of mine are for iPhone so i'm not sure if they are on android as well or if there is an equivalent, but i'm sure you can hunt around and find something. First up: BPM - Free - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/bpm/id296956954?mt=8 fairly straight forward, has a bit 'TAP' button. you tap it to the music and it spits out the bpm Mixed In Key DJ tempo - Free - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/dj-temp ... 00139?mt=8 Another BPM counter, but it does it by listening to the music instead of you tapping. so not always completely accurate but its pretty good EDIT: FYI this doesn't do key detection, only BPM Discovr Music - $1.99 - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/discovr ... 68094?mt=8 Type in an artist you like, it spits out a bunch of similar artists, all stemming from the original artist. you tap an artist, and similar artists branch from it, etc. cool for finding new artists to listen to when your digging a particular style. can then go in, view artist details, etc... worth the 2 bucks iMaschine - $5.49 - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/imaschi ... 32594?mt=8 Havent used this for any real beatmaking yet, but its fun to use. For people that own an actual maschine / maschine mikro, can start projects then import them to the computer program if you think of something cool when your out and about. can quickly rough out the beat of the ideas you have going, then import it to comp and tweak it. Beatport - Free - ??? I used to use this to listen to new shit, but i cant find it on the app store anymore :/ They must have taken it down Mixcloud - Free - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/mixclou ... 06431?mt=8 Listen to mixcloud sets Soundcloud - Free - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/soundcl ... 53151?mt=8 Listen to soundcloud stuff, check your comments, favs, etc. What i usually use to listen to music when i'm out on the go and not using ipod, constantly listen to fresh material Soundhound - $7.49 - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/soundho ... 72998?mt=8 Hold it in front of a speaker, and tells you name of song. Similar to shazam which i think is cheaper now? They used to be the same price. But this what I use anyway. pretty cool, but definitely doesn't pick everything up. Also there is free versions of both soundhound and shazam you can try, but i think they are limited in the amount of tunes you can run through it and have adds. Jamn - $0.99 - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/jamn-th ... 70606?mt=8 Only just got this today and haven't tried it yet, but looks pretty cool. All about extending music theory knowledge. Read more about it and check out the video here: http://www.gregkocis.com/jamn-the-music ... ool-video/ Feel free to discuss, and add to my List!

as i said in earlier post run them through MIK again, all you need to do is just change the setting to write to the start of the filename instead of in the key section
-
You've come to the right place. Welcome
-
I'm keen. And for everyone's sake how I was going to make it was record audio and video separate then sync them up in iMovie. Which brings me to the speed hump of since my laptop got crushed I have no webcam
-
noice work good to see you pumping out the mashups / edits lately

getting a bit off topic guys. everyone keeps falling back to the 'controllers are gay / controllers are awesome' debate. keep this thread for talk about the ddj-sx
