  1. done this loads of times in the house. fortunately I've never done it playing out anywhere.
  2. would have to wait on them arriving from the UK. besides, they'd do for the I am a fagget.
  3. yeah. not worth it.
  4. DJM 900 - $2200 DJM 2000 - $2600 Allen & Heath Xone 92 - $2000
  5. how so? the only thing about A&H's I don't like is on the 62's the inputs aren't aligned with the channel on the mixer. 92's don't have this issue though and that is the finest mixer I've ever used. EQ's are amazing as are the filters.
  6. Yeah most places back home use Allen & Heath. Personally I prefer Allen & Heath. Been after one for ages and now in a position where I can buy one. So that'l be getting done once I get a house sorted.
  7. ^^ all sounds like too much hard work when I can just buy a newer set. Always handy to have a couple of sets of decks about the house anyway.
  8. Is pioneer the standard type of mixer in clubs here?
  9. To be honest you can probably just use the free ableton videos on youtube. Look up ableton cook book.. http://www.anthonyarroyodotcom.com/theabletoncookbook/ follow ableton on facebook as they put up video with tips and tricks too. But mostly just play around. Remember, it's non-destructive so don't be afraid to experiment and find out what certain things do.
  10. Well that makes me feel old that you only know of napster because of south park.
  11. Just because mine are old as fuck and pretty battered.
  12. What TT's you using?
  13. Very unprofessional. If they have to kill the music to hook up equipment, they should be playing first. Or arriving first to have the gear already set up and ready to go (and tested) before their set. Or just know what he's doing. Setting up TSP/Serato is not that difficult.
  14. this list is a load of bullshit. Daft Punk aren't DJ's for a start. Where is Ricardo Villalobos (worlds No 1 Dj 2 years on the trot), Ritchie Hawtin, Sven Vath (owns Cocoon in Frankurt and runs Cocoon @ Amneisa, Ibiza. Danny tenaglia.. charges about 30k a set??? I don't doubt all the whales mentioned are loaded. just think this list is highly inaccurate.
  15. I don't think that's a really a con of the technique though. If someone want's to be a professional DJ then they should have the commitment to learn the art properly. Sports people don't become pro's because they buy a bit of kit that plays their sport for them. They need to practice and be dedicated to what they want to do. I don't see why DJ'ing should be any different.
  16. that made me
  17. What are the cons to beatmatching?
  18. well yeah, you wouldn't wanna record that kind of thing. But any time you just fancy having a mix. hit the record button. After a while you wont even think about it as it's always recording. So no added pressure.
  19. by messing about I meant just having a mix rather than putting a tracklist together to make a demo mix/podcast etc...
  20. I replied here last night but for some reaon no post... Anyway, I agree that when you record your subconsciously thinking about the fact you are recording which in turn puts a bit more pressure on you. Thats why I always just hit record. Even if your just messing about. You never know what may happen and you'll become used to having record running.
  21. they not using any outboard gear?
  22. And touching on that, I actually achieved another milestone with one of my tracks coming out on a vinyl release soon.
  23. What have I said that was wrong? I didn't list the problems that can occur when using usb etc. As for the list of problems you've mentioned there fore vinyl... I always carry spare cartridges with me, never had to change one during a gig in 10 years (bare in mind I use my own anyway so I know they are in good condition). Earthing cables shouldn't really come loose. If they did then it's down to human error in not setting it up properly. Once it's screwed in it won't come out. As for DJ's puttin jacks in the line/cd inputs... Well that should really be done before a night opens so i don't know how that would have any bearing on the music during the event. And again, it's not difficult to see what inputs are for what anyway. Yip i've seen some of this happen. Again... more problems not brought up by me against technological advances. I use TSP and vinyl together. Luckily I've never had any problems with TSP or my timecode vinyl and i'll always have vinyl to hand just in case anyway. I'm speaking from my experience of DJ'ing from before everyone was using CDJ's and then laptops and now usb's/controllers etc.
  24. I never said anything about anyones taste in music. Or even mentioned a genre. With technical advances anyond can make tunes these days and release their own material. There is so much shit to trawl througj to find the good. That is the devolution of quality. That and mp3`s
