  1. fuck... I've not had a shot of my decks for 7 months now and I'm having withdrawal symptoms. If I were you by all means take a break but don't pack your stuff up.
  2. I'm still surprised at how popular it is here. It certainly as as big in the UK. A really strong scene with a few crossover tracks but nothing like down here.
  3. lets not forget the most important influence on dubstep.... dub.
  4. exactly. There's no money in producing so they'll be even less in releasing mixes these days I'd imagine.
  5. so we're sayin it should be called Nu-Dubstep? Calling Moments In Love early dubstep might be a bit tenuous right enough......
  6. Using DJ in the same sentence as this guy is morally wrong.
  7. do you think the majority of people who use beatport dig through smaller labels and back catalogues of now defunct labels? Or do you think he majority of people listen to top 10/top 100's and buy from them? What you're implying is 100% correct most people look at the top 10 otherwise there wouldnt be a top 10 on the page ummm but no different then when people were buying in record shops. some digg some go charts. being on beatport doesnt change the habits. im a digger but thats how i am. Take one lead and follow it till its dead. Then move onto the next one. but yeh theres definately lots of good shit on beatport. i go on juno cuz im a cheap ass, plus you can get a lot of US releaeses that are region locked on beatport. No, no different at all. It's the number of people who are buying tracks now though. There's waaay more 'DJs' these days than there was when vinyl was the only medium. And in turn there's waaay more tracks being released because it's a lot easier to produce and release digital music than it was to get a track signed and pressed to vinyl. there's no more having to pay to get the use of a studio to make your tracks. Anyone can make music in their bedroom. That's not a bad thing. I'm just saying there is a greater volume of pish music being put out due to the ease of it these days. And most people don't want to spend hour going through all the shit music to find the good. That's my point......

    TOTD?

  10. pub thing would be cool for me. i'm in Perth 11th - 18th. Then i won't be back till 15th - 22nd Augusta
  11. where did you see this? With all the live recordings available there's no point in buying mixes.
  12. I head back to site on the 18th so I'm out.
  13. So it's basically a marketing ploy to ensure everyone just keeps buying the same tracks off of beatport. To me that kills any originality (to an extent) in finding tracks that other people aren't playing. I certainly this would be no use to me. I don't even use beatport anymore. Can't remember the last time I bought anything from them.
  14. surely you'd have to get clearance for any tracks you wanted you use so this will be useless
  15. welcome yo.

    TOTD?

A techno monster that's only just been released but has been doing the damage for quite a while now... seen this destroy a few pilled up dance floors. Proper E tune.
  17. The percentage is relevant to the original BPM. 0.8% will have a varying degree of BPM change for say, 120 bpm and 125 bpm track. I do agree that 0.7/08% can be used as a rough guide, however, you will still need to use your ears/headphones to fine tune it like you say. Hence, my non-understanding of how anyone can beatmatch without headphones.
  18. iZotope iDrum
  19. Surely this would only be possible if you only ever played at the same BPM? I know that I wouldn't know exactly where a track should be pitched to +/- as sometimes i'll be playing a slower set and a track will need pitched down, other times the same track will need pitched up. That's where my ears and headphones come in handy.
  20. Space Discoteca, Ibiza (changes quite a lot depending on who wants what equipment)
  21. I think the old set up looked better. Bit neater at least
  22. Not sure what club this is...
  23. out of interest what are you upgrading to? Pretty decent set-up you've got there already.
  24. The DJ Booth in Ministry Of Sound, London
  25. Think I grabbed about 12Gb worth from this.
