This would be an alright starter kit for a beginner.

She'd be one set amongst many, just like any other venue. Also, there are actually people in the world that like her.

Last week, Aphex Twin announced Syro, his first new album in 13 years. Now, he's revealed a little more about the record. Talking to The Fader, he said that the oldest track was recorded six or seven years ago. "I’d stockpiled up so much stuff and you can kind of have to draw a line under it somewhere," he said. "By banging something out it, it’s like the end of the chapter. It properly draws a line under it and allows you to move on." He also said that Syro won't be his last album, and that he's "kicked into gear" regarding new music. Syro is out September 23 via Warp.

There’s more bad news today for Paris Hilton. Not long after the revelation that she was paid $347,000 per hour to DJ in Ibiza, someone discovered an hour-long bird’s eye view of Paris Hilton’s set. The video is from her performance at Pacha Portugal on August 12th. In the video, Hilton spends minimal amount of time turning the dials – mostly, she is taking pictures of herself and the crowd. The turntable on her left is not even moving for 20 minutes of the video. Sigh. Acknowledging there are many DJs who fake their mixing and most of the crowd doesn’t mind or notice, as someone who sees people with talent live in total poverty for years it is pretty infuriating. Watch the entire set below, and put on your rageface:

Warp announce new 3xLP Aphex Twin album Syro; limited vinyl edition of 200 copies up for grabs via online ballot Warp have – officially, now – announced Aphex Twin‘s new album, Syro. After years of speculation fuelled by sporadic Aphex interviews (remember “I’ve got six albums ready”?), lost albums leaking and, yes, the odd prank by idiots like us, Warp launched an Aphex-branded blimp in London last weekend. On Monday, details of the album were discovered via the deep web, and now the label have officially announced Syro. In typical Aphex style, the press release for Syro was flung back and forth on Google Translate before RDJ added some swearwords, so we’re left with sentences like “area of various musical score, James Analogue Booblebath was released in 1891″ and “That same year, James Acid shithouse to promote the song”. Syro will be released on September 22/23, on triple-vinyl, CD and digital formats. There will also be a limited-to-200 edition of the triple-vinyl Syro, which fans will have to enter a ballot for over at Warp’s online store Bleep. Source

Diplo Credited for Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” on the Cover of Billboard.. ? There is no question that the man Diplo has been having an insanely successful career as a musician lately with chart-topping hit after hit for and collaborations with every single artist under the sun. He’s produced songs for Snoop Lion, Justin Bieber (we know) and many, many more. Not to mention his own productions under both Diplo and Major Lazer. All of this success has landed him the cover of Billboard. For a random white dude, this is a huge accomplishment. Hats off to this random white dude named Diplo. However, at closer glance, after giving him praise for the huge phenomenon of white people twerking, he is also credited for the YouTube viral sensation that began following the release of “Harlem Shake,” without any mention on Baauer. We do know that “Harlem Shake” was released on Diplo’s Mad Decent record label, but did he partake in producing it? We don’t know, but if he did play a role in the production, this is the first that we have heard that if this is actually the case. If not, mega Billboard fail. Maybe we should read the article when it comes out on August 30. Source

A mysterious Soundcloud account is streaming all of the tracks from the new Aphex Twin album 'Syro' with some of the songs strangely uploaded a full year ago. Source Dubbed comically as the 'Cydez' album and uploaded by richrud d jomes the thing has some legs as being somewhat legit with fans of Danny Daze and KiNK, both who posted it up this morning on their socials thinking its the real deal but sped or pitched up. Personally we think its Richie having a laugh, using the basic bits and pieces of most of his songs to tease us until the real thing is released sometime this year. The full set was updated only a day ago on the eve of the official announce of the album following the weirdness that was hiding the tracklisting in the deep web, as well as the sighting of an Aphex Twin blimp flying over London - with this stunt not seeming that weird in comparison and probably our favourite of the three! Is it the real deal? Is Richie pulling our leg again? Check it out: https://soundcloud.com/richrud-d-jomes

With 175 million listeners around the world each month, music streaming service SoundCloud has become near ubiquitous, particularly in the fast-moving world of dance music, where releases and remixes often premiere on SoundCloud months before getting an official label release. But the free ride for listeners is about to end. SoundCloud’s lack of royalty or licensing deals with record labels means it’s been plagued by threats of legal action over copyright infringement, as well as by complaints from artists for taking down content deemed to infringe copyright (most memorably by electronic artist Kaskade, who criticised the service after it deleted tracks from his page owned by the producer’s former label Ultra). Earlier this year news surfaced that Twitter was considering buying SoundCloud, a move which would likely have forced SoundCloud into acquiring licenses with record labels. It now appears that SoundCloud has taken the matter into its own hands, as The New York Times reports that “as part of a new licensing deal with entertainment companies, SoundCloud will begin incorporating advertising and for the first time let artists and record labels collect royalties.” According to The New York Times, “major labels and some independents are negotiating with SoundCloud for equity stakes in the company; in exchange, the labels will agree not to sue SoundCloud over past copyright infringements.” SoundCloud has also announced that it will introduce a Premier subscription service for users that will allow ad-free streaming. The news comes as online mix and radio streaming service Mixcloud announced that it’s also introducing two new subscription packages: Mixcloud Premium and Mixcloud Pro. The Premium service, costing US$6.99 a month, allows users ad-free streaming, while the US$15 a month Pro service gives artists and content creators a ““sophisticated analytics dashboard,” as The Next Web reports. Meanwhile, both YouTube and Beatport have indicated this week that they plan to enter the music streaming market. Source
