SebastiAn has unveiled some new original material during Anthony Vaccarello’s debut as Saint Laurent’s new creative director. The French producer hasn’t really released any original material since his debut album ‘Total’. Instead he’s been keeping himself busy with production work on Frank Ocean’s ‘Blonde’, working with French oddball Katerine, and working with Fall Out Boy oddly enough. Apart from that he hasn’t released any original music in an age. Well, that kinda ends today (wooohoooo), as he’s penned some new music for the latest Saint Laurent fashion show where Anthony Vaccarello made his debut as the company’s new creative director. Clocking in at 10 minutes, to our untrained ear there’s four or five new tracks, ranging from brain-melting Aphex Twin-inspired electro to baroque bangers. He’s not the first French electro artist to work with a high profile French fashion house – Daft Punk, Gesaffelstein and Justice have been seduced by the fashion world, too. Check out the show and the music below. And hopefully that much talked about second album might be dropping sooner than we think. Watch video for The Weeknd’s ‘Star Boy’ featuring Daft Punk
Cupe posted a topic in Electro & Bangers
The Weeknd has shared the video for his Daft Punk collaboration ‘Starboy’ – and we’re glad to report that the robots do make a tiny cameo appearance. Since last week the track has begun to grown on us like a small tumour and now the accompanying video is pretty damn cool. Directed by long-time collaborator Grant Singer it sees Abęl Makkonen smashing up a house with lightsabre-eqsue cross and then driving a McLaren P1 around the Hollywood hills with a big cat sat alongside in the passenger seat. So cars, destruction and cats – the perfect storm of internet virality. And there’s a cheeky nod to the track’s producers Daft Punk who make a sneaky appearance in a picture in the house. Here we go again... with people seemingly having lots of fun scratching halfway up mountains on portable turntables ("portablism", dontcha know), Numark has rushed out a new take on its PT01 portable deck, with a "scratch switch" built in to let DJs cut in/out from a backing track fed in via a phone or similar. Novation just announced Scale Mode for the Launchpad Pro, which is part of a new firmware update. Scale Mode lets you pick a scale in Ableton Live, the notes of which are then mapped out on the Launchpad Pro's 64 pads. This makes it easier to write melodies and chords because any pad you press will be "in key". The post Launchpad Pro's Scale Mode Helps Anyone Write Music appeared first on Digital DJ Tips.

SoundSwitch, the hardware / software bundle that syncs Serato DJ with DMX lighting, has just announced the SoundSwitch 1.0 app. It lets you code your own light shows, which are then embedded into music files. When those songs are played in Serato DJ, the data gets sent from SoundSwitch to your DMX lights. The post SoundSwitch 1.0 Software Released, Free To Try appeared first on Digital DJ Tips.

Denon DJ just announced the MC7000 controller for Serato DJ at DJ Expo 2016. It's a four-channel controller that comes with two USB ports onboard for connecting up to two laptops, two 6" touch-sensitive jogwheels with 16 performance pads, and dedicated key sync and key change controls all housed in a rugged chassis. It's also compatible with Serato DVS for those who want to use timecode vinyl or CDs. The MC7000 looks a lot like the MCX8000 minus the screens and USB thumb drive inputs: you've still got the performance pads and platters, four-deck control, and even needle search. It adds in some nifty features that don't appear on the MCX8000 though, like twin USB jacks for back to back DJ sets, and the aforementioned dedicated key sync and key select controls that let you match the musical keys of songs or change them on the fly for more hands-on harmonic mixing performances. The Denon DJ MC7000 is smaller than the flagship MCX8000, which would appeal to DJs looking for a more compact controller that's easier to take to the gig. It's well-specified, and looks to be a top-shelf controller for DJs who prefer to use a laptop running Serato DJ.

It runs on batteries and comes with a speaker for portable scratching. The post [DJ Expo 2016] Numark PT01 Scratch Portable Turntable appeared first on Digital DJ Tips.
