  1. a jonnyb and a jonob being both dubstep heads, thats random chev started it and then someone said it was dumb and so it became the norm. im pretty sure he was kind of saying something insulting/patronising/inflammotory to a newb and hence was saying safe so as not to seem like a prick!! but i like the metaphoric use of it.
  2. cant answer the different in venue size question but i do know when you compare itunes bitrates to other bitrates its not apples for apples. prior to the latest bit rate itunes was inferior but i thought their current ones are equivalent despjye having a lower number. people like craze buy tunes from itunes and play bigg massive fests. but dependent on genre id stick to juno. cheaper and better to boot. but of course if you looking for hip hop or pop or rock then yeah options are limited in aus. as usual
  3. oh yeah fer sure, i didnt say they were dubstep cuz that moniker was not yet invented by the media until a few years later. im saying that scene influenced/ shaped the sound that would be called dubstep (for the pure reason because it sounded like the dub remixes of 2step tracks). i.e. dubstep was a derivative of the 2step/ garage scene (i didnt look back at older posts yet, but from memory that was the discussion). yeah for sure, artful dodger rocked. i loved that cd back in the day. still cant believe its been over 10 years since i bought these, and they still go hard
  4. bloc party - biko awesome song from their last full length. of their brooding style, which builds very slowly and before getting all angsty and glitchy im sure this has already come up on my previous friday shuffles. stupid shuffle mode and its picking some songs more than others
  5. i only saw it from the vid someone posted last night (was it ill_spector. hey what was his original handle. i was racking my brain the other day and it wouldnt come to mind...)
  6. i didnt think there was going to be any change to the timecode performance? in fact whats wrong with its time code performance? it already is the best in the game (not to spark a serato vs tsp battle, but i just mean factually spec speaking it has a better timecode response). 88 the different colours are meant ot represent different elements of the song. so traktor analyses like sounds. so hi hats, kicks, snares, horns etc. are meant to be a different colour.
  7. i got it from the chatty branch of this place http://hartandheim.com.au/ but i noticed a lot of novelty gift shops sell the same type of shyte. like theres a similar store at neutral bay and another at bondi beach. not sure about up north though
  8. i bought some new turntables pillow cases
  9. man this artful dodger cd its all about the stragglers is gold! funky az
  10. yellow
  11. was at my olds the other day and asked my sis if hse still had the old craig david cds (i love crate digging at my olds. i may have mentioned before but the cupboard in the room me and my younger bro use to share is box loads of cd's. and under the house i still have one box of 12 inches that i didnt bring home with me). anywhos i copped born to do it but she reminded me it wasnt his albums i use to like it was artful dodger which had craig david on vocals for 80% of them. so she gave me that. still goes off! spewing it doesnt have any of the mixes i posted but i guess they were on the singles only. but what was a trip was she also gave me a Ministry of sound UK garage album from that era. its catalogue number is MOSCD12. twelve!!! damn i am getting old ha ha ha ha it has a lot of folk still in the game like dj zinc, deekline, azzido da bass and some of my fave artists like the so solid crew. loved them!
  12. oh waht NI site is down!
  13. yeah for sure. i dont really know much about him as ive said before i only got introduced to him thru my bros cuz we all tegan & sara and bloc party fanbois. but i know he has been voted top dj of the year, top dj of the decade, top dj of the century a million times over. and we know that the amount of festivals and the amount of people going to festivals has been growing. so why shouldnt he get his spoils. else the promoter will just pocket it. and its not like he can cut his asking price, cuz isnt that what everyone beehatches about dj's cutting the price to undercut the market. so until his star burns or the haters succeed in taking him down, big ups to him.
  14. i dont use anyting in traktor enuff to sink anymore monies into it (esp. if the only change is sampling? ill just stick to dropping it manually). but even more so i would never use anything from NI until it has had 3-6 months use from others. i dont know whos worse NI or apple but either way they both have total shit house testers and usually fix three things at the cost of fugging two things. but the positive way to view it is they are one step closer to improvement!
  15. did you read the article.... there are other benefits to Solid State Drives, but obviously yes they are not value for money because its new tech. just remember how much externals use to be.
  16. awesome but thats a solid state hard drive which is more expensive
  17. daft punk arent human
  18. yo chris
  19. you can control your 3rd and 4th deck of traktor wirelessly with your ipad.
  20. what about the vestax vci's? esp. a djtt modded one with the arcade buttons. if you google vestax vci scratch you can see people scratching with it. and google vestax vci fantom (or maybe phantom) and you can see someone playing an old school hip hop set (old school as in playing funky breaks and juggling them. so i dont see how that guy is not a DJ and just an entertainer??? makes no sense. if he is playing other peoples music in a set thats a DJ to me. cuz it looks like he has a lot mo' skill then someone who can just beatmatch and cross fading between track to track).

    Key?

trainspotter does it and apparently rated quite good compared to others. i think its free but itslimited to how many songs you can do, unless you donate 5 pounds or more then its unlimited
  22. djaz, the dudes got a few years experience in the game i dont think jumping onto cdjs is an issue
  23. yeah true. just keep em at home to play around with when you get bored. the transition takes a little bit to get used to but then after a couple of hours it goes alright. ive only used cd players twice and was able to mix okay by the end of the night. i still couldnt figure out how to maually set the first cue, but everything else was fine. but yeah learning cdj's will prob make an easier transition into clubs and help you at certain clubs. lot of clubs still have turnies though in sydney (im sure we listed them off in another thread). anywho just go with what you feel like doing. couldnt hurt to know both.
