Ordered my macbook yesterday, came in the mail this morning. I tell you what, this referb is perfect! Exactly like the new ones! the only defect of it is about a pin prick of a scrape in the bot right hand corner, and you can only see it if you look REALLY hard. I would highly recommend it, not to mention you get $300 off the price of a new one!

^ what makes you say that? and 300 off the RRP seems pretty good to me! I took lloydc's thing into consideration and came out with this. If I was buying one brand new, I might as well have waited for the new models next month, however these do not have CD drives or Ethernet which are big things for me (We are an Ethernet household cause dad is nuts big on radiation and stuff) The only thing I don't know about is if the core is sandy bridge or not.

the laptop itself works out to $550 after rebate, but this years one has already been used. So il have a fair gap in my bank till then (not that it matters as my income is very disposable atm). Still a fair chunk 'o change though, so I was wondering your opinions on it

Hey guys The macbook I want has just popped back up on the referb store for $1100! I know I make a lot of these, but I just want to get a second oppinion before I spend a large amount of dosh. http://store.apple.com/au/product/FC700X/A I really want to get this as a dedicated dj'ing laptop! and I have been saving for it for ages! Im not generally interested in the new macbook pro's coming out next month, as I want ethernet and a CD drive. They also are increasing the price of the new mac books. Before you ask, once the new macbooks come out, these will still be the same price. As apple calculate there referb prices by a percentage off there original RRP. So should I grab it?

Hey guys, so im designing a promo mix to record over the weekend. Im just wondering what I should be doing/looking for when recording/designing a promo mix? (P.S. yes I have mixed in key) One of my theories would be to have a banga every 3 tracks, the other 2 building up to it. Also to chuck in a commercial remix every now and then. Any help?

By floor do you mean stage floor, or dance floor floor. My only worry about putting on the dance floor that low is people sitting on em/drinks on em and stuff.

Hey guys! Usually, I love my speakers, but Saturday night I found my speakers to be abit "boomy" last night. The hall I was in was a considerable size, (20m by 30m) so I had to turn it up to about 70% of the max. I found around it was very "Boomy", the low end sounded not very good even when adjusting it on my mixer either way. Usually you can feel the base in your chest, but even in this hall with 2000w total rms of speakers I couldn't achieve my usual mind boggle'ing kick. Anyone care to explan why this was? is it just the size of the hall like I think it is? or something else like my 12's being too high off the ground?

Had a mad 18th gig sat night. got there at 6:30, had everything setup by 7, started playing, tried to kick it in then guts at 9 to start everyone dancing. Then got asked to cut it back to after speeches. (Had just moved all the stuff from my trailer, it was quite a big hall). My new tv remote isn't great at low light. waited till speeches ended at 10:30 and kicked it in the guts, had everyone in the room and slowly but surely got them in the mood and started dancing. Some girls came up and where requesting "WHERE'S SOME QUEEN B (Beyoncé)". I knew this would clear my dance floor in a matter of seconds, and if I let them go outside to the bonfire I would have lost them for the whole night. I made my excuses and use my usual "Il play it when it's suitable", even thought the only time it was suitable was NOT anytime tonight . Not to mention it was "Run the world" they wanted, which was one of her more terrible songs. Anyways, after a while the crowd really started to loosen up and get into it. Really good having a crowd who actually wanted non commercial stuff. I made a rule to play something they knew once every 3 songs to keep them interested, which I highly recommend as it worked really well. Played mostly electro house, electro and R&B, which im really starting to get used to playing. It's getting easier to mix every gig now! anyway, we wrapped up at 1am, as they had to clean and be out by 2 am. Had some alot of people come up and ask for business cards. Even had some people come up and tell me I was better than a huge dj down here, (Oreo Bass). because I actually listened to what the crowd wanted, and played for them rather than myself.
