eggssell replied to eggssell's topic in DJ Headquarters
i was speaking to mori (the bass player) after the show, and he said that the owners were looking to get them back in if it went well (and it did hella well). and i think i read somewhere on their facebook (im not a facey), or was it twitter whatever, that they were claiming king farook has a new home!. so i assume they will be back which is awesome. anyways ill let you know if i hear anything -
doh! that was a couple of years ago now. maybe other companies have started doing multi-TT?

Feeling static from mixer - Djm 600 and 400
eggssell replied to anditz's topic in Mixers & Controllers
did you try changing the plug to a 3 pin? you can buy replacements at harvey norman or im sure places like tandy. -
Now a more helpful post. As above bit difficult if they dont want top 40 cuz you cant rely on charts, and outside of top 40 there are a million genres! And other peeps may not be as open to music as us dj types. Like my raver holmies wouldnt really know who ozi battla is. Or my rnb/hip pop holmies wouldnt have a clue who calvertron is. And some of my pub/band crew wouldnt know who bigg proof is. So im going to go with a little theory. I say go with tunes that were going when they were 15-20. So for the 21 year old, thats 2005 to 2010. And for the older person thats 2000 to 2005. BUT people dont stop listening to new tunes, so use those years to get a pool of artists, but grab their new stuff too. And a few tracks from new artists that sound like these artists. One of the mistakes some mobile djs do is assuming people want to hear old shit. Just cause you get older doesnt mean you want to hear the same shit over and over again. Having a big pool of music id like to make suggestions. But any help with the genre?

Ummm if someone is 21. They were born in 1990. And had their teen years circa 2003-2008. Why would 80's pop be the type of music they listen too? Handful of classics sure but i think 21 year olds may be more into mid to late 90s to early 2000s I know the 23 yr olds that i know wouldnt want 80s music at their parties

so hit the fair today. didnt go as hard as last time due to fundage. but got some gems rock steady crew - ready for battle. i saw this last time and regretted i didnt get it. first thing i did when i got there was go up and ask the bloke if he still had it, then copped. those who know break will know the crew. this was their attempt to also make music back in the day. very nice songs to dance to, especially for battling. "uprock" was one of my fave tracks of all time. and "hey you" is still a killer track colors the soundtrack - i watched colors the other day on fox. still a great film. made me almost buy ice t -colors on itunes lucky i didnt, got the whole album now.other good tracks: Big Daddy Kane - Raw; Eric B & Rakim - Paid in Full; Roxanne Shante - Go On Girl krush groove the soundtrack - haha yeah i liked that film as corny as it was. for the youngins it was a film very loosely based on the beginnings of def jam. and featured a lot of def jam artists. ive been trying to buy cheap copy for years. anyway some standout tracks (though whole thing is dope):LL Cool J—"I Can't Live Without My Radio"; Force MD's—"Tender Love" ; Kurtis Blow—"If I Ruled the World"; Krush Groove All-Stars (Run-D.M.C., Sheila E., Kurtis Blow, Fat Boys)—"Krush Groovin'" it was referenced in dogma, one of my fave scenes digital underground - future rhythm. never heard it as it was one of their later albums. but seeing as i like all things shock g im sure its gonna be good. and my last buy was this gem from Rockmaster Scott & The Dynamic Three. some of y'all may remember the first part as sampled by the chemical brothers for hey girl hey boy (or as it was known on the streets "superstar djs"). but this track really got famous for the last refrain (from 4.20). brings back so many memories. there would not be a party without this track being played.

SYD event - King Farook @ the beresford tonight 23/09
eggssell replied to eggssell's topic in DJ Headquarters
Freaking awesome night tonight I thought seeing chromeo and nerd on one night was just awesome (boysnoise wasnt badd either) Then murs came and absolutely killed it! Making that the best event of the year. But king farook smashed it!!! From woh to go. And its not just cuz i know two of the fellas, their show is electric. And ive seen em play in garages, to opening for skunkhour (who were my fave band at the time), to seeing them every other week at cerrutis at manly. But then i didnt see them for ages, when i all of a sudden started seeing all this internet buzz about how they had the best live shows in sydney! Spewing i didnt ever catch the first run of KF, but glad i caught tonight. Hopefully more gigs to come. And new music too!!! DJ afterwards killed it too. Place is a nice venue. A few plastics but nothing major and they were still rocking out as opposed to posing -

yo. the awesome hip hop band King Farook is playing at the beresford tonight. they have not released anything for a bit, and actually went on a little hiatus, but their live shows are legendary. admittedly i havent seen them under the guise King Farook, but i have seen them many a time under different names and different members, especially when they had regular gigs at Manly many moons ago. and i have all their releases. one of the best hip hop bands out there. anyways if you in the area check it http://upstairsberesford.com.au/general/king-farook/

VAMP Music presents AJAX + THE HUMP DAY PROJECT
eggssell replied to pundaddy's topic in DJ Headquarters
side room? you mean upstairs room right. the lounge on the top level is chill (though its been a while since i hit it) dont worry about not being able to see ajax, just be stoked you playin mann. there are flyer links somwehere right. ill send it out to the little cuzz's. then you can have the blacktown massive supporting you. -
They dont need hardware, but you can use hardware if you want. The only ones that may use hardware is if you bought protools as part of an mbox package.

im thinking it could be aimed at people who would have previously used mixer + audio 4/8 + X1 + decks which will set you back a bit, and it also meant that the gap between decks was bigger because of the X1. now you cut it to mixer + decks at around the same price and with a standard spacing between your decks

your slack hobz

i know hey way too pricey. but i guess you paying for brand rep too. id go that traktor scratch certified denon one, and if you really need your fancy buttons for hot cuing just get dicers. still ends up cheaper and you get four channels. but that could be because i dont use (or really understand) traktors effects. maybe having control of them from your mixer means you can add a lot more flare to your sets. who knows.
-
its more than just a 2 channel mixer because you get traktor scratch duo. which means you can use as normal mixer, as a time code solution, and as a timecode plus controller option (i.e 2 time code decks, and 2 controller decks). but yeah still pricey as. and yes you can do above with S4, but S4 between two turnies may not be peoples cup of tea. EDIT: and yeah for that price you can get a good mixer and tsp. but i guess some would pay for the ease of not needing a seperate sound card
-
probably some sense to that. because when you first login now they show all the new releases from the artists/ labels you are following. so i guess thats why they were all 2.49
