  1. You bought a mousehead?
  2. i looked for a roadcase for donkeys on ebay. always ended up over $250. so not sure if cheap exists. ask jumpy if he got exrentals maybe? but yeah ebay, then store dj, or lights & sounds are really your spots i guess. but even these have really paired down their turntable cases.
  3. Yeah for sure i dont think it was yer post i was disagreeing with. More the fact that not all DJs who produce went from dj to production. A lot go the other way And i just realised i didnt answer OP. i dont know enuff about venue as i havent done it. Personally my goal was to mixtapes for my holmies. Which i have been doing for every summer for a few years now. Except they werent mixxed. i.e. It was like tge cassette tape mixtapes of the 80's except on cd. I do know though, once you go good in the local scene therebis always the international scene. A lot of aussies in ibiza i heard. And not just the big namers. Of My 3 fave club djs two dabbled in production but are prob stll remembered for their djing. Moto (aus's no.1 rnb & hip pop dj), shamus and kate monroe (who may or may not be doing ibiza gigs)
  4. Oh and i aint saying thats the only thing in the present state. Of courseas above DJs are going on to kill it producing their own tracks.. Chev, jonny, tomy, chris, sweetish and so on
  5. I disagree with some of what is above. Yes a lot of legend DJs dipped into producing. But some like Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez and many more are still better known as DJs to their production. Also, the present state is not necessarily about DJs hitting the wall and then leading to production. Im sure ive mentiomed it before. The problem in the EDM scene is someone will drop a hot track which goes viral, and then promoters want that person on a line up. Even if they cant DJ for shit. So they just go up like any other celebrity DJ and play their viral track and then their favourite tracks without any DJ skill whatsoever. Plenty of current hot producers have been picked for fests this way. And i aint talking about people who play their electronic track live. Thats not DJing, i.e the playing of prerecorded songs. And dont get me wrong i aint hating on it per se. In fact i found out anout it reading interviews on some of my fave producers (cant for the life of me remember who, im pretty sure one of the cats was from ed banger). Im just saying if there is this pool of DJs vying for positions, and all this bitching about bedroom sync djs or paris hilton djs, you then get some computer whizz who learnt a sequencing program then gets booked for a fest? I kinda flip flop about the fairness of that. Everyone loves your track already, why not let a dj play your awesome track.
  6. oh yeah oops you did mention that too me before. but i was more referring to "Original equipment manufacturer". where it is white label pieces that are then rebadged as opposed to a particular manufacturer. but i guess either way vestax aint in that group. but yeah then consider the OEM's or Vestax' which are awesome or your techys.
  7. yes you can do as above. you need the traktor scratch upgrade which was free for a while (right?). not sure what the deal is now. and just look for any direct drive turntable that has torque no less than the 1200. so any of the super OEMs (stantons, citronic, vestaxs, american audio etc.).
  8. you can buy them from the thud rumble website. doesnt cost much at all and you get the whole skratchy seal album. the only scratch album you will ever need when starting. some may even argue ever. also on beatport on one of deekline & wizards albums, they had as a single track every sample (drums, vocals etc). im pretty sure fresh, and ahhh were on there amongst other good little vocal samples.

  11. before the experts hop in, you may want to state what you using 'em for. mobile; house parties; bedroom banging..
  12. hey cap'n i dont think sol was talking about owning a laptop per se, more about having to lug the laptop. cuz yeah if you could have something portable to chuck around and have a smash on in airport transits; or out the back of your car at impromptu boot parties (not all of us would setup the gear in full ); at the park on the bigg ass bbq's and so on.
  13. hmmm. nice one boys. i might have to dustoff my mpd and spark up the ol' reason & pro tools (oh, and re-read all the manuals again and watch all those tutes again ) and for the peeps who didnt grab that aztek release, get onto it. it was a banger! i feel like some cheese & crackheads right now...

  20. i think eggs sell was created when i signed up to this forum. i know i've recounted the story before but here goes again.. basically my name is lex. i knew there was already an established dj in syd called lex so i decided to just go with my name spelt backwards (something we called each other often as kids), and the closest phonetics was "ex-ell". which i thought was good because you could read it as XL (extra large because i am phat with an f) and Excel (because i am an accountant). and because dj's are cool i needed to have a cool way of spelling it so it became x.el. Only to find out some other DJ of all things was already using x'el!!! i was already throwing around the idea of using eggs instead of X, then when i first logged into adjf i had the epiphany of using sell for the L. hence eggssell was born. and from that egg came a stone monkey......
  21. ive mentioned shortee a few times here. great dj, as much a legend in the turntablist world as she is a dj & producer. anyways nice interview from djtt. http://www.djtechtools.com/2011/08/28/d ... more-14584 this line is so much like something i may have posted (then again it may have been ingrained in my mind from her shortee 101 video) anyways check check, check it out.
