Comp wasn't run by the club though, was run by a student uni association, so anyone who attends uni was eligible. And pretty much every DJ in Bendigo goes to uni lol. Much appreciated for the listens

nice man. -
Here is a recording i just did of the set i played tuesday night for a DJ comp i entered. Unfortunately didn't win (resident who plays at the club who hosted it won). Also the set is slightly different as i was utilising 3 decks for some of the time at the club, but only own 2 myself. I did screw up the drop between the two knife party remixes on the actual night, some whale put the touch/release settings on the slowest they could go and i was dumb enough not to check them being nervous as fuark on the night. Also was the only one not to play electro for the whole time (except for one dude that played commercial hip hop). Anyways, thought i'd upload and see what all you would think. http://soundcloud.com/mitch_fudd/ncdj-dj-comp-mix Tracklist: Drop Goblin - Booty Pop (Original Mix) Foreigner - Cold As Ice (A.Skillz & Nick Thayer Bootleg) Knife Party - Internet Friends (Dylan Sanders Re-Blast) Knife Party - Internet Friends (Original Mix) Wolfgang Gartner - Cognitive Dissonance (Original Mix) Fedde le Grand vs Denzel - Pump It Up For Detroit (Spitfire Mashup) Chuckie - Who Is Ready To Jump (Original Mix) Chuckie - Who Is Ready To Jump (Dillon Francis Remix) Swedish House Mafia, Knife Party - Antidote (Rudebrat Remix) Kanye West, Jay-Z - Niggas In Paris Swedish House Mafia, Knife Party - Antidote (Rudebrat Remix) Kaskade, Skrillex - Lick It (Datsik Remix) Damian Marley, Skrillex - Make It Bun Dem (Original Mix) Zomboy - Game Time (Original Mix) Rihanna - Birthday Cake (Proper Villains Dubstep Remix) PS Only got half way though the last trans before i ran out of time on the clock on the actual night, but included it on here anyway comments appreciated

No, they just had 2 * 2000s and 2*1000s, so for me to 3 deck mix the 3rd and 4th decks were 1000s which are cd only. 1000s are still around a bit

Ive played whole sets out, using only usb. Went fine I did take a small cd wallet with me though, just in case. Only time i utlised the cd case was when i wanted to mix 3 decks at once though, not coz of any usb failure. Never had any issues with my USBs once i'd got the songs onto them.

What do you normally use? If its pio gear you use normally you'll be fine dude

i'd trust this guy, he knows

there is heaps of mixes people on here that people post, you can download and listen to, and find some new tracks. Also tons of podcasts on itunes, just search any artists you like in the podcast section of itunes and see if they upload podcasts. Also heaps of mixes on soundcloud from people you like. Id also say follow everyone you like on soundcloud and check it regularly (if your not doing this already)

im sad too, I want it

People can say what they like but from working in a production company its decks or the s1, never seen a vestax used in a professional application. Porter Robinson uses a traktor s4 at major festivals, is that professional enough?

Just use cdjs. One of the clubs I used to play at didn't own cdjs/mixer. However the only extra thing I needed to do was put my roadcase in the car. Then when I got there all I needed to do was plug in power and plug there sound system into my mixer. Roadcase is also on wheels, so it's actually less effort than setting up a controller IMO.

however you don't need to download much to make it cheaper than beatport. The cost of djcity averages out to around $1 / day. 1 track on beatport: 1-$2.50 so if you download an average of 1 track per day its already cheaper than buying 1 track a day off beatport, which is 7 tracks a week. So its actually quite cost effective

downloaded for them car trips

Nice post, had a quick read. Will look at it properly this weekend

looking good man

It's subscription only

I own CDJ 850s myself and love them. I chose them over a controller as I prefer using cd's and usbs instead of taking my computer to source the music from when I play. Traktor S4 is also a really good bit of kit, everyone I know who owns one loves them. Really just comes down to budget and personal preference at the end of the day
